2025 Hyundai Tucson Exterior lighting Problems

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning light was intermittently illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and attributed the issue to inclement weather. The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle was rear-ended because the brake lights failed to illuminate. The contact sustained lower back and shoulder injuries, was transported by ambulance to the hospital, and required ongoing injection treatments. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and repaired for rear-end and passenger-side damages; however, the cause of the brake lights' failure was not determined. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled and was struck on the front driver's side by another vehicle. The crash caused the vehicle to spin, and the front end detached. The air bags failed to deploy, and a system failure message was displayed. The contact sought medical attention the following day. The contact sustained a dislodged left thumb bone which required surgery, a cast, and injections for left arm pain, as well as shoulder, neck, hip, and aggravated lower back pain. A Police report was filed. The second failure had occurred at [XXX]. The vehicle was towed to the auto body shop at the dealer and repaired; however, neither the dealer nor the insurance adjuster determined the cause of the vehicle stalling. The contact associated the failure with an unknown recall notification. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was unknown. Good morning the problems I am having with my 2025 are very discouraging. Started October of 2025, my tire light illuminated stated the tires were low when they are all at correct specs when using an air guage to check. November of 2025 while driving at night the headlights suddenly shut off briefly then came back back on. January of 2026 while leaving work the transmission would not shift, held accelerator pedal to floor but could not go above 20 mph all the way home for 3 miles. April of 2026 the right side of navigation screen went completely black, shut vehicle off twice and on third restart the screen reilluminated. June of 2026 same thing with the screen going black. I have had my Tuscon at the local dealer here in my town for supposedly a repair that they state was a "coaxel cable" behind the dash that was fixed that was causing this issue. I also had the recall performed for the front view camera software update but it is still showing not completed. This is very frustrating to be having experiencing these kind of issues on this new of a vehicle. Clearly something is going on with the software or something and the dealer keeps telling me they are not finding anything wrong. I am a service advisor myself at a small independent shop so I understand the terms they are using but something needs to be addressed to correct the issues that I am having. It is scary when driving and the screen goes black or driving at night and losing the headlight functions. I would appreciate if somebody will look into this and reach out to me to get some kind of remedy for why this is happening. I am paying alot for this vehicle and to say I am satisifed is an understatement. I have purchased Hyundai as my choice of vehicle due to the quality, great warranties and good reviews from other consumers however I am seriously thinking of exploring alternative makes as I do not want to keep going through this. Plus the engine consumes oil. I have attached p/w for review as well

​Before I owned this car, I used to get so frustrated whenever I was driving behind this type of vehicle because the rear blinkers are mounted so incredibly low in the bottom bumper that you can't see what the driver is doing. Now that I actually own a Hyundai Tucson, I feel completely responsible for the drivers behind me. Because I know how low my blinkers and reverse lights are, I have to turn them on way before I actually turn, and I'm always worried someone will hit me when I'm in reverse. On top of that, my friends who drive behind me constantly tell me how bad it is and how hard it is to see my signals because of how low they sit.

The heads up display and dashboard display go black while driving. Sometimes it flickers on and off repeatedly which is very distracting while driving. When it is off, I cannot see speed, fuel, etc. A recall was issued for this problem, however my vehicle VIN was not included in the recall, meaning the dealer will not address it. Additionally because it happens randomly it is impossible for the dealership to recreate it with the small amount of time they can allot to driving it try to recreate the issue. Because the dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue, it continues.

The HUD and dashboard on 2025 Hyundai tucson hybrid restart intermittently during driving, often during temperature change (e.g. from an indoor parking lot to outside) or on bumpy roads. Sometimes the HUD and the dashboard black out for a while during driving, making it impossible to determine the speed and vehicle conditions. This is threatening to safety on highways. This first happened on my new vehicle at about 5000 miles and was confirmed by a dealer. The dealer replace the main wire harness and the problem went away for a while. Now it comes back at about 8000 miles.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated for approximately 30-seconds to 4-minutes. Additionally, while driving in the daytime, the message “Headlights Off” was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The failure had occurred four times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and suggested that the dealer contact an engineer to go to the residence to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 3,940.

