Data refreshed
Our database contains 3 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2011 Yamaha YW125, most frequently naming the fuel system and electrical categories. 1 manufacturer communication is on file.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
When owners filed reports about this model year
Not enough dated records to plot a meaningful trend — 3 months of data.
Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.
No recalls in our database for this model year
That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

FAULTY FUEL PUMP CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING NO START.
THE FUEL PUMP UNPREDICTABLY STOPS WORKING AND RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO MOVE. THE FUEL PUMP CUT OUT ON ME AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE SCOOTER. THIS CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME ON A 3 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY. THE FUEL PUMP HAS CUT OUT ON ME IN TRAFFIC MORE THAN 10 TIMES. PROBLEM IS FIXED ONLY BY WAITING. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 15 MINUTES, SOMETIMES IT TAKES 24 HOURS. I WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND YAMAHA REFUSED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR FREE. I SPOKE WITH YAMAHA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL. I TOLD THEM THAT THEY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, AS THIS 2011 YAMAHA ZUMA IS HAVING FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS EXACTLY LIKE THE PROBLEMS THE 2009 MODELS HAD. NO WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, NOR DOES THE ECU SEND AN ERROR CODE, BUT NEVERTHELESS THE FUEL PUMP CANNOT BE HEARD PRESSURIZING THE SYSTEM. *TR
YAMAHA ZUMA 125 DIES WHILE IN OPERATION. APPEARS TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALLS WHILE IN OPERATION. THIS IS A SCOOTER WITH ONLY 160 MILES ON IT. IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, IT STALLS! VERY UNSAFE! ALMOST GOT HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER! ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT WORKING. TURN ON THE KEY, NO FUEL PUMP NOISE. THEREFORE, NO GAS! I PURCHASED THIS SCOOTER NEW. I HAD THE ISSUE AT 50 MILES AND IT CONTINUED. ONE YEAR WARRANTY, SO DEALER WON'T ASSIST WITHOUT BILLING ME. THIS SCOOTER HAD A RECALL IN 2009 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. YAMAHA MOST LIKELY PUT THE SAME PARTS ON LATER YEAR MODELS. *TR
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
