2015 Dodge Dart Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Shifter cable bushing failure - 1st recall in 2019, took to Dodge, was replaced in April of 2020. October 2025, safety recall replacement for the 1st recall fix as the shifter cable bushing failure, and as of May 12th 2026, there is NO remedy. My bushing broke April 2026 and I can't get it repaired. With no cable bushing, I cannot use my transmission gear shift in the car, every time I need to shift to either P, D, N and R, I have to manually get out of the car, open the hood, reach inside the hot engine to manually shift the gears.I contacted Stellantis Customer Service that handles recalls. The ONLY option they had for me for this October 2025 recall was to get my car fixed at a mechanic or Dodge dealership and send them the paid invoice so they could reimburse me for the money I spent. I told them that was unacceptable to me because 1.) how can you announce a national public recall in October 2025 and it's May of 2026 and STILL do and not have literally the small part (bushing size) that you've recalled? 2.) Dodge telling me to get the part fixed for $500 or more at a mechanic when the part that doesn't exist ANYWHERE that fits my Dart? Make it make sense! Meanwhile, everyday, I risk burning myself every time I have to reach into my hot engine to manually shift gears. This is dangerous and risks litigation if I burn myself anymore. Why is Stellantis allowed to get away with this? I refuse to pay and get reimbursed when it's a recall. Worse yet, how do I get it fixed if the part apparently isn't available? Again, make it make sense... Dodge is responsible to fix recalls on their dime, not mine.

I am the original owner of this vehicle and have used this vehicle as my primary vehicle that has been well maintained in excellent mechanical condition with no accidents. The issue is the continuous flexing of the wire harness routed from the truck to body opening which continues to wiring shorts and breakage resulting in failure of the rear back up lamps, rear taillamp lighting and back up camera operation. Failure of these critical safety related items provide increased risk of personnel injury and property due to loss of rear visibility to the vehicle operator along with disabling the back up light signature to warn surrounding vehicle traffic of intended backup maneuvering leading to personnel injury and vehicle collision. A caution signal of backup lamp outage appears on the instrument panel along with continued outage and flicking of the rear camera function. This wire harness has been repaired at the Chrysler Dodge dealership multiple times via a deductible warranty charged to vehicle owner, never resolving the failure from once again reoccurring. Recently the rear camera and backup lamps have again failed which the Chrysler dealership has identified as being within the previously repaired wire harness. Due to the multiple times the dealership has attempted to make repairs, the dealership service records now state the wiring failures can no longer be repaired due to the poor harness condition. These aforementioned safety lighting /rear lighting devices are no longer functioning and vehicle service being denied. Repairs to this wire harness have only been made at the Chrysler dealership. This wire harness is a well known problem area to owners and a "nuisance problem" to vehicle repair technicians. A more robust harness design and routing engineered to account for wire harness flexing to account for typical trunk open/closing to maintain the expected integrity and operation of these safety items.

Electronic Braking System Failure, was approaching a stop sign at 60 mph, was unable to stop, towed to shop. Shop is replacing brake booster, had to pay out of pocket (same as recall R63, but my model year did not fall into it), just wanted to report in hopes that this model year will fall into the recall, and prevent this happening to others! " The brake booster on your vehicle may experience engine oil migration from the vacuum pump, through the vacuum supply tube, and into the brake booster. Prolonged brake booster diaphragm exposure to engine oil could cause the diaphragm to fail. This could lead to a loss of brake booster assist and/or an air leaking sound. A loss of brake booster assist could require the driver to apply additional brake pedal force to stop the vehicle. The lack of brake booster assist could change the braking characteristics of the vehicle and cause a crash without warning."

When I first got this car three years ago I had a shift problem in the transmission it got stuck in the gear and I couldn't pull the key out when I did some research I realize that there was a recall so of course I went to the dealership and have them take a look at it to fix it they said that I will still be charge in the problem wasn't even originally fixed they rigged it they just made it to where I could pull off but I was still charged and now a couple years later I am having transmission problems again and the dealership is saying that I need a transmission as I am doing a research I realize that my transmission again has a recall on it.

