What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2004 Victory Kingpin, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
I HAD A 5000 MILE SERVICE COMPLETED ON MY MOTORCYCLE AT THE DEALER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN OUT AND REPLACED THEM. THEY PROVIDED THE OLD PADS WHEN I PICKED UP THE BIKE AND SURE ENOUGH THEY WERE WORN ALL THE WAY TO THE METAL. THEY HAD 4957 MILES OF USE (SINCE NEW). AFTER BECOMING AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM I HAVE MONITORED THE REAR BRAKE MORE CLOSELY. WITHOUT ANY USE OF THE BACK BRAKE THE REAR CALIPER AND DISC BECOME HOT AFTER ONLY A FEW MILES OF RIDING. THE REAR BRAKE IS MAINTAINING CONSTANT PRESSURE ON THE DISC EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT APPLIED. THE PRESSURE IS CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR TO THE PADS, HEAT TO THE DISC, AND COMMON SENSE WOULD SAY DECREASED PERFORMANCE OF THE REAR BRAKE. ADDED HEAT AND FRICTION CREATES BRAKE FAD AND DECREASED PERFORMANCE. THE DEALER SAYS THE REAR BRAKES ARE "FUNCTIONING PROPERLY" AND REAR BRAKES ON VICTORY'S JUST DRAG.*JB
REAR BRAKE FAILURE ON 2004 KINGPIN AT 2600 MILES. BRAKE PADS ARE WORN TO METAL BACKING PLATES, FINAL "WEAR OUT" OCCURRED OVER A PERIOD OF DAYS. FRONT BRAKES SEEM TO BE FINE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE USED FOR ALMOST ALL BRAKING ON A MOTORCYCLE AS PER THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF ALL MOTORCYCLE SAFETY INSTRUCTORS. HAVE RIDDEN MOTORCYCLES FOR 35 YEARS AND NEVER GONE THROUGH REAR BRAKES IN UNDER A YEAR AND 2600 MILES. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT REPORTED BY NUMEROUS PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT VICTORY MOTORCYCLE CLUBS. *JB
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
