Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
My vin # [XXX] comes up as a 2 door 2011 infiniti g37. Mine is a 4 door. The problem is the air bag light started to blink and the airbag light would show passenger airbag. I've researched enough about the takata air bag recall and the 2011 infiniti g37 is a part of that recall. It's mind boggling just thinking about the dangers of my vehicle that I need to get to and from work daily as well putting anyone on the passenger seat. I don't even feel safe driving the vehicle anymore. What can be done, its obvious it's not working properly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
The sunroof’s drain ports clogging up is a known common issue to Infiniti dealers, as I have learned while taking my car in after the entire dashboard & electronics shorted out. The mechanic told me this is a common occurrence during the rainy season. Water may intrude the body through the clogged ports and the first location the water goes, happens to be the lower passenger side which ALSO happens to be the location of the body control module (BCM). The car has stopped operating on me in the middle of driving, and also wouldn’t allow me to get out of the gear I was in. What could be a $50 - $150 repair turns into a $2500 - $2800 repair.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that the sunroof drain was leaking, causing water to enter the cabin of the vehicle. There was mold beginning to form in the cabin of the vehicle, with a noticeable mold odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle had been taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the hose for the sunroof drain needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 INFINITI G37. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC, I HAD TO COME TO STOP. I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO TRY AND TAKE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS SOFT AND GOES TO THE FLOOR. THIS RESULTS IN A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. SINCE I COULDN'T TAKE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR, THE CAR DIES AS I COME TO A STOP. THE TRAFFIC BEGINS TO MOVE AGAIN AND I ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR. THE CAR LURCHES FROM THE STARTER AND THE CAR STILL IN GEAR. THE CAR DOES NOT START, BUT I AM ABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF GEAR AND MAKE IT A HALFWAY ONTO THE LEFT SHOULDER. FROM HERE I AM ABLE TO START THE ENGINE BUT STILL CAN'T GET THE CAR IN GEAR AS CARS START MOVING QUICKLY PAST. PUMPING THE CLUTCH PEDAL DOES NOTHING TO BUILD PRESSURE, BUT AFTER REVVING THE ENGINE SLIGHTLY, IT SEEMS TO BUILD A BIT OF PRESSURE AND I AM THEN ABLE TO GET THE CAR IN GEAR AND VERY UNSAFELY (MAX IS ONLY 20MPH IN FIRST GEAR) MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT LANE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY. I CRAWL UNDER THE CAR AND FIND LEAKING CLUTCH FLUID THAT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM INSIDE THE BELL HOUSING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 50K MILES AND IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I PUT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AT RISK THAT DAY AND FEEL LIKE THE FAILURE IN THE CLUTCH HYDRAULIC SYSTEM IS FLAWED AND IS A HUGE SAFELY CONCERN.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
Sunroof drain has malfunctioned multiple times, even after having the Infiniti dealer replace with brand new ones. This was a very expensive repair and has already failed again. Upon searching the internet, this is a known, common problem and Infiniti should have recalled this issue. Water has leaked into my car onto my electronics. Luckily, nothing major has occurred while I was driving like it has for other owners of this same vehicle, but my power functions are malfunctioning because of this flawed component. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by an Infiniti dealer, who also told me that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and sometimes causes the car to shut off while it is being driven. There are no warnings for this issue - just a bunch of water leaking straight into the car and underneath the floorboard, where many electrical components are housed.
I have an electrical dash board that controls my speedometer, gas milage and all the major checks lights that is NOT WORKING. This is the second time I have had this problem and when you research the problem on the internet or YouTube, the infinity owners are saying its a major problem with the car and the computer system. Why hasn't infinity recalled this problem?
Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code DTC B1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275.00, price for lower seat frame is $7695.00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan Vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and Arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000.00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.
My passenger air bag light started suddenly flashing on the instrument panel while a passenger was in the seat. The air bag light sensor shows the air bag isn’t on, even when a passenger is seated. This causes concern because if an accident occurs, it is likely the air bag will not deploy as it appears to be disabled by the sensor. The has been a widely reported problem and should be recalled due to faulty sensor.

Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
Hydraulic clutch fluid overheating causing catastrophic clutch piston failure resulting in not being able to engage, shift, or most importantly disengage the current drive gear in motion. The safety condition of not being able to disengage the operation of the vehicle puts the occupants at risk by limiting the ability to prevent collision. I have experienced this failure approximately every 20,000 miles, leaving the vehicle stranded on the highway with each occurrence of the event.