Issue Type: Intermittent Electronic System Failure / Critical Safety Hazard Description of Incident: A severe safety-related incident occurred while driving at night on 12/29/2025, at approximately 5:48 pm. Under fully dark winter conditions in MA, while the vehicle was in motion with the headlights set to AUTO, the following events occurred: Total System Blackout: All interior and exterior lighting systems suddenly failed simultaneously, including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and backlighting for all illuminated buttons and controls. The complete failure of exterior lighting and interior displays resulted in an immediate loss of forward visibility and access to critical driving information. Duration: The blackout lasted approximately two seconds before the system appeared to reboot. Recurrence: Approximately ten seconds after the first incident, the same total blackout occurred again under identical conditions. Vehicle Status: The engine remained running throughout the incidents; however, the simultaneous loss of lighting and instrumentation created an extremely high-risk driving situation. This incident constitutes a critical safety failure. The vehicle had experienced repeated electrical system failures prior to this incident, and was previously presented to the dealer on 8/7/2025 for diagnosis and repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction and failed to take appropriate corrective action to address these issues: 07/13/2025: The Auto Stop function became inactive, and the vehicle failed to accelerate properly after stopping at traffic lights, creating a hazardous driving condition. 07/14/2025: The phone failed to connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system. 07/17/2025: While reversing in a parking lot, the Parking Collision Warning system failed to detect a moving vehicle behind the car. No audible or visual warning was issued, rendering the safety feature ineffective in preventing a potential collision.

The rear brake lights and turn signals on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson are not visible to following drivers due to their low placement and design. Multiple drivers have nearly rear-ended us because they could not see when I was braking or signaling. The lights function electrically, but their position makes them obstructed and not noticeable from normal following distances. This is a serious safety hazard and creates a high risk of rear-end collisions. The dealer confirmed the lights work as designed but cannot change their position. This is a design defect that cannot be repaired and should be investigated for recall.

On 08/31/2025, I was involved in an accident while driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. While attempting to change lanes at highway speed, the driver behind me failed to see my turn signal and collided with my vehicle. I believe the cause was the unusually low placement of the rear bumper-mounted turn signals, which creates a direct visibility flaw. The Tucson’s turn signals are mounted low on the rear bumper instead of at eye level within the taillight assembly. This design makes them especially difficult to see in two critical conditions: Bright Sunlight: The low-mounted signals are easily washed out in daytime conditions, reducing visibility to following drivers. Low Light/Traffic Conditions: At night or in heavy traffic, larger vehicles and brake light glare further obscure the signals. In my case, the driver behind me could not see my intent to switch lanes, and despite my efforts to avoid a collision, the lack of visible signaling directly led to a frontal driver’s side impact. This design presents an ongoing highway safety hazard: Poor Visibility: Low placement reduces signal recognition in both bright and low light. Accident Risk: My collision demonstrates the real-world consequences of this flaw. Durability Concerns: Bumper-level placement exposes wiring to water, debris, and road wear, raising the risk of malfunction. Although the accident resulted in minor damage, the potential for severe outcomes at highway speeds is significant. I respectfully request NHTSA to investigate this design flaw and evaluate whether corrective action (recall, retrofit, or advisory) is warranted. UNKNOWN if Hyundai is currently addressing this issue, but concerns about rear blinker visibility have been widely reported among Tucson owners and auto safety forums.

Vehicle: 2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL Approximate Date of Incident: [XXX] Description of Problem: While driving at normal speed, the dashboard display and exterior lights suddenly turned off, then reset. On Friday, [XXX], around [XXX] PM while traveling home my dashboard lights on the instruments panel and windshield pop up display were out, then back on, then out again, and then back on. On Saturday, [XXX], I traveled to another area about an hour away and all was fine, but on the way home it went out at least 12 times. Sometimes the dashboard light would come back up but not the pop-up display. When these go out I can not see my speed or any alerts that may possibly come up. Drives side headlight has a dark spot on low beam that is in the drivers field of vision. This causes the driver not to be able to see clearly. A certain portion of the drivers field of view is blocked out. Please see the picture below. Took it to the dealer for repair, he acknowledged the black spots were in the drivers field of view but, he compared it to another 2025 Tucson with the same trim on his lot and the headlights were the same. Therefore, their was nothing wrong with the lights. However, he did agree that their were black spots in the drivers field of view that would inhibit the divers ability to see clearly at night.
