Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I've had a Blindspot warning light alert, told by dealership this is an electrical issue, after a web search, I see this is a common and known issue for Ford, yet no recall has been issued. I also have another know, common powertrain issue with my rear differential. The vehicle makes noise when turning, unstable when driving. The vehicle is less than 5yrs old and under 60k miles. Both issues are safety issues and could cause an electrical fires or vehicle stalling. I am scheduled for a 2nd inspection on 7/31 and hopefully repair.

The vehicle is only a 2022 and has a jerky acceleration during non-highway driving with RPMs fluctuating. The tire, cruise control and seatbelt indicator lights are illuminated with no resolvable issue (the dealer clears them out and they come back). There’s an audible muffler rattle that has been present for a long time that the dealer says is normal. When I fuel up the engine audible bogs down. On a recent road trip to New York the vehicle vapor locked at a gas station and had to be jumped. The vehicle has been nothing but recalls and issues

We have a video of the incident from our ring camera: [XXX] My daughter pulled our 2022 Bronco Sport out of our driveway onto [XXX] and then made a right turn onto [XXX] After completing the turn, my daughter said the car pulled to the right like the lane assist kicked in and locked and would not allow her to turn the wheel. My daughter does not remember if any warning lights or messages lit up on her dashboard because the whole thing happened within a few seconds. She crashed into our next door neighbors concrete and cinderblock mailbox at low speed and then the Bronco immediately flipped over. The vehicle is at a local tow yard and available for inspection. At approximately 7:00 p.m., it was already dark, and I relied on my vehicle’s rear parking-aid sensor to assist me while backing out of my driveway. However, the rear collision/parking-aid sensor did not activate and provided no audible or visual warnings. Because the sensor failed to operate, I continued reversing and unintentionally collided with a vehicle parked across the street. The malfunctioning sensor is still installed on the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The absence of any warning put my safety and the safety of others at risk, as I had no indication that another vehicle was behind me. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before the incident, and the failure was first noticed when the expected alert did not occur. After the accident, I contacted a Ford dealership and confirmed that the sensor had not activated at the time of the incident. I also verified afterward, in daylight conditions, that the sensor does work normally and provides warnings when objects are behind the vehicle. The issue has not yet been reproduced or inspected in person by a dealer or an independent service center, and the manufacturer has not examined the component. My insurance company has been notified of the collision.

Potential systemic issue: I purchased the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport on 06Aug2025 which is still within its warranty period. During the test drive I identified the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) wasn't operable. The dealership stated yes that model does have it and that it is not working. All safety settings were verified on and that it should be functioning but isn't. The dealership troubleshot but couldn't identify the issue. The dealership then contacted the Ford maintenance headquarters twice and received responses to the effect of "Where looking into it" with no path forward or timeline to correct the issue. Important considerations and information: 1. This is an important safety feature that people assume is working if turned on. This is no alarm or error code showing that it has malfunctioned. 2. While driving the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) alarms went on twice at different times. There was no vehicle in front of me, and it didn't attempt to brake. If it did auto-brake this could've caused someone to rear end me. 3. I was given loaner Ford Bronco sport, and the same safety feature and others didn't work in that one either. This leads me to think this is a systemic malfunction and not a one-off. 4. All other safety features work 5. Ford Headquarters customer service opened case# CXH-XXX. Phone: [XXX] ext. 79202. Case owner is [XXX] 6. There are two versions of Ford Co-pilot 360 which most customers don't know of. One has dynamic cruise control, and the other doesn't. It's assumed by the customer that it is equipped with dynamic cruise control. This isn't clearly stated to the customer. This assumption could be a potential safety issue. The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that while turning and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle was slow to respond. There was a lag before the vehicle accelerated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Fairway Ford (1350 E Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA 92870); where it was diagnosed and determined that an unknown part needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact called the same local dealer, who confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was called, but the phone call was disconnected several times. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

In 2022 I bought my bronco and took it in for the transmission going into the wrong gear and coming out of park. They said yes that’s happening and did something with the programming. It continued to run funny and have occasional issues with shifting which I assumed was in my head. Yesterday however I found out it wasn’t. I turned my bronco on and put it in reverse but it just started reviving and didn’t move so I tried drive same thing so I turned it off then back on all of a sudden it made a bang and lunged into reverse in front of a car and I almost got hit. I also when to pull out a few weeks prior and my car didn’t go and I almost got hit. Today my bronco stalled on the highway I was able to coast off the road but it then sounded like a chainsaw and wouldn’t go into any gear so I had it towed. I get the three chance rule however I feel like in the case due to repeated and extensive safety concern they need to do something. I also am not the only 2022 bronco owner with these exact issues as I found others on online forums with the same things.

While parking in a parking lot of a local store I pulled into a spot and stopped about 2 feet from a bumper post. I removed my foot from the brake pedal to pull closer to the post. The car began to idle forward. When I was as close to the post as I intended I stepped on the brake. The car continued to idle forward until I hit the post causing very minor damage to the hood of my car. After hitting the post I was stopped. I put the car in reverse and took my foot off the brake. The vehicle did not moved so i touched the gas intending to back up a foot or so. The car picked up speed. I braked, but the car continued to pick up speed. I pressed harder on the brake, feeling as though I was standing on it. The car did not stop nor slow down. While feeling as though I was standing on the brake the car sped up I would estimate to 5-7 mph. I traveled straight back across the drive lane and continued to back into the parking spot behind me and hit the bumper in that parking causing damage to my lift gate and miscellaneous electrical components and the rear bumper. I have a repair estimate for $3400.00. I reported to the store personnel, the local police, and was examined by emergency medical. It was determined there was no damage to store property and medical personnel found my blood pressure was mildly elevated and the I felt slightly disoriented, but otherwise tested normal. I can only surmise that this was a temporary software malfunction. Braking has returned to normal. I talked to a ford dealer's Rep and he did not know what could have caused it. He also advised I could have diagnostics started for $278.00. I could not afford it at that time. Please note that the police officer said i could pick up the police report, but i have not done so. Speed sign recognition reads wrong speed. Reads 45 mph when speed limit is actually 70mph. Automatically slows down to 45 mph. Also drops to 25mph in 35 mph zone. Had it checked at dealer and they say all settings normal. Checked for Mfg updates and it says all up to date. Happens several times a week.

