1995 Dodge Avenger Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1995 Dodge Avenger, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Reports by component

Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

HEADLIGHT LIGHT PLASTIC COVER CHANGES COLOR AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT LESSENS THE ILLUMINATION OF THE LIGHT. COVER HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT CANNOT BE CLEANED. *AK

NHTSA ID 10038068 · filed Sep 3, 2003

MY FAMILY OWENS 2 DODGE AVENGERS A 1995 AND A 1998, THE PROBLEM IS THE HEAD LIGHTS THEY ARE DISCOLORING FROM THE INSIDE AND DODGE HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY WAY TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING ITS A DEFECT IN THE PLASTIC HEADLITE COVER. THIS SITUATION CAUSES A HAZZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. I TALKED TO DODGE ABOUT IT AND THE DEALER SUGGESTED I PURCHASE NEW HEADLIGHT COVERS FOR A TOTAL OF $386.00 EACH AND THEY ADMIT THE NEW COVERS WILL DISCOLOR AFTER A PROLONGED OUTSIDE EXPOSURE. I PERSONALLY THINK THIS IS AN ATTEMP TO GOUGE THE PUBLIC AND I AM HOPING YOU ALL CAN HELP. I WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY $50.00 TO 100.00 FOR A SET OF NEW HEAD LIGHTS BUT OVER $700.00 IS WAY OUT OF LINE. THANK YOU

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
