2011 Chrysler Town And Country Problems

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased from the Facebook Marketplace. The vehicle was taken to the DMV to be titled, and it was discovered that the title had been altered. The odometer reading was scratched off the title, and the numbers were unidentifiable. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 101,211, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was unknown. The contact had not retrieved a Carfax report.

My vehicle has overheating problems ever since I have had it. I have had the thermostat replaced. The sensor thermostat replaced. The radiator flushed and had several shops look at it yet they could find nothing wrong but I go through antifreeze like crazy. At least 1 gallon every month. The temp reads 100 - 180 on hot days and it gets super hot.

The tipm fuel pump relay is faulty causing the car to start intermittently. It also stalled on a main road without any warning with my kids in the car. Luckily I was able to put the flashers on and drift to the side and others were able to get around without any accident. However they came close to hitting myself and others. I have spent over $1,000 at this point fixing items that didn't need to be fixed only to finally find out online that others have this issue and its a known issue for Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler Town and Country but for some reason the recall is only for Dodge and Jeep.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS and traction control had failed, and the ABS module needed to be replaced. The ABS module was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

The following day, I took the vehicle to repair dealership where I was notified that there was numerous codes showing up on scanner. PCM Codes included; c2200 Internal fault of ABS Module, U1110, U1120, P0501. Advised that I would lose numerous other systems not noted due to codes these included; electric rear doors inoperable while vehicle started, seat belt alarm system, rear parking system notification. Dealership advises that Chrysler company has put the sale of ABS modules part # 68089474AA on hold for over the last year, due to an Engineering review, and that no modules are available for sale. It was recommend that I "get rid of the vehicle". In doing internet searches this is a long running problem with numerous vehicles using this same ABS Module system. Due to the numerous safety systems this affects, the vehicles are unsafe without a recall to correct this manufacturer defective ABS Brake Module. I have had to setup an auxiliary GPS module to calculate speed and severely limit driving this vehicle during inclement weather. As of now normal braking remains unaffected but there. Public is at the mercy of the manufacturer as ABS modules are not for sale and have a retail value of over $1300.00 + install and dealer reprogramming. This is a severe safety issue and aligns with other current recalls of similar models with the same condition. You may contact me at anytime to discuss. The ABS light, Traction light, and Brake light all come on and simultaneously. I've been told that the ABS Module is bad and needs to be replaced. The fact that the module needs to be replaced concerns me since there are prior recalls for ABS Module with other Dodge, Ram, and Chrsyler makes and models.

Van was sitting in driveaway in front of my house. We noticed smoke coming from rear of the vehicle and then saw flames. Contacted 911. Fire department arrived to put out the fire. They said something appeared to have shorted or exploded inside the driver side rear wall panel. Just below the rear window vent in the area of the 3 row speakers and cup holders. It burned down the exterior of the van near the gas cap.

"P0740" OBD2 code, causing vehicle to Fail state Safety Inspection. issue is due to a defect within the transmission, very common with the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country. "Dealer Only Repair" , very costly. Serious Safety Issue. Vehicle cannot be diagnosed by most Certified Mechanics. this faulty reading could mask very serious issues with the Transmission. 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH 97,983 MILES. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING AND THE VAN WOULD NOT MOVE. WAITED INTO THE NIGHT FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TOW US TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NO RECALL ISSUED FROM CHRYSLER. STUCK WITH A $3,338.92 BILL FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION.

On 4/9/12 I was involved in a serious accident that resulted in my daughter obtaining a severe traumatic brain. She was in critical condition and is now severely disabled. The back curtain airbags did not protect her and did not appear to work properly. I believe that the vehicle was not properly examined after the accident. The car was a rental vehicle and my family was out of state on vacation. Due to the severe injury of my daughter I believe that the airbags failed.

I had to call my husband to bring spare key. The next issue was the vehicle battery drained and had to get jumped. The last issue was the vehicle would not turn on. All of the lights turned on but would not crank over.Took it to my local dealership and was advised that the TIPM failed.

