TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HINO 258 TRUCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH SIDE VIEW MIRRORS BECAME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING THE MAGNIFICATION MIRRORS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. ..UPDATED 04-23-14 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED BUT, THERE IS NO DEALER IN THE AREA. TT-16-013 The procedure for installing the rocker shaft bolts into the cam housing has been updated. It is recommended to lightly lubricate the threads and flange of the bolts with clean engine oil before installing them. The torque specification has also been reduced as a result of adding lubricant to the bolts.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH

TT-16-005 The purpose of the tech tip is to provide information for a low power concern possibly relating to the brake switch. Hino Trucks are equipped with two brake switches. First, a stop lamp switch that is designed to activate stop lamps on the truck. Second, a brake switch that is designed to send brake application input for modules to monitor brake activation. When monitoring DXII with the brake applied, the switches should both read ON and when the brake pedal is released, they should both read OFF. If the brake is not applied (typically when accelerating) and if one switch reads ON while the other reads OFF when the brake pedal is not applied, a brake switch correlation concern is the likely cause. Perform the following to identify the switch with this concern.