I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PRETTY MUCH EVERY RECALL THAT IS ON THE LIST NUMBER ONE IT STARTED WITH MY CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. AND THE CODES THAT KEPT ON COMING UP OR FOR THE PLUGS AND COILS. I WOULD REPLACE THEM AND THEY WOULD JUST GO BAD AGAIN IN LIKE A WEEK IT IS CAUSING MY CAR TO DO WHAT SEEMS LIKE IT'S MISFIRING. MY TIRE LIGHT IS STUCK ON WHEN THE TIRES ARE FINE. THE SPEED CONTROL STOPS WORKING ON AND OFF. WHEN I STEER THERE'S A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. WHENEVER I TRY TO SHIFT HERE LATELY SOMETIMES IT WON'T GO INTO GEAR. WHEN I TURN ON THE AC IT WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO MISFIRE AND THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS TO TURN OFF THE AC AND RESTART THE CAR SOMETIMES THREE TO FOUR TIMES BEFORE IT STOPS MESSING UP.TODAY THE SCARIEST THING OF ALL HAPPENED I WAS PULLING OUT OF BRONZE AND WHITE SMOKE BILLOWED OUT OF THE CAR TAILPIPES I'M NOT SURE WHY. THE CAR IS ALSO SPORADICALLY NOT GOING IN GEAR WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY MAKING ME WORRY THAT ME AND MY FIVE KIDS ARE IN DANGER DUE TO SOMEONE RAIKKONEN TO ME BECAUSE MY CAR WILL NOT GO UP TO SPEED AND WILL NOT SHIFT INTO THE RIGHT GEAR AND MISFIRES AND WILL NOT GO OVER LIKE 30 MILES PER HOUR AND PUTZ. I REPLACE PARTS AND IT SEEMS TO WORK WELL FOR A WEEK OR TWO BUT MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST THEY SAY THAT EVERY SINGLE THING THAT IS ON THE RECALL LIST IS HAPPENING TO MY CAR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT ALL OF THIS I HONESTLY YOU JUST THINK THAT DART NEEDS TO TAKE THE CAR BACK.. LIKE RECALL IT COMPLETELY. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE AFTER THE FIRST YEAR OF DRIVING IT. *TR

MY CAR SWITCHES GEARS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT ALSO TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE KEY TO BE RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. A GLITCH IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSES MY LIGHTS TO GO DIM OR COMPLETELY TURN OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, BUT MAINLY AT LOWER SPEEDS AND WHILE AT A STOP, THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND ALL POWER IS LOST TO STEERING AND BRAKES WHILE SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS THEN APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD - I HAVE READ ON CHAT ROOMS OF HUNDREDS OF THESE OCCURRENCES, AND MOST SEEM TO PINT TO A LOW OIL CONDITION THAT DOES NOT FIRST LIGHT THE OIL LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD, BUT SOME INDICATE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES.

SHIFT CABLES ALSO BROKE, I WAS JUST GETTING HOME WHEN IT HAPPENED I HEARD SOMETHING SNAP BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH THEN I PARKED AND TRIED TO DRIVE OFF AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT TO DRIVE I COULD MOVE THE STICK.BACK AND FORTH STILL,HAD IT REPLACED A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER THEY SAID THE WHOLE ROD HAD COME OUT AND SHOT INTO SOMETHING ELSE IN THE VEHICLE HAD SHIFT FIXED. ALSO HAD MOTOR MOUTHS FIXED THE MOUTHS BECAME LOSS WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS NOW I BELIEVE THE AC COMPRESSOR IS MESSING UP AC KICKS ON BUT NO AIR COMES OUT, BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE IN A WHILE CAR ALSO STAYS COLD FOR A LONG WHILE AND MAKES A WEIRD CLICKING NOISE WHEN I START IT UP. ALSO SMELLS LIKE OIL. PASSAGE SEAT ALSO IS STUCK. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 2YEARS IVE HAD THE VEHICLE.

AFTER VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN DRIVE. FOR FEW HOURS, IT WILL STALL WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE WILL BE IN MOTION THE. SHUT OFF AFTER RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR, THIS AFFECTS THE VEHICLE STEERING ALSO. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE BY TURNING THE KEY WHILE IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO CYCLE THE STARTER AND EVENTUALLY START BACK UP AFTER THE STARTER CRANKING. WHILE THE BATTERY LIGHT IS ON. BATTERY HAS BEEN CHECKED AND NO ISSUES THERE. AFTER RESEARCH, THIS TENDS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS.

UPON DRIVING A FEW MONTHS AFTER GETTING THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED IT WAS BURNING OIL RATHER FLUENTLY. WHEN TURNING CORNERS WHILE DRIVING IT WOULD SHUT OF AND I'D HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND IT WITHHOLD TURN ON LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER ADDING MORE OIL IT WOULD OPERATE A BIT BETTER. THEN THE THROTTLE SYSTEM KICKED OUT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED. I PULLED OVER FOR SAFETY AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. AFTER RESTARTING IT I LEARNED THE THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM WAS BAD. I INITIALLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS UNTIL AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLE AND IT'S FUNCTIONS...I CANNOT GET SPEED GOING UP HILL AND CANNOT REACH DOES IF MORE THAN 40-45MPH.

I FIRST STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR IN 2017 MY CAR WOULD OVERHEAT AND SHUT OFF ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I TOOK IT INTO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY BATTERY AFTER THAT I HAD THEM CHANGE THE BATTERY. AFTER MAYBE A DAY I WENT TO WORK AND THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME AGAIN. I THEN GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND THE CAR WORKED GOOD FOR A FEW MONTHS UNTIL I CAME UPON THE PROBLEM AGAIN THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS THE OIL BECAUSE WHEN IT HAPPENS I CHANGE MY OIL AND THE CAR IS FINE AFTER. I CHANGED MY OIL RECENTLY AND MY CAR IS STILL EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THE BATTERY LIGHT TURNS ON AND IT IS A HASSLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON. I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME CAR AS ME IT IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD TO BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH MY CAR ESPECIALLY SINCE I KEEP UP WITH THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND IT ONLY HAS AROUND 40,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
