The door and body moulding have become loose and are coming off
The power driver liftgate strut exploded and hit the top of the hatchback, snapping the bolt in half and damaging the threads which attach the stud bolt to the hatch.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while her husband was operating the tailgate, he became aware that the driver's side gas strut had exploded and was visible on the outside of the vehicle but was still attached to the vehicle. There were only minor scrapes to the paint job on the tailgate. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the driver's side tailgate gas strut needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The harness inside the left hand side back door was crushed and shorted thereby autolock not functioning. After discussions with dealer and Honda US HQ they would not cover any portion of $530 bill to replaced crush harness cable that is inside the door, Even though nobody has access to this wire as it is inside the door. The only reason why it would be crushed is due to poor or incorrect assembly during manufacturing and over time it shorted out causing the autolock to stop. The only thing that is visible is the black tube that routes the wiring from door frame to inside the door. The problem is crushed wire inside door. On a door that is hardly used (left hand passenger side behind driver door). Due to safety issue, car was repaired at Madison Honda at Madison, NJ for $530+tax. This is an unreasonable repair expense to consumer.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood unlatched independently and caused extensive damage to the front windshield. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V932000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
The contact owned a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that his wife was driving approximately 60 mph, when a Chevy Blazer crashed into the vehicle. The front passenger door was detached during the impact. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The passenger occupant sustained head injuries, and medical attention was provided. The driver and two rear occupants had no injuries, but medical attention was provided at the hospital. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
Driving on the freeway the splash guard fell partially down, making a horrible sound. It gave no warning. It was a very scary experience.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he pulled over and removed the negative battery terminal. The contact stated that after he reconnected the battery the warning lights were no longer illuminated. The contact then stated that days later while driving at an unknown speed, the malfunction indicator lamp and the check emission system warning light illuminated. The vehicle then lost motive power. The contact stated the vehicle was able to restart but would not exceed 5 MPH while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact then pulled over and removed the negative battery terminal. The contact stated that he reconnected the battery and the vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing to replace all fuel injectors. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
The contact’s husband owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that her husband was driving at an unknown speed when the vehicle stalled. The battery warning light illuminated. However, the battery was replaced but the failure recurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the Body Control Module (BCM) needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that no parts were available. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available
There is an electrical issue with the car. On 07/14/2022, I took the car to the dealer for diagnosis of an electrical issue. The result of the diagnosis was a faulty Body control module. When the vehicle is shut off, the ignition spontaneously turns on and off and ultimately stays on. This kills the battery within a couple of hours. I have my own scan tool and plugged it to the OBD2 port. I attached the codes reported when I scanned it. I cannot drive it because the battery is currently dead and will go dead if I do drive it and shut it off for any considerable length of time. This has been such an inconvenience. The dealer couldn't even give me a rental while I wait for the parts to come in. I tried jumping the car to start it, but the problem still persists. I also have video documentation of the problem but couldn't upload it here.
My vehicle was marked salvage without me as the owner knowing until recently informed by a Carfax report at Toyota. I was wondering why it was marked salvage and if it was done by Carfax or insurance.
WAS PACKING MY CR V AND NOTICED VERY TINY RUST SPOTS ALL OVER THE TAILGATE. THEN WHEN OPENING THE TAILGATE NOTICED 3 BIGGER RUST SPOTS. I CALLED HONDA 104 WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME TOO BAD.
ON SATURDAY 2/29/2020 I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON HIGHWAY 183 HERE IN AUSTIN TEXAS AT 68 MPH WHEN MY DRIVER DOOR OPENED. IT DIDN'T FLY ALL THE WAY OPEN BUT IT WAS AJAR ABOUT 4 TO 5 INCHES. I HELD THE DOOR AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS I COULD WHILE DRIVING WITH THE OTHER HAND TO REACH A SAVE STOP IN ORDER TO CLOSE MY DOOR. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A YEAR AND 8 MONTHS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT IT IS SCARY NONETHELESS. I WAS ABOUT 19 MILES INTO MY TRIP TO WORK THAT DAY. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND THAT WAS NO ALERT THAT MY DOOR WAS OPENED PRIOR TO IT OPENING. THERE WASN'T EVEN A ALERT ONCE IT BECAME OPEN AND I NOTICED BECAUSE I COULD HEAR THE AIR AND THE DOOR WAS MOVING. THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM STILL SHOWED THE DOOR LOCKED BEFORE I UNLOCKED IT AND CLOSED THE DOOR. WHILE IT HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN. I WOULD STILL APPRECIATE THIS TO BE LOOKED INTO.
