The defect: Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2015 FZ07 motorcycles manufactured May 1, 2014, to September 30, 2014. In the affected motorcycles, the positive battery cable may be pinched between the seat base and seat bracket.
The risk: If the battery cable is pinched, it may chafe and short-circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Yamaha has notified owners, and dealers will replace the positive battery cable and seat bracket, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2014. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990089.

AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN MOTORCYCLE STALLED OUT. CLUTCH WAS PULLED IN AND SLOWLY BEING RELEASED HAD NOT YET GOTTEN INTO THE FICTION ZONE. WENT TO GIVE IT SOME GAS AND NOTICED NO INCREASE IN ENGINE NOISE OR INCREASE IN RPMS. LOOKED DOWN AT THE DISPLAY AND BIKE HAD STALLED OUT. ALTHOUGH IT DID START RIGHT BACK UP COULD POSE A SERIOUS DANGER IF THERE WHERE CARS BEHIND YOU OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND IT WAS TO HAPPEN. FROM READING DIFFERENT FORUMS IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A PRETTY BIG ISSUE WITH THE MT-07 AND FZ-07.

MOTORCYCLE WILL, AT RANDOM, SIMPLY DIE WHILE AT A STANDSTILL. THE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THERE IS A GREAT POSSIBILITY THAT SOMEONE IN A CAR BEHIND, MIGHT REAREND ME. MOTORCYCLE WILL ALSO DIE, AT RANDOM, DURING NORMAL COURSE OF RIDING. THIS HAS HAPPENED DURING DOWNSHIFTING MOSTLY. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE CAN BE DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES. A LOT OF YAMAHA FZ 07 OWNERS ARE FACING SIMILAR ISSUES. *JS

AS SOON AS THE CLUTCH WAS HELD IN ROLLING INTO A RED LIGHT, THE RPM'S WENT STRAIGHT TO ZERO AND STALLED. IT WAS EVEN HARDER RESTARTING THE BIKE AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN, MANY PEOPLE ON FORUMS HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE MOTORCYCLE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE ITS DANGEROUS. *TR
