On XXX, my Chevrolet Silverado experienced a sudden, severe loss of normal braking shortly after I dropped my child off at school. When I attempted to stop at a stop sign, the vehicle would not stop normally. The brake pedal remained firm, but braking effectiveness was drastically reduced and required extreme force. The dashboard simultaneously displayed multiple warnings involving the brake/ABS system, ESC, steering-column lock, and trailer-brake system. OnStar generated a diagnostic/safety report identifying fault/error code P062F. The vehicle then entered a reduced-speed/limp-mode condition. I was extremely fortunate this occurred within approximately one mile of Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of [XXX] and with little traffic around me. I was able to reach the dealership without a collision. Had this occurred at highway speed, the inability to stop normally could have resulted in a fatal crash. The incident also occurred immediately after school drop-off. Had I used the normal car line instead of parking and walking my child inside, this failure could have occurred among stopped vehicles while children were actively exiting them. I immediately brought the vehicle to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. Despite the seriousness of the event, I do not believe the cause was adequately investigated. To my knowledge, a computer/software update was performed and I was essentially told to “let them know if it happens again.” They also asked what i was towing - nothing.I questioned whether an electrical fault or short could have caused the multiple simultaneous failures, but I am not aware of that possibility being investigated. Because another occurrence could cause serious injury or death, I refused to continue driving the vehicle and traded it in. I have now learned that the same vehicle is being offered for sale again. I am reporting this to NHTSA because I am concerned the underlying safety defect remains unresolved and could represent an early instance of a broader defect. I purchased this vehicle brand new and have experienced a recurring issue when coming to a stop. The forward sensors activate indicating I am too close to an object (even though nothing is in front of the vehicle), and the engine stalls. Everything shuts off except the driver information screen, which displays the prompt "Shift to Neutral and Press Start Again." Following this prompt does nothing; I have to shift into park and press the ignition again to restart the vehicle. I have taken the truck to the dealership multiple times. After the first two visits yielded no solution, the maintenance team contacted Chevy engineering, and a hard reset was performed. However, today (8/24), a similar issue occurred. While at a complete stop with a full car length between my truck and the vehicle ahead, the sensor warnings activated. The engine did not stall as it had before, but the issue seemed entirely random.

While using the adaptive cruise on the highway the truck will rapidly slow down as is there is something in it path even though nothing is there. This has happened multiple times on the expressway now and I can no longer use adaptive cruise for fear of what it will try and do.

I suspect the automatic emergency braking suddenly activated while backing into my driveway. The truck abruptly stopped as if i crashed into something. The driveway was completely empty there was no reason for the vehicle to activate that system if that's even what happened. The dealer was no help i figuring out the issue they made no attempt to even try and diagnose it. I've since deactivated automatic emergency cross traffic braking and it has not happened since.

The forward collision warning is excessively sensitive to vehicles and pedestrians. I've had the alert go off recently for something so simple as pulling into a parking spot. It goes off frequently just driving past pedestrians and throughout what I consider to be normal driving where I am not coming close to a collision with a vehicle. It is very unsettling and startling when the alert goes off indicating that I am coming close to a collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian. I had a 2023 Silverado 1500 LT/2.7 Turbomax engine and it was not this sensitive. I fear that this may actually cause an accident at some point or if the emergency braking were to activate with another vehicle behind me.

While driving my truck returning from a camping trip I received the following warnings in the dash: Service ESC, Service traction control, forward collision system unavailable. Check engine light was flashing. I made the assumption that the Check engine light was due to the warnings listed above. I continued to drive the vehicle until I began to feel a very noticeable shudder at idle, at low speeds, and also loss of power at higher speeds. The truck has the 5.3 ecotec engine with DFM. After researching the symptoms, I found that these symptoms are identical to the know lifter problem with that engine. The truck is a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado Trail boss with approx. 3454 miles on it. It's currently at the dealership waiting for them to "diagnose" the problem. I was told that it may just be a "faulty sensor", but after reading other people's experience with this engine I believe that the real problem is a damaged lifter/lifter pin due to the poor design and engineering of the DFM system

OnStar Super Cruise, while using super cruise the vehicle tried to change lanes with another vehicle in the other lane. I had to fiscally override the super cruise to prevent an accident. This happened on three separate occasions.

At 4400 miles on new truck started a random cylinder misfire which engine jerking and causes ESC, Emerg breaking and adaptive cruise control to turn off. Will reset itself then do it again. Little over 100 hours on new engine. It happens on longer trips on of off the highway.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
