2012 INFINITI EX35

Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Overview

Our database contains 5 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2012 INFINITI EX35, most frequently naming the airbags, engine and brakes categories. 103 manufacturer communications are on file.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS. I'VE REPAIRED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING POSSIBLE THAT COMES UP ON THE CODE READER AND NOTHING KEEPS THE ENGINE LIGHT OFF. I'VE GONE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND THEY CANNOT EVERY GUARANTEE THEIR WORK WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. ANOTHER MECHANIC HAS REPAIRED AIR FLOW SENSORS, ETC. AND HE KEEPS TELLING ME IT'S A COMPUTER UPDATE THAT'S NEEDED TO FIX THE LIGHT - NOT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR.

2012 INFINITI EX35 JOURNEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BRAKE FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY ON A MODERATE SLOPE COVERED WITH LIGHT SNOW. THE CONSUMER WENT BACK OUTSIDE STOOD BY THE VEHICLE, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT POPPED OUT OF PARK AND STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE HILL. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO CATCH UP WITH THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE DOOR AND PUT HER FOOT ON THE PARKING BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THREE DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY, WHICH HAD A GRADUAL SLOPE AND SHE APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE 45 MINUTES LATER, SHE WAS SHOCKED TO SEE, THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED AND WAS WEDGED AGAINST THE DIVIDER BETWEEN TWO GARAGE DOORS. THE FENDER WAS DENTED AT THE BACKUP SENSOR. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, ONLY TO BE TOLD, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. A CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP FROM INFINITI INDICATED THE ROLL HAS BEEN REPRODUCED MANY TIMES. SHE STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE BRAKE MECHANISM ENGAGED THE LEFT REAR WHEEL ONLY. IF THERE WAS A SLIGHT SLIPPAGE, SUCH AS, A SNOW COVERED DRIVEWAY, THE TIRE WOULD SLIP AND THE BRAKES WOULD RELEASE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. *JB

TELEMATICS CONTROL UNIT RESET AFTER AUTOMATIC COLLISION NOTIFICATION SERVICE INFORMATION The Telematics Control Unit (TCU) has the ability to send an automatic collision notification when the vehicle is involved in an accident. Once an automatic collision notification is performed, the function becomes disabled and the TCU must be reset to re-enable the automatic collision notification function. Some models will store DTC B2E1B-97 for “Automatic eCAll locked” as “CURRENT” when this function is disabled. This bulletin describes how to reset the TCU after an automatic collision notification has been performed. For models with B2E1B-97 for “Automatic eCAll locked” set as “CURRENT”, complete the SERVICE PROCEDURE starting on page 2, and then erase DTCs after confirming the TCU condition is “UNLOCK”.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
