TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HINO 258. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (VOLVO TRUCKS OF OMAHA, 11251 153RD ST, OMAHA, NE) WHERE THE ECU WAS UPDATED AS PART OF A SERVICE CAMPAIGN. AFTER THE SERVICE, THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WOULD NOT EXCEED 40 MPH WITHOUT THE SERVICE INDICATORS ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND A SECOND ECU UPDATE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,114.

TT-16-013 The procedure for installing the rocker shaft bolts into the cam housing has been updated. It is recommended to lightly lubricate the threads and flange of the bolts with clean engine oil before installing them. The torque specification has also been reduced as a result of adding lubricant to the bolts.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

TT-16-005 The purpose of the tech tip is to provide information for a low power concern possibly relating to the brake switch. Hino Trucks are equipped with two brake switches. First, a stop lamp switch that is designed to activate stop lamps on the truck. Second, a brake switch that is designed to send brake application input for modules to monitor brake activation. When monitoring DXII with the brake applied, the switches should both read ON and when the brake pedal is released, they should both read OFF. If the brake is not applied (typically when accelerating) and if one switch reads ON while the other reads OFF when the brake pedal is not applied, a brake switch correlation concern is the likely cause. Perform the following to identify the switch with this concern.
