The clutch slave cylinder on the KTM 690 / Husqvarna 701 (same engine) is a known weak point. Mine failed after 130 miles on the odometer. When the cylinder seal fails the clutch lever will not allow the driver of the vehicle to disengage the clutch. The driver has two options - avoid stopping because it is unlikely the driver will be able to restart the vehicle or kill the engine at the risk of not being able to get to a safe place to get out of traffic. I took the motorcycle to the dealer (Fay Myers Denver CO) yesterday and was told they have seen the same problem with four other motorcycles just at that dealership. There are many Youtube videos warning owners that the clutch slave cylinder needs to be replaced immediately. I should have followed that advice but I'm wondering why there isn't a recall when this is a known and pervasive problem. One of the Youtube videos mentions that this problem happened to someone who bought the motorcycle and was riding home for the first time from the dealership. There are no warning lamps messages or other symptoms to let the driver know there is a problem. I called customer support Husqvarana at 1 855 282 6227 on Tuesday 7/20 and again today 7/24 and have not received a return phone call. I will likely get the motorcycle back from repairs sometime next week.

WHEELS
Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (CTA) has determined that certain TKC 80 tires fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 119, "New pneumatic tires - other than passenger cars." CTA has initiated a tire safety recall to remove these tires from service. The Husqvarna motorcycle models listed above were originally equipped with TKC 80 brand tires. CTA has determined that groove cracks in the tread rubber developed during internal testing. Groove cracking may appear during the tire service life and can lead to tread separation, increasing the risk of a crash. On the specified 701 Enduro Models listed above only the originally equipped TKC 80 front tire is affected and needs replaced. On the specified FE 250, 350, and 501 Models listed above both the originally equipped TKC 80 front and rear tires are affected and need replaced. Customers that still have originally equipped TKC 80 tires mounted on their motorcycle are eligible to have the recall tire replacement performed by an authorized Husqvarna Motorcycles dealer.

Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain 2018, 2019 and 2020 motorcycles listed above pertaining to the clutch slave cylinder. On affected motorcycles there is a possibility that the bellow style gasket can be damaged caused by deviations during assembly. Damage to the bellow gasket may affect the function of the clutch slave cylinder. This could result in the rider noticing a change in shifting behavior and the clutch becoming inoperable to the point where the clutch will not disengage when the clutch lever is pulled in. To ensure the highest level of safety, performance, reliability and customer satisfaction, it is necessary to replace the clutch slave cylinder on all affected motorcycles that have a bellow style gasket clutch slave cylinder mounted (Fig. 1).
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER
Husqvarna Motorcycles North America, Inc. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with the 2020 701 Enduro LR where abrasion may occur on both fuel lines located on the front fuel tank. To ensure the highest level of safety, performance, reliability and customer satisfaction, it is necessary to install two newly designed fuel lines with an additional clamp that position the fuel lines away from the contact points on the front fuel tank that could cause abrasion.
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
