1995 Chrysler Concorde Heating & air conditioning Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the heating or air-conditioning system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Heating & air conditioning reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE AIR CONDITIONER QUIT COOLING FIRST TWO TIMES DEALER COULD NOT FIND COOLANT LEAK. ON THE SECOND RECHARGE OF THE COOLING SYSTEM THE DEALER ADDED A LEAK DETECTION DYE TO THE SYSTEM SO IF IT QUIT WORKING AGAIN IT WOULD BE EASYER TO FIND LEAK. ON 7 MARCH 2000 WE TESTED THE AIRCONDITIONER, AND AGAIN IT DID NOT WORK. TOOK TO DIFFERENT DEALER , THEY FOUND THE LEAK IN THE EVAPORATER CORE WHICH WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER DID REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME. BUT THE FIRST TWO TIME I HAD TO PAY FOR CHARGING THE SYSTEM. I NEED TO KNOW HOW GET REIMBURSED FOR THOSE EXPENSES SINCE IT WAS A WARRANTY ITEM ALL THE TIME. THE CHARGES I INCURRED TOTALED TO $103.58. *AK

FRONT END STRUTS WRE REPLACED AFTER REPORTING CLUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END WHEN CAR WAS PLACED IN REVERSE. ONE YEAR LATER, WHILE ENROUTE FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO WASHINGTON ON VACATION, THE STEERING BROKE WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN AN UNDERGROUND PARKING LOT IN SOUTH BEND, IN. RACK AND PINION WAS REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP IN SOUTH BEND. STARTED TO SMELL GAS FUMES IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING TO WASHINGTON. TRIED TO GET REPAIRS IN SOUTH DAKOTA BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND A DEALERSHIP WHO WOULD REPAIR IT. LOCATED DEALERSHIP IN PASCO, WASHINTON TOREPAIR THE FUEL LINE WHICH WAS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AFTER RACK REPAIR, AS I WAS TOLD BY DEALER. BATTERY EXPLODED WHILE IN PARKING LOT AT LOCAL MALL. AIR CONDITIONER STARTED EMITTING MUSTY SMELL. HAD AIR CONDITIONER CHARGED TWICE AND IT STILL DOESNT SEEM TO HOLD A CHARGE. CAR WOULD NOT START ON 12/3/1999. THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, TRIED TO JUMP THE CAR BUT WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE IT MIGHT BE THE TIMING BELT. NOW I FIND THE WATER PUMP LEAKED WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A BLOWN GASKET. MECHANIC REPORTS LITTLE COMPRESSION IN THREE CYLINDERS AND 1500.00 ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR. *AK

AIR CONDITIONING NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO PROFESSIONAL AIR CONDITIONING SHOP SYSTEM EVACUATED AND A DYE PUT IN WITH THE FREON. THE TECHNICHAN INFORMED ME RIGHT AWAY THAT THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION HAS HAD DEFECTS IN THESE SYSTEMS SINCE DAY ONE BUT WILL NOT ADMIT TO IT. HE SAID THAT PRACTICALLY EVERY CONCORDE, INTREPID, CIRRUS, JEEP THAT COMES IN EITHER LEAKS IN ONE OF THE THREE SYSTEM, EVAPORATOR, CONDENSOR, DRYER. CHRYSLER CHARGES $950.00 TO REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR!!!! I CAN'T AFFORD THAT COST AND WILL LOSE SUBSTANTIAL MONEY ON THE SALE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT A PROPER WORKING AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.
