2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Fuel system Problems

The vehicle stopped dead in traffic and would not restart. No warning lights. This is a huge safety hazard. Had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership and other diesel shops said the issue is a known catastrophic CP4 fuel pump failure. The fuel pump shreds and metal shavings are found throughout the fuel system. Requires a full fuel system replacement...quotes have been obtained from GM dealership and local diesel mechanics, ranged from $15,000-$17,000. There is a known fix and could have been solved by replacing the fuel pump with an alternative one, without putting us in a dangerous situation. There is also a settled class action lawsuit directly associated to this fuel pump and issue, however the vehicle was purchased in GA and therefore not included. Based on the VIN the truck would be included if sold within a qualifying state. GM corporate and dealers know about this problem and the safety risk, but are not even suggesting the fuel pump conversation as a repair. They are putting customers in dangerous situations and leaving them with high bills.

I have not experienced a failure as of yet. But the CP4 fule pump is prone to fail. With that failure the engine is destroyed as well. So why is there no recall to get the CP4 fuel pump replaced? GM has been sued correct? A settlement of $35 million due to the failure of the CP4 fuel pump. So why is there no recall to address the issue before it happens? I have contacted GM directly and got no assistance. They just told me to fill a complaint. My Vehicle is a 2016 GMC Denali 2500 with the Duramax motor. This issue needs to have a recall! Why should owners of these vehicles with the CP4 fuel pumps have to wait until it fails and cost thousands of dollars to get assistance or reimbursement. Would appreciate any help with this matter. i began getting a service engine light that went on and off a few times randomly. the vehicle would not switch down to 4cylinder as designed. there was an odd shudder as the vehicle slowed at 10mph increments which would randomly happen or not happen dependent upon the moment. i was outside of warranty so i went to a shop which has been very good in the past as opposed to risking dealership costs on top of the fact the dealership had no availability for quite some time. ultimately, i ended up replacing all fuel injectors and related equipment at my own expense. just happened to be online looking around after the announcement of gm reimbursing for similar issues on larger sierra engine and ran across a bulletin that only went to certain states in order to replace these injectors as they failed or reimburse for costs up to 10 years or 150000 miles from the time they were put into service. just curious as to why this happened in some states and not others when there was obviously and issue. i know this is probably not the forum, but a complaint is a complaint.

My truck started having a strong fuel smell by drivers door. 7/11/23 I took to the GM dealer to address strong fuel smell. The dealer at Patriot GMC said they would have to drop the tank and do smoke test to locate leak. They reported no leaks found that it looked like possible fuel on top of tank from over filling and spill. I explained I didn't overfill tank or spill any gas. Picked up truck after being told no fault found. I had to pay $539.91 to drop gas tank for testing and to check fuel pump.7/17/23 [7/11-7-17] I explained no trouble with starting or stalling with fuel pump and I just had gas smell really strong. Engine light came on when I left shop so I called dealer and explained my truck was running fine and now engine light on. I brought it back to shop after a week of testing and put back in shop on 7/17/23 They took the code and it came back as EVAP system issue. Code P0449 They said my EVAP Vent Solenoid valve circuit was open. Circuit tested terminal 1 pin loose. Terminal in connector replaced. Vent valve tested. The mechanic stated now running as designed. Multi point inspection completed. Picked up vehicle and stopped at store because I could smell gas real strong inside my cab and under hood. I contacted dealer for third time about gas smell and this time I asked for shop manager to come to vehicle so I could make sure he could smell how strong the gas smell was and now it was coming from front hood area into ac vents and into cab and it was making me nauseous and scared of fire issue. He said he would get it fixed. Received call yesterday stating that they found a small crack in fuel pump and my truck was ready for pick up. This is the same recall notice I have read about on major recall of GMC vehicles due to crack in fuel pump. My truck is a 2016-2017 but I don't see it on the recall list or have I been notified of the issue. #N192283991 Safety issue Pressure regulator cracks fuel pump. 19V837000

