2007 Vespa LX 150 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2007 VESPA LX 150 SCOOTER WHICH I PURCHASED ON JULY 19, 2008. I HAVE OWNED IT FOR 10 DAYS AND HAVE ONLY 35 MILES ON IT. TONIGHT WHILE RIDING I EXPERIENCED A STUCK THROTTLE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURIES TO MYSELF OR OTHERS HAD I BEEN RIDING IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY I WAS RIDING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA BUT THERE WERE CHILDREN PLAYING NEARBY! I HAD TO USE THE KILL ENGINE SWITCH IN ORDER TO CUT THE ENGINE TO PREVENT A RUNAWAY SCOOTER AND A DEVASTATING ACCIDENT. I HAD TO WALK THE SCOOTER HOME, APPROXIMATELY A HALF MILE. I WILL BE CALLING PIAGGIO AND THE DEALER IN STATE COLLEGE, PA IN THE MORNING TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM AND HOPEFULLY GET SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION. I THINK A STUCK THROTTLE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
