WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS SET AT 55 MPH, SPEED STARTS INCREASING AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE, EVEN THOUGH DRIVER STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND TURNED THE OFF THE SWITCH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AVOIDING A CRASH. A MECHANIC UNHOOKED THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE DEALER WAS CALLED ABOUT THE PROBLEM.