I was trying to park my vehicle and it started blinking and saying park is not available, vehicle is not in park. Place the park brake before exiting the vehicle. I was on a downward slope, so I found an area where it was flat and tried to restart my vehicle, but it was doing the same thing. I had to go to work, so I parked my car and placed the brake on. Later I went out on lunch and the car wouldn't start. I had to call a tow truck because Ford refused to come tow my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport or give me a loaner. The next day after Ford replaced my battery, they told me my car now had transmission issues that were not there before I had a dead battery. I know there is a recall on the 12v battery, but a remedy has not yet been issued and many customers are suffering. I asked about the recall or my warranty and I was basically laughed at because I have too many miles on my car. Why is a vehicle manufacturer able to continuly sell recalled vehicles and leave lives at stake for a recall that can end up killing someone?

We have, since buying the vehicle new in 2022, experienced sporadic severe lane keeping assist OVER Correction or dangerously aggressive correction both when there is not an actual lane crossing and no correction is needed and when slightly drifting over lines on the outer right side of roadways. The severe jerking /over correction has caused the vehicle to go OFF of the shoulder of the road in many incidents OR to go into oncoming traffic lane. When we had the recall performed that was meant to reprogram the pcm we were told that "hopefully your issues with that will be resolved" . They were not and have continued for as long as we've had the vehicle. This phenomenon is not able to be reproduced under any specific circumstances nor does an error display when this happens, therefore cannot get diagnosed by dealer service Dept. This has not yet, but has come very close to causing accidents, one particularly frightening instance the vehicle was unnecessarily jerked off the side of a 2 lane road with a narrow shoulder that dropped off into forest. A similar incident the vehicle was unnecessarily and spontaneously jerked again to the shoulder of the road where I was almost thrown into a ditch next to a farm field. This could put drivers and passengers at risk of otherwise preventable accidents. These occurrences typically occur when roadways are not perfectly straight with bends or curves on the roadway OR in busy traffic at higher speeds ( such as city interstates)

The collision warning alert goes of sporadically at the most random times when there is actually no threat at all around the vehicle. This will cause (as it is intended to do) the driver to reactively fully apply the break quickly, which could cause injury such as whiplash in an unnecessary event or worst case a rear end collision. This has happened when driving down straight roads with no other vehicles. This has happened when going around bends in the road. This has also happened when driving next to things like corn fields, through forestry areas, next to road signs, etc. No error message occurs or anything and this does not seem to have a specific environment for reproduction. Simply just happens randomly.

The electrical components in my dashboard and computer system are shutting off while I am driving. “Charging System Service Soon” alert pops up but I have had my battery checked multiple times. The glitches are inconsistent and can happen 1-20 times during a 30 minute drive. When it glitches, I can not see my speedometer or anything else on my dash. It occasionally turns off my slippery mode, it almost stalled once and occasionally my steering wheel locks up. I reached out to 10-15 dealerships near the Detroit Metro areas and none of them have rental cars to provide me to assist with diagnosis. They all tell me if it’s part of the 12V battery degradation recall they can’t do anything until the remedy comes out. But that is reported as Q2 at the earliest. This is my only mode of transportation and it is a huge safety risk.

Every time road conditions are wet (rain, snow) the drive lane module gets wet and will disable entire transmission and several error codes come up stating power train failure. Hill start assist is disabled, 4wd is disabled, pre-collision assist is disabled and the Bronco Sport's drive modes for various road conditions are also disabled. Service engine soon light came on along with several messages of power train failure appeared in Ford pass app. First appeared last year and happened once during a major snowstorm and now reappearing one week ago during the first major snowfall for the area and had continued since.

My vehicle started with not accelerating and bogging down when going after a stop, it shakes/jerks from 1-3 gear. The rpm’s jump all over the place and at times it will be very low speed, jerking when trying to shift. I haven’t even had the car two years, I have two children and this happened at an intersection and scared us all. It had happened so many times I’m scared to drive it. I took it to a ford dealership, they were able to recreate the issue and said it may be the transmission. There are now warning lights on or anything indicating what the issue is. They told me to keep driving it until a code comes up or to wait till June when they can inspect it. It just keeps getting worst.

While driving my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport several alerts flashed in the dash area including lane assist, front end collision and even just a wrench in a box. All audio was lost. Then the entire dash went dark. All information in the instrument panel disappeared. The tachometer and speedometer both dropped to 0. I had no turn signals and could not determine which gear the vehicle was in. The engine continued to run and I could accelerate and slow down. Eventually everything came back on. This has happened several times and the Ford dealership has had the vehicle 3 times and have not been able to recreate the problem or resolve the issue. Most recently I started the vehicle and the instrument panel immediately went dark. I drove the car for approximately 10 minutes without knowing how fast I was going, what gear I was in, or if I even had working brake lights. I am listing the most recent date below. This has happened on May 4 and 7, July 17 and 18, July 24 and 25, 2023.