My 2016 gmc Sierra transmission going out again first time locked up and researched everyone I know that owns gmc says they have same issue replaced front drive train busted also and noticed the weld on the frame around steering box and frame has one weld pass very thin rusting away already I've done replaced engine front diff fuel pump now airbag warning keeps going off and my radio has security build in it keeps locking up so I think my entire gmc sjo I ld be recalled replaced with a better used one at least gmc make it right allow me a safe auto for what I paid for so please check transmission on all 2016 gmc trucks suv before someone gets killed over malfunction and airbags an on board computer shutting down my email [XXX] I'd be happy to allow gmc builders to take it and learn from defaults in it I know I had service dept Thornhill auto chapmanville wv service a brake recall on it and the web sites continue saying no recall please email any help thank you for everyone's time helping me INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 (5.3L 8-speed). When on the highway or in the city when the truck is changing gears it has a shake almost like hitting small bumps on the side of the road. I have several friends and family members with the same model truck and have spent thousands of dollars to fix the problem by modifying the whole truck. Is there anyway a recall could be made since it has to be a huge issue with all models with the v4 mode? I brought it to a transmission shop due to GMC dealerships being booked for weeks..the receipt is attached! They said the fluid was burnt and changed it but need new torque converter!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LEAKED FUEL ONTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT ALSO SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION BUICK GMC HENDERSON AT 702-979-2044 (LOCATED AT 330 NORTH GIBSON ROAD, HENDERSON, NV 89014) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAL ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE SEAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED A $100 VOUCHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,500.

TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED FROM 4TH GEAR UP (3) TIMES WITHIN 91,000 MILES. WHEN GOING AT SPEEDS MORE THAN 50 MILES AN HOUR, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BREAK AND LOSE FORWARD MOTION CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION WAS "REBUILT" AT LAFONTAINE GMC OF HIGHLAND, MI (2) TIMES AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY ARE GOING TO "REBUILD" IT A 3RD TIME. THE QUALITY/PRECISION ISSUES I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE ARE ISSUES THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A $50,000 VEHICLE. THE ENGINE HAS A ROUGH IDLE WHEN IT IS FIRST STARTED UP. AFTER THE VEHICLE WARMS UP THE ROUGH IDLE GETS WORSE. IT GETS EVEN WORSE WHILE I AM DRIVING IT AND I COME TO A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THE ROUGH IDLE VIBRATES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THE ROUGH IDLE IS AT ITS WORSE WHEN I STOP AFTER HAVING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS. I BOUGHT THIS NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS TOTALED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT WHEN SOMEONE T-BONED ME IN MY 2007 GMC YUKON XL. MY YUKON HAD APPROXIMATELY 200,000 MILES AND DID NOT HAVE A ROUGH IDLE OR VIBRATE LIKE MY 2016 SIERRA DOES. I KNOW THE TECHNOLOGY IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN MY 2007 BUT IT SHOULD AT LEAST IDLE AS GOOD AS IF NOT BETTER THAN MY 2007 YUKON THAT HAD 200,000 MILES, BUT IT DOES NOT. THERE IS ALSO A HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THAT IS GETTING WORSE WITH EVERY ADDITIONAL MILE I PUT ON THE VEHICLE. THE HESITATION IS SO BAD AT TIMES I WORRY THE ENGINE IS GOING TO STALL OUT ON ME. IT FEELS/SOUNDS LIKE THE CYLINDERS ARE LOADING UP WITH TOO MUCH FUEL AND ARE NOT FIRING CORRECTLY. THE STOICHIOMETRIC RATIO IS NOT CORRECT. AT TIMES, IT FEELS LIKE A MISS. MY FUEL MILEAGE IS ALSO DECREASING. IN THE VERY BEGINNING I WAS AVERAGING AROUND 19 MILES PER GALLON AND NOW I AM AVERAGING AROUND 17 MILES PER GALLON. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT OCTANE LEVELS OF MOSTLY SUNOCO AND BP FUELS WITH NO NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN FUEL MILEAGE OR ENGINE PERFORMANCE EXCEPT FOR THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CONDITIONS GETTING WORSE. I AM WORRIED THIS RICH MIXTURE WILL CAUSE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND O2 SENSOR. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THE EXCESS CARBON COULD BUILD UP AROUND THE VALVES CAUSING ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES.
