Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Crash reported
The contact owned a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that after parking at a gas station/store, she locked the doors, and with the key fob in her hand, went into the store. The contact stated that the stranger had approached her at her residence prior to the incident. The contact reported that a stranger was able to gain entry and drive the vehicle on the freeway and crashed into some unknown vehicles. A police report was filed. It was unknown if there were any reported injuries. There was no fire. The contact was able to confirm that all the air bags deployed while retrieving her belongings. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted four times. Additionally, she sent an email regarding the matter. The failure mileage was 74,000.

2017 Honda CRV, mileage on 1 Dec 2023 (44498).The passenger air bag warning light fails to to 'OFF' when a 112 pound person sits on the front seat. Auto dealer inspected the device on Dec 1, 2023 and re-initialized the seat weight sensor to factory parameters and advised it now tests ok. During Jan - June 2024, the warning light began to operate improperly. Auto dealer inspected the system on August 24 and determined the passenger front seat weight sensor reading was inaccurate and advised the entire seat frame with weight sensors be replaced. Returned to the auto dealer on June 18 to have the entire seat and weight sensors replaced to correct the issue. Current Mileage: 48692 on June 24, 2024. Cost to customer: Parts & Labor: $1558.78 The vehicle is not covered by a factory warranty, however, it would seem that an issue with an air bag should be considered as a recall, since the only person using the car was the driver, since we had no confidence that the passenger air bag system would work if there was an incident that required it to be deployed. We have to use a second vehicle whenever we travel with more that one person in the car.

I have 2017 Honda CRV. I observed that my driver sear cushion is deformed. I took my vehicle to Honda dealer they inspected and said my cushion is deformed and airbag is loose. I called honda and they said they will investigate the issue, they investigated the issue and came back with comments that seat frame is bent and due to vehicle is outside warranty they can’t repair it. I checked online and found that people reported same issue in 2017 and honda fixed those issues. see - [XXX] Now I feel many people like me would have same issue and possible that they even dont know that air bag is loose and I believe its a safety issue. I feel someone should investigate this matter. I found this site and thought of sharing this. I observed this distortion of foam cushion since I bought my car but never gave any attentions to take it to dealer for checkup. I deeply regret it and now I am worried that this loose airbag is a safety issue. I AM SURE THIS ISSUE IS WITH MANY HONDA CRV 2017 CARS AND DRIVERS EVEN DONT KNOW THAT AIR BAG IS LOOSE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. when I was on the call with honda representative I felt helpless as they were like its your mistake , our dealer said its because of outside influence and we cant fix it. I bought this car as new and it was never in any kind of accident. THEY ARE NOT READY TO ACCEPT THAT IT’S A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. PLEASE HELP INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I've reporter to Honda dealer about seat and brake pedal squeaking when pressed several times when my vehicle was under warranty. They always said its normal wear and tear. Car only had 12,000 miles on it at the time. Fast forward to 30K miles, they finally greased the brake pedal and noise went away for another 10K but returned. I was then told its hydrolic brake so it's normal. But I know its not normal to have squeaking noise like that. Moreover, seat squeaking noise has gone worse now. I can literally not take the noise to the point I try not to move at all while driving. I was told this is normal behavior and if I want to replace it it'll cost me $$$$. This should've been covered under warranty and I have few other friends and coworkers with similar issues and they're also being told to deal with it. Adaptive cruise control is ok as long as you don't change the lane or someone in front of you doesn't change the lane. I was going 45mph one night when I had adaptive cruise control turned on. It was seeing the car in front of me and there was a red light coming up. Car in front of me decided to change lane and after that my car failed to recognize the car in front of me stopping for red light. I was at 25mph due to all cars slowing down but as soon as the car front of me changed lane, my car speed accelerated to 45mph and almost hit the car stopped at red light. I slammed the brake so hard to avoid the accident that night. My entire family was freaked out after that and stopped trusting adaptive cruise control.

I WAS IN A REAR END COLLISION. THE DRIVER SEAT DID NOT STAY UPRIGHT. UPON IMPACT IT RECLINED. MY CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT WAS HIT, APPROX 20 MPH. THIS PROBABLY CAUSED MY INJURIES TO BE WORSE THAN IF THE SEAT HAD MAINTAINED IT'S UPRIGHT POSITION.

DRIVER SIDE SEAT MAKES SQUEAKY NOISE EVERY TIME AND EVERYDAY. SPECIFICALLY FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN CAR HAD ONLY 6000 MILES AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL FOR CR V. IT WASN'T A LOT BUT NOW IT'S A BOTHERSOME TO DEAL WITH IT. EVEN A SLIGHT MOVE FROM RIGHT SIDE WILL MAKE THE SEAT SQUEAK LIKE THE THERE'S SOMETHING NOT PROPERLY ALIGNED.

ALSO THE SEAT HEATERS DON'T SEEM TO WORK. BASED ON WHAT I READ ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE SOMEHOW LINKED WITH THE ENGINE OIL DILUTION ISSUE

DRIVER'S SEAT HAS COLLAPSED ON LEFT SIDE RIGHT BELOW THE AIR BAG TAG. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER. THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY DID A QUICK FIX, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. DOES THIS PROBLEM AFFECT THE FUNCTION OF THE AIR BAG? I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 4/28/17, AND THE SEAT HAS BEEN MESSED UP FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS.

MY MOTHER AND I TRAVELED TO VISIT MY DAUGHTER THAT LIVES 3 1/2 HOURS AWAY. MY MOTHER SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT FOR THE 7 HOUR TRIP UP AND BACK. THE AMBER OR YELLOW LIGHT ON THE DASH "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" WAS LIGHTED THE ENTIRE TIME THAT MY MOTHER WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ADMITTED SHE ONLY WEIGHS 100 LBS AND IS 86 YEARS OLD, BUT SHE IS CLEARLY AN ADULT AND SHOULD BE PROTECTED BY AN AIRBAG DEPLOYING IN CASE OF A SERIOUS CRASH. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING IN A CRASH COULD LITERALLY MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.