CONSTANT FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS IS NOTICED WHENEVER, THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS SET TO HAVE EXTERIOR AIR CIRCULATION.
I OWN A 2018 CRV PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST 2018. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A SLIGHTLY DRIZZLY, APPROXIMATELY 45-ISH DEGREE MORNING THIS WEEK, I HEARD A LOUD BANG/EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT CRACKLING NOISE RIGHT OVER MY HEAD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED MY SUNROOF SHADE SHUT AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK (ABOUT A 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD), I DISCOVERED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. BECAUSE I PULLED THE SHADE CLOSED, THE GLASS DID NOT FALL IN TO THE VEHICLE SO THERE WAS NO INJURY SUSTAINED. MY ROUTE IS ONE I DO DAILY AND DOES NOT INCLUDE AN OVERPASS OR OVERHANGS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD BEEN THROWN/FALLEN ON MY ROOF. THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE BODY/ROOF. I BELIEVE THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WHEN I SPOKE WITH MY HONDA DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO AN OUTSIDE BODY SHOP TO REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE DEALER'S FINANCE OFFICE ABOUT MY WARRANTY, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NO GLASS REPAIR IS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO SUBMIT UNDER MY COMPREHENSIVE CAR INSURANCE. MY INSURANCE DID ULTIMATELY COVER THE DAMAGE ALTHOUGH THEY WERE RELUCTANT AS THEY FELT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.
I PURCHASED MY 2018 CRV EXL IN LATE NOVEMBER 2018. SINCE THEN THE WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN CHIPPED TWICE (REPAIRED BOTH TIMES) AND CRACKED TWO OTHER TIMES - REQUIRING WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT AT $1,200 (OEM) EACH TIME. I'VE DRIVEN THE SAME NORMAL PAVED ROADS/HIGHWAYS THAT I'VE DRIVEN FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS - HAVING ONLY EXPERIENCED TWO WINDSHIELD CRACKS ACROSS ALL MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES DURING ALL THOSE YEARS. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE COMBINED WITH ACCOUNTS FROM OTHER GEN5 HONDA CRV OWNERS AND OBSERVATIONS BY THE WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP INDICATE THAT GEN5 HONDA CRVS HAVE INSUFFICIENTLY STRONG/DURABLE OEM WINDSHIELDS. AS A RESULT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY SHOULD MY FAMILY BE IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, MY INSURANCE AGENT HAS INFORMED ME THAT ANOTHER WINDSHIELD REPAIR/REPLACEMENT CLAIM IS LIKELY TO INCREASE EITHER MY INSURANCE PREMIUM OR DEDUCTIBLE - ACCORDINGLY I PAID OUT-OF-POCKET FOR THE LAST CHIP REPAIR. I BELIEVE HONDA NEEDS TO DESIGN A STRONGER REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD AND/OR EXTEND THE WARRANTIES TO COVER WINDSHIELD DAMAGE.
ON 9/23/19 PARKED THE VEHICLE. SHUT OFF VEHICLE WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALERT ME THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. GOT OUT OF CAR AND DOOR LOCKED LIKE EVERYTHING WAS OKAY - NO OTHER BEEPS OR NOTIFICATIONS. VEHICLE ROLLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND HIT A TREE CAUSING SIGNIFICANT REAR DAMAGE (THANKFULLY DID NOT HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN). BROUGHT TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ALTHOUGH I EXPLAINED THAT THE WARNING INDICATORS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. FINALLY ON 10/2/19 I VIDEOTAPED AN INCIDENT WHERE IT DID NOT ALERT ME IN ANYWAY WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LEFT IN THE DRIVE GEAR (IMAGES FROM VIDEO ATTACHED). HONDA STATES EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE SHOULD ALWAYS BE ENGAGED; HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT FIX THE FACT THAT THE SAFETY NOTIFICATIONS ARE NOT WORKING AS EXPECTED. DEFINITELY A VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE.