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
The car has a massive delay when you press on the gas , a few times almost causing an accident for me. I've seen others have this problem also. Is infiniti going to fix this deadly problem
Coming to any situation where I need to change lanes or enter a road . Trying to excel and press the gas pedal the car sort of bogs out and slows you or pulled back. Making it a danger , fatal possibly. You excellent on the gas paddle for both situations I've talked about here, and most cars excellent when you press the gas. The 2011 infinity g37 does not. It slows and pulls you back creating a detrimental situation

Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
Two weeks after having my G37 serviced at the Las Vegas dealership the engine shut down while driving on the freeway at full speed. The car rapidly lost power and speed. The gas peddle was unresponsive and after decelerating, the car would only move forward at very slow speed. A major accident was avoided only through the quick actions of trailing traffic which had to slam on their brakes. After towing back to the dealership they reported the heater hose failed. Their vehicle inspection report provided to me two weeks early reported the heater hoses and connectors where inspected and did not require replacement. When I Questioned this they stated it was a plastic part within the heater hose that failed and they don't check that. I consulted the maintenance manual for the car and at now mileage or time point does infiniti recommend replacing the hose. I have had this car serviced at an Infinity dealership every 7,500 miles since bought new. At no time did they ever recommend replacing the hose. This may be more of a safety issue with Infiniti's service program than the car. But the car computers response to the condition also but driver safety at risk.
DRIVER LOST COMPLETE CONTROL TODAY IN A PARKING LOT. THE BRAKES STEERING AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN PREVENTING ANY CONTROL BY THE DRIVER, THE CAR STOPPED ROLLED AND STOPPED ON ITS OWN. LUCKILY WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WAS INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT.

Error code B1018 for occupant sensor unit failed. Infiniti of Sarasota estimate is $11,013 to repair. Cannot justify spending that much but feel unsafe with airbag deployment. Need information on a resolution.

FOG LIGHTS HAVE WHAT APPEAR TO BE BURN MARKS ON THE INSIDE OF THE LENS. THIS PROBLEM APPEARED WHEN STUCK IN TRAFFIC AFTER ABOUT 1 HOUR. NEXT, THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO HAVE ACTUALLY MELTED AND BECOME EXTREMELY STICKY AND HAS ALSO STARTED TO CRACK. FINALLY, WHENEVER IT RAINS, WATER LEAKS INTO THE CABIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I LOOKED AT WHAT I COULD AND THE SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE APPEARS TO BE INTACT AS FAR DOWN AS I COULD TRACK IT. THE LAST TWO ISSUES ARE A MAJOR PROBLEM ESPECIALLY SINCE WE LIVE IN FLORIDA.
LEFT HEADLIGHT HOLDS HUMIDITY WITHOUT ANY CRACKS OR DAMAGE TO THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. AS A RESULT, LEFT MAIN HEADLIGHT DOES NOT WORK. ELECTRICAL CONTROL UNIT (RADIO, AIR, DISPLAY UNIT) SHUTS OFF SPORADICALLY AND WILL NOT SHUT ON UNTIL CAR IS RESTARTED. LIGHT WITH "SWERVING CAR" WILL NOT SHUT OFF. BRAKE LIGHT SPORADICALLY COMES ON. *TR

STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND COULD NOT UNLOCK WITH KEY NOR COULD DEALER REPAIR SHOP. A DEALER REPAIR PERSON SAID IT WAS NOT UNUSUAL. DEALER WILL HAVE TO BREAK THE LOCK AND REINSTALL AT A COST OF $1,500+. THE CAR ONLY HAS 55,000+MILES, AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ISSUED OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS TO NHTSA. ONE PERSON CITED THAT THE MANUFACTURE OF THE "PART" TOLD NISSAN TO "RECALL" AND REPLACE THE PART. INIFINITY IS A PART OF NISSAN, BUT I HAVE YET TO FIND A "RECALL" ISSUED FOR THAT REASON BY NISSAN NOR ITS SUBSIUARY - INFINITI.

Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
The sidewalk of my tire blew out while driving on the highway in winter conditions. Luckily I was only going about 30 mph when it happened. The tires were advertised as 65,000 mile tires and my one tire catastrophically blew out with only 15000 miles on it. The tires are Cooper adventurer all season 225/55r17
While driving on highway tire blew. There was nothing that I hit or drove over that would’ve caused this damage. Due to it being late at night I had to drive to a safe place before being able to switch to spare tire.

2011 INFINITI G37X SIDE MIRRORS BECOME VERY DISTORTED IN COLD WEATHER. THE DEALER AND INFINITI ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES, WITH NO SUCCESS. AFTER THE 3RD TIME, BOTH THE DEALER AND INFINITI'S CORPORATE OFFICE HAVE STATED THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO EXIST ON ALL INFINITI'S IN THIS MODEL YEAR, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THE DISTORTION CAUSES OBJECTS IN SIDE MIRROR TO BECOME WAVY, HINDERS DEPTH PERCEPTION, AND CAUSES CONFUSION. *TR
