Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I am filing a complaint regarding a safety-related failure of the driver’s seat bracket in my vehicle. The bracket has broken, causing the driver’s seat to rock back and forth while the vehicle is in motion. I took the vehicle to an authorized dealer for inspection, and they confirmed that the seat bracket has failed. I was also informed that the replacement part is no longer in production and is unavailable. This condition poses a significant safety risk. A loose or unstable driver’s seat can impair vehicle control, increase driver distraction, and reduce the effectiveness of seatbelt and airbag systems in the event of a crash. As a result, this defect substantially increases the likelihood of an accident and the risk of serious injury. I am aware that there have been numerous similar complaints regarding this issue, yet no recall has been issued. Given the safety implications and apparent frequency of this defect, I believe this matter warrants further investigation and corrective action.

I was driving home recently and the back of my seat near the base gave out on me, the lower back/bottom raising motor was working but the seat was not going up. Upon inspection I found that the welds on the seat bracket had broken, going online and searching found me countless forums of seat brackets breaking during driving. Two main issues with this 1. I almost lost control due to the sudden drop 2. If I was to get into a collision the seat is not secure whatsoever. This is not an uncommon issue and I am astonished no recall has been given Sources of similarity [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE MY CAR SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 20MPH AND IWOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE SLIP INDICATOR/VOC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL I WAS ABLE TO DO WAS MAKE IT TO THE EXIT WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR WAS THE CAUSE. I TESTED BOTH AND BOTH WERE GOOD. I WAS BEEN TRYING TO TRACK DOWN THE PROBLEM AND HAD BEEN AT A LOSS UNTIL I STARTED TO INVESTIGATE DISCOVERING THAT SEVERAL 07 INFINITY MODELS HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SIMILAR ISSUE AS MINE.

Crash reported1 injury reported
On 7/13/21 afternoon, I parked my car in a parking garage of Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, IN. Around 6 pm, as I was backing out of my parking spot on reverse gear and turning the steering wheel, the car seemed sluggish. So, I pressed the accelerator -- lightly, I believe . All of a sudden, the car just took off, moving backward very fast in a semicircle. It first hit the back of a parked car with its front right side and then a concrete wall with its back with tremendous force. I was alone in the car. I called my wife. She came from our home and called 911. The university police and medic arrived promptly, as did two of our friends. One friend drove my wife and me to IU Health Hospital emergency in Lafayette, IN, and the other friend waited at the accident spot for AAA to come. Apparently, AAA came a little later and towed the car to Nissan of Lafayette body shop. Based on the x-rays and CT scans done at the emergency, the attending physician's assistant told me -- apparently, after consulting with a neurosurgeon -- that I suffered two fractures in a neck bone ("transverse process of cervical vertebra"). She gave me a hard collar and asked me to wear it 24 hours a day, expect when taking a shower, for 6 to 8 weeks. She also asked me to see a neurosurgeon, whom I will see on 7/26/21. The body shop person I spoke with next day told me that the car would likely be totaled (the car is still there). Since then, I have been thinking why the car moved so fast and also searching the web to find out any reason for it. Could it be an instance of the "sudden acceleration" problem? I must say that I have been driving Infiniti cars for many years. I have been very pleased with them so far, as well as the service provided by Infiniti dealers, especially my current one, Dreyer & Reinbold Infiniti of Indianapolis. I have decided to inform NHTSA of this accident so that no other person driving an Infiniti car meets with an accident like this.

I have a 2007 Infiniti M35S that has been garaged kept since purchase. My dashboard has started to crack and exude a shiny, sticky, messy substance. I do not know whether this substance is toxic to the touch or my respiratory system. I have never used any type of cleaner or solvents on my dashboard, only a microfiber towel and water. I'm not sure how to answer how my safety or the safety of others is at risk since I don't know what the particular substance is. Secondly does the fragile state of the dashboard put me and my passengers at greater risk of injury with the discharge of an airbag. I have read several complaints where other Infiniti owners are experiencing the same issue with Infiniti vehicles circa 2006 - 2008. Infiniti should do the right thing and fix this problem!!

