What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the instrument panel was inoperable. The contact stated that the instrument panel failed to function properly while attempting to activate the windshield wiper. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuse block had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,100.
2015 CHEVY 3500 HD HAS 65,XXX MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. TRUCK PERIODICALLY AND USUALLY RANDOMLY DISPLAYS A "SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE" MESSAGE WHICH CONSTANTLY GOES OFF WHEN NOTHING IS BEING TOWED. NOW ABOUT 1 IN 15 TIMES DRIVEN WILL IT NOT DISPLAY THIS MESSAGE. IVE HAD THE TOWING BRAKE MODULE REPLACED AND THAT DID NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. I'M AT MY WITS END WITH THIS TRUCK. CHEVROLET / GMC NEED TO STEP UP AND MAKE THIS WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEM A RECALL. THANKS
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
I own a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Duramax diesel. At approximately 130,000 miles, the high-pressure CP4 fuel pump failed internally, sending metal shavings throughout the fuel system and contaminating major components. The truck suddenly lost power on the freeway and became inoperable without warning. I was barely able to get out of traffic before it had to be towed to a Chevrolet dealership. This created a serious safety hazard, especially considering the risk if it had happened while towing my fifth wheel with my family. A failure like this should not happen at this mileage on a heavy-duty diesel truck. I also cannot afford the extremely high cost of repairing the entire fuel system. From my research, many other owners have experienced the same CP4 fuel pump failure, which often destroys the entire fuel system and leads to very expensive repairs. I believe this is a widespread defect, not normal wear and tear. I ask NHTSA to review these failures and take action to protect vehicle owners from similar dangerous and costly failures. This truck currently sits at the dealership as I cannot afford the repairs and GM will not fix what they know is faulty parts.
Truck was operating on the highway at highway speed. Suddenly the truck went into a drastic engine power reduction mode and severe automatic downshifting occurred; the truck came to a complete stop on the highway. Diagnostics proved to be a CP4 injector pump failure sending metal into the fuel system, needing a complete contamination kit and new CP3 pump conversion. This apparently is a known defect in GM vehicles and should have been recalled.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
The brake pedal pivot bolt nut loosened itself and came off of the bolt, allowing the bolt to back out of the pedal mount and the brake pedal fell out of position and became lodged behind the accelerator pedal. Thankfully no accident occurred. After performing research with local dealer and independent repair shop it was found to be an obvious repeat failure of the General Motors safety recall #20760E already performed on the vehicle. I reached out to GM customer support who were rude and I received no help in the matter. Can provide more information upon request.

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
A rear defrost system malfunctioned and was smoking in the interior of the vehicle followed by the rear glass shattering. The electrical malfunction could have easily started a fire and glass flying around the cab a highway speeds could definitely be hazard. I called the dealership and they were unconcerned and gave me a quote to replace it. the dealer or the aftermarket glass replacement company have not heard of it happening. I did find a recall in Canada. Strangely enough mine was done in Canada and it happened again.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The power steering. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was unable to steer the vehicle properly, this poses obvious risk while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It has happened to me several times. It has not been reproduced by a third party. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warnings. No known issues.

Cooper Discoverer STT Pro (LT295/55R20/10). Driving south bout on Meadowbrook State Parkway about 1/2 mile north of the Southern State Parkway in New York State (Long Island) when a catstrophic failure of the front right tire occurred without warning or provocation. Tires were about 18 months old and had about 25000 miles on them. All traffic was at extreme risk with the sudden blow out at highway speed. The tire failed in its entirety becoming completely separated! I struggled to maintain control of the vehicle while avoiding contact with other vehicles barely managing to get off the road. This tire was most likely defective and should not have failed. The vehicle was towed with the help of AAA to Mavis Discount tire who replaced the tires with a different brand. The seller and manufacturer customer service was god awful and didn't care. All four tires had to be replaced. NO warning indicators were present at any time. The cause of the catastrophic failure is unknown but like I said the tire appears to have been defective. There was no contact or damage prior to the failure. I have pictures of the failed tire.

There are several problems I’ve noticed some I fix myself! First of all, I was driving my truck at night on the country road and all of a sudden it starts losing power shut down on me on a little road with no pull over spots in Kentucky and just dies completely. My service charging system light came on. I worked on this forever. I noticed it. All of my grounds were completely nasty and pretty much not making contact. I fix the ones that I can find only two I know there’s more, I’ve changed the generator three times and the battery once, the problem happened again and again and again the only way I can stop my truck from dying is when that light come on if I got out and I took the negative wire off of my battery and then put it back on it would run again for about another three days and then if I didn’t see it, I’m stranded very dangerous. Finally I took it to my mechanic up the road and he basically did the same things. I did something about a door switch also though not another battery another generator and he added new battery cables so far it hasn’t done it again. Now my truck when starting to slow down, it will vibrate and shake you to death. You hit a little vibration in the road say a rumble strip. This thing will shake you through the roof in about make you run into another Vehicle , also, it’s hard to fill up the gas if you have to turn the gas nozzle almost straight up and down if you’re low on gas to make it except it or you’ll be sitting there for 30 minutes putting gas in your truck. I noticed also all of my wheels are having rough spots on them everywhere and they are rusting into . Another thing that happens this truck eats breaks for breakfast. I have put in the past two years at least have the change the brakes, calipers rotors and all twice a year sometimes three times a year. Also, the trailer brake system light comes on nonstop along with a service stability track on when happen. No Wasey no cruise control. I am a masterelect. Maintain truck it ju

WE WERE TRAVELING ON I-465 OR I-90 OUTSIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS WITH OUR 2016 LANCE CAMPER MODEL 995 ON OUR 2015 SILVERADO 3500HD. WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA ON I-90 AND FOUND THE AWNING AND AWNING ROLLER FOR THE SLIDEOUT ON THE CAMPER HAD DISAPPEARED. I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT OR UNDER THE POSTED SPEED LIMITS WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE MOUNTS, BOTH DAMAGED, WERE ALL THAT WERE LEFT. THE CAMPER SIDE WAS ALSO SLIGHTLY CRACKED ON ONE CORNER AND BULGED ON THE OTHER. IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. LANCE HAS REPLIED TO MY COMPLAINT STATING IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM ANY MORE SO CLAIMED THEY HAD NO LIABILITY. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AND I COULD HAVE HURT SOMEONE. THE AWNING IS MADE BY CAREFREE OF COLORADO FOR LANCE. I WANTED TO HAVE THIS RECORDED BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD OF ANECDOTAL INFORMATION OF OTHER SLIDE AWNINGS UNFURLING AND/OR COMING OFF SOME CAMPERS.
