Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

What owners report

Complaints grouped by the component NHTSA recorded

  • Electrical133.3%
  • Engine133.3%
  • Transmission133.3%

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

Safety recalls

No recalls in our database for this model year

That does not guarantee a specific vehicle is unaffected — recalls are issued against VINs, and new campaigns are announced regularly. Check a VIN on NHTSA.gov.

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACK FROM WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. WHICH COULD LEAD TO A ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. INFINITI KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE SUPERSEDED THE PART WITH A NEW PART. THE COST FOR THE NEW MANIFOLDS ARE $1200.00. NOT ONLY DID THEY MAKE FAULTY MANIFOLDS THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO START A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THEY GOUGE THEIR CUSTOMERS $1200.00 FOR REPLACEMENT. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN THE ABOVE MATRIX REGARDING COST. THE MANIFOLDS I HAVE REPLACED THE RIGHT MANIFOLD WITH ONE FROM A SALVAGE YARD. THE LEFT MANIFOLD I HAD WELDED BACK TOGETHER BECAUSE YOU CANNOT FIND ONE IN A SALVAGE YARD THAT ISN'T CRACKED. DOOR LOCKS: INFINITI ALSO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS, IN THAT THEY LOCK AND UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. ANOTHER SAFTEY PROBLEM, WHEN THE DOORS LOCKS WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE THE CAR, THE MANUAL OVERRIDE EITHER DOESN'T WORK OR THEY DON'T HAVE A MANUAL OVERIDE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD TO GET ANOTHER GUY OUT OF HIS CAR THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY WIFE HAS HAD ANOTHER GUY COME AND TELL HER NOT TO LEAVE HER KEYS IN THE CAR RUNNING, OR THE CAR MIGHT LOCK HER OUT. TO ANSWER YOU QUESTION ABOVE REGARDING COST, I COULD NOT GIVE YOU AN ANSWER BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. WE JUST KEEP THROWING MORE TIME AND LABOR AT THE PROBLEM. IN ANY CASE WHEN INFINITI BUILDS A CAR THAT HAS AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD PROBLEM THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF STARTING THE CAR ON FIRE, AND THEY HAVE A DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM THAT CAN LOCK YOU IN THE CAR WITH NO MANUAL OVERIDE, I BELIEVE THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. I THINK THAT THESE CARS SHOULD GET RECALLED ON THESE ITEMS THAT I MENTIONED. THANK YOU, [XXX]. *AK PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

EXTERIOR CLEANING INFORMATION SERVICE INFORMATION When cleaning the exterior of an Infiniti vehicle, damage may occur when using a cleaner with too high of an alkaline concentration. - Always refer to the Appearance and care section of the related owner?s manual. - Not all cleaners are created equal. - Many cleaners come in concentrated form. - Alkaline cleaners (cleaners with a high pH value) can cause spots on paint and trim when not used as directed. - Some commercial car washes use cleaners with a high pH value. - When using cleaners that meet the conditions defined in the Appearance and care section, be sure to carefully follow the cleaner?s directions. - When finished cleaning/washing, rinse thoroughly with clean water. IMPORTANT: Damage to paint, glass, bright metal, or any other exterior surface caused by using improper cleaning products is not covered under warranty. Always refer to the Paint Incident Identification Manual (PIIM) and Assurance Products Reference Manual (APRM). Follow the guidelines in the PIIM and APRM for non-warrantable exterior body, glass, or painted surface quality issues. To access the PIIM and APRM, login to nnanet.com: - For the PIIM, select: MY LINKS > Warranty > Paint Incident Identification Manual - For the APRM, select: MY DOCUMENTS > Warranty > APRM See further information in this bulletin.

EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE

PLASTIC INTERIOR TRIM PROTECTIVE COVERING REMOVAL SERVICE INFORMATION Vehicles are delivered with plastic interior trim protective covering on the front and rear seats, front and rear door panel finishers, steering wheel, and sun visors (see examples on page 2). When removing the protective covering, care must be used to avoid scuffs, scrapes, cuts, and other abrasive contact to interior trim components. DO NOT use sharp objects like razor blades, box cutters, knives, etc. when removing the plastic interior trim protective covering. IMPORTANT: All soft trim described in this bulletin is on automatic return to NNA. Any trim found damaged in the way described in this bulletin will be charged back to the dealer.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