THE LEFT FRONT DRIVER SEAT BEGAN MOVING SLIGHTLY FWD/BACK WHEN BRAKING AND ACCELERATING AT @ 75K MILES. THEN THAT ASSEMBLY JUST BROKE (SEAT SETTLED) AS I GOT IN THE CAR ONE DAY AND I CAN NO LONGER MOVE IT BACK AND FORTH OR UP/DOWN AT ALL. SO RAIL BROKE AND THEN THE SEAT MOTOR DIED. I HAVE READ OF SO MANY OF THESE STORIES WITH THIS YEAR VEHICLE. UPON RESEARCH, I FOUND THEY ONLY USED THIS ASSY FROM 5/2006 TO 9/2007. I HAVE TO BELIEVE NISSAN/INFINITI KNEW THEY HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS DESIGN. *TR

I HAVE NOTICED MY DASH IS MELTING TERRIBLY BAD ITS NOW HAS SOFT SPOTS AND IS NOW SUPER STICKY FROM MELTING AND CRACKING AND CHIPING OFF IN SOME AREAS WHERE IT HAS MELTED AND THEN CRACKED AS IT HARDENED BACK. IF I TRY TO CLEAN IT WITH CLEANER MADE FOR DASHES THE COLOR JUST SMEARS AND THE DASH MATERIAL ITS SELF SMEARS AND ANY KIND OF CAR CLOTH JUST LEAVES PATCHES OF STUFF FROM THE DASH BEING STICKY AND MELTED. THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM I AM FINDING ALL OVER THE WEB. WHY ARE OUR DASHES NOT BEING FIXED? THIS CAN CAUSE MAJOR ISSUES IF I WAS TO GET INTO A WRECK AND THE DASH JUST CRUMBLES OR SQUISHES BECAUSE ITS MELTED.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON A NORMAL CITY STREET IN REGULAR TRAFFIC, THE DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY STARTED MOVING FORWARD, POWERED BY THE SEAT CONTROL. I REACHED DOWN TO PUSH THE LEVER/SEAT CONTROL BACK, BUT THE SEAT MOTOR WOULD NOT STOP; IT PUSHED THE SEAT FULLY FORWARD. I STOPPED THE CAR TO MOVE IT BACK AND WAS UNABLE TO. THE OTHER SEAT FUNCTIONS WORKED: UP, DOWN, TILT, ETC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE LAST THREE TIMES THE SEAT MOTOR HAS STARTED WORKING AGAIN OF ITS OWN ACCORD. THIS TIME IT IS STILL STUCK FORWARD.

DURING NORMAL OPERATION, THE SEAT HAS FAILED IN IT'S ORIGINAL DESIGN INTENT. I BELIEVE THAT THE A FAILURE IN SOME COMPONENT UNDER THE SEAT CAUSED STRESS ON THE PIVOT POINT FOR UP-DOWN MOVEMENT IN THE SEAT AND OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME THE POINT FINALLY SHEARED. I BELIEVE THE EXTENSIVE STRESS WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF THE AUTOMATIC SEAT MOVEMENT THAT OCCURS WHEN THE DRIVER ENTERS AND EXITS THE VEHICLE THE BRACKET WHICH ALLOWS THE SEAT TO MOVE UP AND DOWN WITH THE POWERED CONTROL HAS FAILED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE LEFT FRONT BUCKET SEAT. THE SEAT NOW MOVES FREELY FORWARD AND BACK AND POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK TO MYSELF AND ANYONE ELSE WHO MIGHT BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS PUTS ME IN A TERRIBLE POSITION BECAUSE AS A CONCERNED CONSUMER I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE FACT THAT AN ACCIDENT COULD BE FATAL DUE TO COMPONENT FAILURES. SHOULD I MOVE FORWARD WITH GETTING RID OF THE VEHICLE, EITHER BY SELLING IT TO ANOTHER PERSON OR TRADING IN THE VEHICLE, I PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN RISK AND/OR WILL TAKE A HUGE LOSS ON THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION WHICH WAS CAUSED BY POOR DESIGN AND/OR QUALITY TESTING. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED BY NISSAN USA IMMEDIATELY!

THE DRIVER SEAT REAR BRACKET BROKE UNDER NORMAL USE AND HAS RESULTED IN THE SEAT NOT BEING SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. I WAS ENTERING THE PARKED VEHICLE WHEN IT BROKE. AS A RESULT THE SEAT FLIPS FORWARD WHEN STOPPING WHICH IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. JUDGING BY THE HUNDREDS (M/B THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE) THIS IS CLEARLY A MAJOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NISSAN SHOULD REPAIR AT NO COST TO OWNERS.

THIS IS THE ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION THAT I OWN, IT IS NOT ONLY INCONVENIENT NOT TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE OTHERS AROUND (I HAVE 2 KIDS) BUT IT MAKES ME WORRIED ABOUT MYSELF. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THEM TO GET THE PARTS TO REPLACE THIS ISSUE? HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE TO ENDURE THIS INCONVENIENCE AND STRESS? IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 2 YEARS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 INFINITI M35. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED AND THE SEAT LOOKED AS IF IT WERE POSITIONED INCORRECTLY AND UNBALANCED. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ADJUST THE SEAT, IT FAILED TO MOVE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (INFINITI SUITLAND, 4800 BRANCH AVE, SUITLAND, MD, 20746) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME /LEVER FAILED AND THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
