Our 2014 Chevrolet Suburban has been garage-kept since it was purchased new. Within a year of the factory airbag recall replacement, the dashboard began cracking in two separate areas. The cracks have continued to spread despite the vehicle being consistently garage-kept and the regular use of a windshield sunshade.
I received a safety recall for my suburban in 2021. I contacted the dealership and have been waiting for 1 year to get a call back from Chevrolet dealership so that they can proceed with the passenger airbag repair “safety recall”.
I cannot believe we don't have a repair for this yet. It is proven to be fatal, even a 2013 Chev Cruze incident caused a fatality. I want to know something about this fix and I want Chevrolet/GM to start fixing immediately. At this point, I am paying a lien on a vehicle that could be fatal and no one is talking about when it will be repaired.
The manufacture has not accommodated the repair/replacement of this dangerous part and it has been a lonnnnnnnng time. This is ridiculous.
Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata Recall. The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
We need to sell this vehicle, which our company can not do with an open recall on it - the auction company will not allow it. I called Gene Messer Chevy and spoke with Keith & was told they CAN NOT repair yet As recall was listed in Feb, this is affecting our ability to dispose of vehicle in timely manner. My company is AgriSompo North America and the vehicle is located at our Lubbock Texas office.
CRACKED DASHBOARD. AFRAID IF IN ACCIDENT SHRAPNEL FROM CRACKED DASH WILL GO FLYING ESPECIALLY IF AIRBAGS ARE DEPLOYED.
I SAW A RED STURDY SIGNAL ON THE DASHBOARD THAT STATES, "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON." THEN, SAW CNN NEWS OF THE RECALL AND 17 DEATHS. CAN I HAVE MY AIRBAG EXAMINED AND FIXED?

THIS 2014 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN WAS PURCHASED BY MY HUSBAND IN 2017. CRACKS HAVE STARTED AT BOTH TOP CORNERS OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. ACCORDING TO INFORMATION FOUND ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE, GM IS AWARE OF IT BUT CHOOSES TO IGNORE IT. IT SEEMS TO ME, THIS TYPE OF CRACKING COULD EFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE AIRBAG OR CREATE A MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION IN CASE OF A WRECK.
VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN OUR GARAGE, WENT TO CRAWL IN AND START UP AND THE DASH CRACKED, WE ARE CONCERNED AS IT IS CRACKED INTO THE PASSENGERS SIDE AIR BAG. .
WOULD GET INTERMITTENT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT. TOOK IT TO ONE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND NO CODES. LATER I FIGURED OUT IT WOULD ONLY BE ON WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FOUND TO BE THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE. WITH THE LIGHT ON THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. FILED THE COMPLAINT WITH GM WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AS THE TRUCK IS A 2014 MODEL AND ONLY 54,000 MILES, GM WILL NOT WARRANTY OR PAY FOR THE FIX. HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY FEATURE
MY DASHBOARD CRACKED RIGHT AROUND THE AIRBAG. I HAVE CONCERN THAT WHEN THE AIRBAG MY DEPLOY IT COULD CAUSE PHYSICAL HARM TO THE PASSENGER. CHEVROLET REFUSES TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY
THE DASH WHERE THE AIRBAG CONNECTS HAS CRACKED. ANY TIME I SEARCH THE INTERNET FOR THIS ISSUE IT SEAMS A VERY HIGH MAJORITY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.