SAFETY LATCH OF THE HOOD FAILED AND THE HOOD CAME UP WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING AND REACHING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THANKS TO LOW SPEED AND NO TRAFFIC I COULD MANAGE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FATAL CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE GONE TO REVISION IN THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA, THEY ARGUED THE VEHICLE PASSED THE MECHANICAL TEST AND THEY REFUSED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE UNSAFE, POOR DESIGN OF THE LATCHING SYSTEM. IT WORTH TO MENTION THAT: 1- THIS VEHICLE HAS THE HOOD RELEASE INSIDE, ACCESSIBLE FOR EXAMPLE TO KIDS, BUT THERE IS NO WARNING INDICATOR AT ALL WHEN THE SAFETY LATCH IS ACTIVATED, OR THE HOOD IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. 2- THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE DASHBOARD LIGHT WARNINGS SIMILAR TO THE ALERT FOR LATERAL DOORS OR REAR DOOR AJAR, EVEN THOUGH THE LATTER CAN BE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS DANGEROUS THAN A HOOD OPENING INCIDENT. 3- THE HOOD SAFETY LATCH CLEARLY FUNCTIONS PROPERLY WHEN LIFTED UP UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH THE CAR STOPPED. HOWEVER, THE SAFETY LATCH FAILS DUE TO CONTINUOUS CHANGES IN THE DIRECTION AND MAGNITUDE OF THE RESULTANT FORCES DUE TO VIBRATIONS, WIND LOAD, ETC. THIS LATCH CANNOT BE CONSIDERED A 'SAFETY' DEVICE, IF IT DOESN'T NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY UNDER ALL REASONABLE CONDITIONS. 4- THIS 2018 YEAR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW BY THE CURRENT OWNER, AND ALL MAINTENANCE CARE IS UPDATED AND ALWAYS COMPLETED BY OFFICIAL (I.E. LICENSED) HONDA SERVICE CENTERS.
THE DESIGN OF THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THERE IS A SHARP EDGE THAT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. MY ELDERLY MOTHER RECEIVED A MINOR LACERATION ON HER LEG FROM THIS DOOR. THE DOOR TRIED TO GET MY BROTHER'S LEG NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT HE WAS WEARING JEANS SO NO LACERATION. THESE OCCURRENCES HAPPENED IN JAN & FEB OF 2019 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING USED TO CARRY PASSENGERS. THE VEHICLE IS NORMALLY JUST USED FOR THE DRIVER WITHOUT HAVING PASSENGERS.
TAILGATE WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I OPENED THE BACKSEAT DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO GET SOMETHING FROM THE BACKSEAT AND WITHIN SECONDS HEARD A LOUD POP. I LOOKED UP AND OUT THE BACK WINDOW AND IT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. IT WAS STILL ALL IN TACT, JUST SHATTERED. I LOOKED AT THE WINDOW AND THERE WAS NO APPARENT REASON WHY IT WOULD HAVE SHATTERED. WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR A LARGE CHUNK FROM THE MIDDLE FELL INTO THE CAR.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH WITH NO TREES OR BRIDGES AROUND IT. WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR THE SUNROOF FELL IN ON ME. IT'S WAS A SPIDERWEB CRACK ACROSS THE ENTIRE ROOF. IT WAS 93 DEGREES AND SUNNY. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ROOF WHEN I CLOSED THE SUN ROOF ABOUT 8 HOURS EARLIER WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK. THE CAR HAS 7K MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE FOR PAST 6 MONTHS WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. AFTER PARKING AND LOCKING THE VEHICLE, AN AUDIBLE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALARM SOUNDED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED, THE AUDIBLE SOUND FOR THE DOOR LOCK WOULD SOUND; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DISPLAY WOULD OCCASIONALLY FLASH ON AND OFF AND THEN GO BLANK. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED TO WORK. COMMUNITY HONDA LAFAYETTE (LOCATED AT 1407 LA 728-8, LAFAYETTE, LA 70501, (337) 235-9086) STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS PROGRAMMED TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING, WHICH WAS A FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED FORGOT TO SAY AS I WAS GOING STRAIGHT ON HWY 90- A CAR WAS ON MY RIGHT IN THE TURN LANE- MY CAR STOPPED AND COPS WERE COMING BEHIND- ALMOST SLAMMED ARE ME IN THE BACK. DOORS NOT LACKING WHEN EXITED.*JB
SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. IT SHATTERED IN 1000S OF PIECES WITH A LOUD, POWERFUL EXPLOSION. BITS OF SHATTERED GLASS PUT SCRATCHES ON THE ROOF. CAR HAS ONLY 4000 MILES.
