I PREVIOUSLY LEFT A PHONE COMPLAINT #10926258 WITH NHSTA AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THERE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR MY EXACT PROBLEM (RECALL 16V-689) HOWEVER MY PARTICULAR VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL AFTER CONTACTING BMW MOTORRAD USA AND THUS THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO OTHER THAN RECOMMEND ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT SERVICED AT A DEALERSHIP. I FEEL THAT FOR A SAFETY CONCERN THAT I THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE FAULTED INTO PAYING FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND REVIEW OF A BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLE. A SUMMORY OF MY ISSUE: MY VEHICLE STALLS AND THE ENGINE DIES WHEN BELOW A CERTAIN RPM THRESHOLD OR WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND IS UNABLE TO START AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 SEPARATE TIMES ON MY MOTORCYCLE WITH LESS THAT 1000 MILES ON IT. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS 14NOV16 AT 215PM PST. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT GOING TO BE RESOLVED BECAUSE OF THE SECLUSION OF MY PARTICULAR VIN WITH RECALL 16V-689. I WILL ATTEMPT TO DOCUMENT THE NEXT OCCURRENCE OF THIS ISSUE TO FURTHER HELP MY CAUSE IN GETTING THIS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY MOTORCYCLE ADDRESSED.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
