Manufacturer Recall Number25TB06 NHTSA Recall Number25V322 In regards to the above mentioned recalls. The vehicle's reverse camera began flashing while driving forward. The R light on the gearshift was also flashing. While driving forward about 15 mph out of a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly went into reverse on it's own, locked up and would not move. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. This happened around the week of June 8. The dealership says that they reset the electrical recall, we picked up the truck and it ran fine for about a week. The reverse camera and R light on the gearshift began flashing again on June 17. It did not shift itself into reverse, but the dealership requested that we bring the vehicle back. The dealership stated that Toyota has "grounded" the vehicle and does not have a fix for the recall to date and continuing to drive it is a safety hazzard. It has been sitting at the dealership since June 18 with no end in sight. The dealership and Toyota Corporate continues to tell me every few days that they do not have a fix for the issues/recalls.

Summary of Complaint I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe may be a safety-related defect involving the twin-turbocharger system on my 2022 Toyota Tundra (VIN: [XXX]). The driver’s side turbocharger failed at approximately 58,000 miles and had to be replaced. Approximately 6,000 miles later, at around 64,000 miles, the passenger-side turbocharger also failed. The vehicle has been properly maintained and serviced by authorized Toyota dealerships. A failed turbocharger causes a significant loss of engine power, which can create a hazardous condition when merging onto highways, overtaking other vehicles, or driving in traffic where acceleration is necessary to avoid a collision. Toyota requested that I return the vehicle to an authorized dealership for an additional diagnosis, which confirmed the failure of the second turbocharger. I paid $250 for this diagnosis at Toyota’s request. Despite the repeated failure of both turbochargers at relatively low mileage, Toyota declined to provide further assistance and informed me that its decision was final. Based on the failure of both turbochargers within only 64,000 miles, I believe this may represent a manufacturing or design defect rather than normal wear. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue and determine whether similar failures are occurring in other 2022 Toyota Tundra vehicles equipped with the same twin-turbo engine, and whether a safety-related defect investigation is warranted. Water is leaking into the cab of my 2022 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4x4 through the high-mounted third brake light. The leak allows water to enter the headliner and interior, creating the potential for mold, damage to the interior, and electrical issues. After troubleshooting, the third brake light gasket appears to be the source of the leak. Toyota does not appear to offer the gasket as a replacement part, requiring owners to replace the entire third brake light assembly despite the failure being limited to the seal. Numerous owners have reported similar water intrusion issues on 2022+ Tundras, suggesting this may be a common defect rather than an isolated incident. I believe Toyota should investigate the failed gasket design and consider a recall or service campaign to replace the defective seal or assembly.

Driving on the interstate and the truck surged very hard. The truck began to surge very hard and went into decreased speed mode. We were told by the dealer there is a TSB for the PCM. This decreased power caused the truck to not be able to travel over 25 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. This caused an unsafe situation.

I have not had an actual vehicle accident as of yet but the vehicle has a serious hesitation issue during acceleration from a quick stop or rolling situation whereas if you were making a left turn at a traffic light and were waiting for traffic while execrating to clear the next on coming vehicle there is sometimes a 3 second or more delay before the vehicle will accelerate which could cause an accident. Toyota has recognized this issue and came out with a technical service bulletin (T-SB-0032-26) with an update program for the TCU but has not included my vin or several others that have this same issue. I have been told by my dealer that they could do the update but since my vin is not included they would have to charge me. This is a major safety issue and needs to be addressed at no cost to the consumers. I have contacted Toyota brand engagement and they were no help at all acting like they had no idea what I was talking about. It happens every, everywhere. Major safety issue. Making complaints before accidents or fatalities happen because of this!

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked, and the engine stalled. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who confirmed the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Three recalls have now been issued across four years Post-fix engines are still failing for the new tundra Toyota is still issuing new part numbers and design revisions for 2026 The NHTSA filing explicitly references engine configuration as a pressure driver No complete remedy exists for the second recall as of today The probability this is purely a manufacturing debris issue is effectively zero at this point. As one insider on BobIsTheOilGuy summarized: "Toyota is not telling the public the entire extent of the issue because all vehicles with that engine are experiencing failures and because it's at least partly a design flaw issue — even the replacement motors will fail." BobIsTheOilGuy What Toyota has is a design that operates with insufficient margin at #1 main, which means it will continue to surface failures even in "clean" engines under the right combination of load, heat, and mileage — just at a lower rate than the heavily contaminated early production units. That's why there's no clean fix. You can't recall your way out of a physics problem. This is a engine defect. Toyota needs to buy back all these vehicles.

I've been experiencing throttle lag on my 2022 Tundra in certain situations during rolling stops (I've also had it occur from a dead stop, though more frequent in rolling stops). Sometimes there is a significant delay in throttle response, and the other day while pulling out into traffic the delay was perhaps 2-3 seconds. This nearly created an accident as the engine had zero response and greatly affected my ability to accelerate quickly enough. Please consider this as a possible recall, as the danger level is very high for this known issue. Thank you for your time.