As a result, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver then the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. In Oct of 2024 My driver's side window shattered out of nowhere for no apparent reason! I heard this really loud boom then the window shattered ! I took it in the have the regulator replaced and the window. I also put a windshield in it at that time as well. Then in August of 2025 not even a year later and once again my window shattered and my winshield cracked. This time i was driving on the freeway and I heard a big pop the crash and in tiny pieces mof glass fell in to the door driver's side window .

I don't know much about vehicles. So when I get the obd scanned to make sure things are good to sell my van and it throws back many error codes, I was surprised. I thought the vibration/shaking was minor or just because I only had 4 out 6 engine mounts replaced. I was told the tipm was bad, the transmission, the tire pressure sensors don't work. The eco drive doesn't work. I was told that there was a problem with mine that was recalled but only on half of the vehicles and my vin wasn't one of them recalled even though it's the same problem. I was told the main fuse panel under the hood needs replaced. From what I was told, all the needed repairs will cost about as much as I paid for the vehicle itself. There have been lights on the dash since a few days after I bought it but the obd didn't want to put out any reading. I named her Christine because she seems to have a mind of her own. The rpm's go sky high whenever they feel like it so I often have to pull over, turn it off and wait about 5 minutes. I didn't know where to turn to get help with this before it nickel and dimes me into the even more poor house.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

Passenger side front seat active headrest deployed spontaneously (no accident).

TRAILING ARM ON RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VAN SNAPPED, WHIE 'I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET CLOSE TO MY HOME. THE REAR OF THE VAN STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND STOP. I THEN PROCEEDED CAUTIOUSLY TO RETURN TO MY HOME. MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WHERE WE SAW THE TRAILING ARM SNAPPED IN HALF.

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN OUR VAN STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE SOUND....WHEN I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE AND GOT OUT I SAW THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WASN'T WHERE IT SHOULD BE AND THERE WAS A MEDAL PART HANGING DOWN. WE HAD THE VAN TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, DAVE GRANDOMINICO, CONTACT #614-882-9965, WHO LOOKED AT OUR VAN THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THAT THERE WERE ONLY 2 BOLTS IN THE TRAILING ARM AND THOSE TWO BOLTS SNAPPED. HE SAID THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN 4 BUT IT HE COULD SEE THAT THERE WAS NEVER 4 (NO MARKINGS OR SCRATCHES WHERE THERE WAS NO BOLTS INDICATING THEY HAD NEVER BEEN ADDED). DAVE RECOMMENDED THAT WE TAKE THE VAN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD DOCUMENT THE MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. DAVE THEN INSTALLED 2 BOLTS IN TO THE SLOTS WHERE THERE WAS NONE (SO THAT WE COULD DRIVE IT TO CHYRSLER); HE LEFT THE 2 SNAPPED BOLTS IN PLACE. HOWEVER, WHEN WE TOOK THE VAN TO CHRYSLER, THEY TOLD US (IN SO MANY WORDS) THAT WE COULDN'T PROVE THAT THERE WAS ONLY 2 BOLTS (SINCE DAVE HAD INSTALLED 2 NEW BOLTS), AND THEREFORE WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $400 - $500 FOR A REPAIR AND THEY WERE TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MATTER OUTSIDE OF REPAIRING IT.

NOISY TIRES, 225 65R 17 MICHELIN ENERGY A/S FEATHERING ON OUTSIDE EDGES ON FRONT TIRES. ALIGNMENT CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE IN SPEC BY DEALER. TIRERACK RATES THIS TIRE VERY HIGH, BUT AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES, THEY ARE ALREADY SHOWING SIGNS OF ABNORMAL WEAR AND CUPPING. THE COMBINATION OF THE T&C FWD ENGINE WEIGHT, CHEAP FRONT END COMPONENTS WHICH CAUSE STABILITY PROBLEMS, ALONG WITH THIS SOFT RIDING, HARD RUBBER MICHELIN, WILL BECOME ANOTHER PROBLEM LIKE THE FORD EXPLORER & MAVERICKS WITH FIRESTONE 500S.
