STOPPED AT STOP SIGN. STARTED TO MAKE RIGHT HAND TURN, HEARD POP IN THE STEERING COLUMN, WARNING BELL WENT OFF, AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. HORN STOPPED WORKING AND NO CRUISE CONTROL. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR REPLACEMENT OF CLOCKSPRING TODAY, 7/18/2015, AT A COST OF $167.99 FOR THE PART AND $119.23 FOR LABOR. NO AIRBAGS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. CLOCKSPRING FAILURE IS KNOWN TO DODGE/CHRYSLER AND RECENTLY JEEP AND ANY VEHICLE MADE BY DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP THAT HAS THIS FAILURE SHOULD HAVE ALL PARTS AND LABOR COVERED BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER. WE DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS AND COULD HAVE DONE NOTHING TO PREVENT IT. RECALLS WERE DONE BUT NOT FOR ALL VEHICLES. MAYBE THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE. BAD PART FOR SURE!!

FRONT LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM FAILURE. THIS RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE LINES, CONTROL ARM, LOSS OF CONTROL, STEERING, TIE RODS, UPPER BALL JOINT, CV AXLE SEVERED, AND BENT FRAME. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE OF MY VIN NUMBER I WASN'T ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR, YET THE 2001 DODGE STRATUS, 2.4L SEDAN HAS BEEN RECALLED BY CHRYSLER FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, WITH LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT FAILURE. HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, THIS COULD OF BEEN AVOIDED. WHAT IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED? AND WHY WASN'T MY VEHICLE RECALLED???? *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