In this vehicle, I regularly experience a "delay" in gas pedal response. I drive a non-hybrid V6 twin turbo variant engine 2022 Toyota Tundra, and for a long time I thought this was just related to turbo spooling delays. But Toyota's recent TSB-0032-26 publishing last month confirmed that it is actually a TCM logic issue requiring a re-flash. I spoke to the dealership and this is not covered outside of the standard 3-year bumper to bumper warranty, and they wouldn't cover it under the powertrain warranty which lasts longer, even though this is technically a power train issue. This concern has left me challenged with timing gas pedaling from a full stop, often with a noticeable 1-2 second lag before the truck responds. I have had a couple of close calls because this behavior inhibits safe judgement calls for acceleration. Especially from full stops this is most noticeable, but also when you are trying to accelerate suddenly, there's always a brief delay.

The vehicle was purchased brand new from an authorized franchised dealership, sold and contracted as being equipped with a dealer-installed 2.5-inch suspension lift. At approximately 20,000 miles, a severe front-end squeaking symptom developed. The vehicle was brought to a separate authorized Toyota dealership service center for inspection. An authorized Toyota Master Technician formally inspected the vehicle and documented that the selling dealership did not install an engineered suspension lift. Instead, they installed unauthorized, budget aftermarket spacer pucks and non-certified upper control arms. The Master Technician documented in writing that the vehicle "isn't even lifted properly" and a factory front strut has failed prematurely. SAFETY RISK: The unauthorized spacer modification has severely altered and compromised the factory steering and suspension geometry. Because the front suspension, upper control arms, ball joints, struts, and steering rack are forced to operate continuously at unsafe, extreme, out-of-spec angles, the components are subjected to premature, destructive stress. The Master Technician confirmed that this improper configuration creates an imminent highway life-safety hazard, presenting an extreme risk of the front CV axles binding or snapping at highway speeds, which would result in an immediate, catastrophic loss of steering control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety defect has been explicitly reproduced and confirmed in writing by an authorized Toyota Master Technician. The selling dealership management has been formally notified of this safety diagnosis but has actively refused to remediate the unsafe components, leaving a structurally compromised and highly dangerous vehicle operating on public highways.

I bought the truck brand new in July 2022. May 2, 2026 I hit 46,461 miles and started hearing a clanking sound and caused vibration in low speeds. After 30 MPH the vibration went away. I took it straight to Toyota dealer and with hardly any questions asked they are rebuilding the whole engine and still have it since today May 29,2026.

After I put gas into the vehicle gas tank, the gas tank gauge indicated the tank was 75% full. The following day when I started the vehicle the gauge indicated the tank was 100% full and I did not add a drop of gas into the tank. Days later the tank appears to be stuck on 100% full. My fear is that I will not realize when the tank approaches empty at a very inopportune time.

Both of the turbos on my truck failed with a code description of "waste gate actuator stuck closed". This resulted in a significant drop in power while on the interstate. This code appeared several months before this incident when it was at the dealer for service and Toyota cleared the code and sent me on my way without mentioning it. I only saw it later when I was looking through the history in the vehicle information section in the truck's multimedia system.

Multiple times in my almost 3 year ownership I have experienced a “dead pedal” while pulling out into traffic from a stop. It has almost caused a t bone accident on a few occasions. It’s been to the dealer and had a software update TSB 0111-22. After the update I didn’t have the issue for a little while, but it has come back and it now happens almost every time I drive it. Online search shows that there are multiple people having this problem. Toyota needs to come up with a fix for this before it causes a bad accident.

The issue is a dangerous hesitation during low-speed rolling acceleration. In real-world driving, when I slow down but do not come to a full stop — such as when merging, changing lanes, entering traffic, crossing an intersection, or rolling through a turn — the gasoline engine can shut off while the truck is still moving. When I then press the accelerator to re-enter traffic or move quickly out of the way, there is a noticeable delay before meaningful propulsion is delivered.This hesitation is not a minor comfort issue. It creates a real safety risk.In a small hybrid passenger car, electric-only rolling behavior may be acceptable because the electric motor can often move the vehicle adequately on its own. But this is a full-size half-ton pickup. In my experience, the electric motor alone does not always provide sufficient immediate response for the weight and use case of the vehicle. The result is a dangerous dead zone where the driver is asking for acceleration, the vehicle is rolling, traffic conditions are changing, and the truck does not respond quickly enough.If a Toyota hybrid half-ton pickup is moving, the gasoline engine should not shut down in a way that prevents immediate acceleration when the driver presses the accelerator. This behavior has created multiple close calls for me. The most concerning scenario is a rolling slowdown followed by the need for immediate acceleration — for example, pulling into traffic, changing lanes, or clearing an intersection. In those moments, a 2–4 second delay is not merely annoying. It can be the difference between safely completing a maneuver and being exposed to a collision.

Driver-side seat plastic side cover (seat shield) cracked/broke under normal use. Concern about durability and potential safety hazard if seat components fail,I was bring into local Toyota dealer ask for replacement but answer is vehicle is out of warranty (3year /36000mile)I need to pay for it ,which my vehicle is just past warranty about 5month and the mileage is only 25956,I do find out a lot Toyota owners have the same issue.

On 2022 - 2024 Toyota Tundra models, the vehicles are experiencing an issue where the fuel sensor will reset the digital and analog fuel displays back to showing a full tank without adding fuel to the tank. On my vehicle, the reset has been occurring around the 380 mile distance to empty level. I see numerous other reports about individuals experiencing the same issue. I believe this is a defect and could cause a vehicle to run out of gas without the driver expecting it.
