What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 Vespa Gtv 250, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.

MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF FUEL PUMP/ELECTRICAL FAILURE. DEALER REPLACES PART ONLY TO HAVE THE NEW PART FAIL, RESULTING IN THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE ACCELERATING. HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON EXTREMELY BUSY ROADWAYS. SCOOTER HAS LESS THAN 70 MILES ON IT. SEEMS TO RUN 'HOT' AS BLOWER FAN IS CONSTANTLY RUNNING. *TR
MY 2009 VESPA 250 GTV IE HAS 5000 MILES ON IT. IN THE PAST 1000 MILES THE SCOOTER HAS FAILED TO RESTART ON FIVE OCCASIONS AFTER IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN 40-50 MILES. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION IT WOULD NOT RESTART FOR ALMOST EXACTLY ONE HOUR. THEN IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THE FIRST FOUR TIMES IT OCCURRED IT WAS VERY INCONVENIENT. THE LAST TIME IT WAS SCARY. THE SCOOTER STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART AND I WAS STRANDED FOR 1 HOUR IN THE DARK IN A RURAL AREA WITH NO LIGHTING 20 MILES FROM HOME WAITING FOR A TOW-TRUCK TO RESPOND. THE SCOOTER IS NOW IN FOR REPAIR. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT PIAGGIO HAS TOLD HIM TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP "THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT." I'M EXPECTING A $400 BILL PLUS THE COST OF TWO TOW JOBS. SEEMS LIKE A RECALL IS IN ORDER. *TR
