2022 Jeep Wrangler Steering Problems

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle went into the death wobble. while vehicle is driving multiple dash alarms will start cycling through including stop/start, service electronic stability control, speed control messaging unavailable, service airbag system, service 4WD, engine light and ABS light, anti skid lights all come on, the speedometer goes to zero, and the power steering goes out. Driving highway speeds and suddenly having no power steering is a safety issue as well as being unsure if airbags etc are even functioning any longer. The problem has happened multiple times. The vehicle was inspected by a Jeep dealership as well as another shop in town and the codes were reproduced. They were unable to fix the issue and despite testing a "star connector" and finding it in good condition and unable to reproduce the issues were advised to replace that part anyway and see if they could reproduce the problem again at my expense. During this time the recall for 2022 Jeep Wranglers with NHTSA campaign number 26V363 came out and i requested to wait for further repair work to be done until the recall was repaired as it also relates to the power steering. I saw a fix had been published and return to the dealership to have the recall repair performed and was told that upon further inspection of the recalled part, mine passed the test, which was apparently a wiggle the wire and inspect the harness for ware only and my vehicle is no longer listed on the recall. I feel these things may still be related and I am extremely frustrated that I have a 4 year old vehicle that I am making payments on and paying insurance on that has been parked (not in my garage as it was a fire risk in the recall) and I don't feel its safe to drive and don't feel that Jeep or the local dealership are being honorable with their product.

how this vehicle has not been recalled is hard to comprehend how can no one care about safety ? I purchased (8/24)this vehicle used from Carvana. Since then I have had issues first the jeep death wobble (google it we’ll know to keep general public and i am certain you) When the vehicle reaches speeds over 55mph it shakes uncontrollably feels like vehicle is going to fall into pieces on the road hard to control immediately must slow down. The vehicle then has had countless battery recalls and still no fix. I am a mailman I work very hard for my money. I was hoping to save money with gas by plugging in vehicle but because of warnings from jeep I am unable to do that. The vehicle has so many known issues the price has plummeted. The vehicle because of this no one will take on trade or cannot be sold. How a company can get away with this is hard to understand please restore my confidence for consumers please

My 2022 Jeep Wrangler is subject to NHTSA Recall 26V363000 involving power steering wiring that may overheat and cause a vehicle fire. I was advised of the safety risk and informed that repair parts are not expected to be available until approximately August 2026. Due to the risk of fire, I do not feel safe keeping this vehicle at my home or parked near my residence until the recall repair is completed. The dealership has advised that no repair is currently available. I am requesting assistance from the manufacturer, including alternate transportation, a loaner vehicle, or other accommodations, until the safety defect can be repaired. I believe it is unreasonable to require owners to continue possessing a vehicle with a known fire risk while the recall remedy is unavailable for an extended period.

When driving down the road my jeep goes into an uncomfortable death wobble. It has already been to a dealer to fix this once but it isn’t . There is a weld defect in the driver side front and passenger door frame . When the electronics get hot from the summer heat they black out . The digital display is not calibrated to the odometer of the vehicle . The Jeep surges violently and almost caused a collision.

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon that is included in FCA Recall 21D (NHTSA Recall 26V-363). According to FCA, high resistance electrical activity in the electric hydraulic power steering pump connection may cause overheating of combustible materials and potentially result in a vehicle fire. FCA and NHTSA have advised owners to park affected vehicles away from structures and other vehicles until a remedy is available. On or about June 2026, I contacted my local dealership, Lee Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, 3700 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896, to schedule the recall repair. I was informed that there are currently no repair parts available and no remedy available. I was further advised that there is nothing I can do to prevent the defect from occurring and that the dealership would not notify me when parts become available. The only recommendation provided was not to park near anything flammable. My Jeep is my primary means of transportation, and I rely on it daily for work and family obligations. I continue making payments and maintaining insurance on a vehicle that the manufacturer acknowledges may present a fire risk. I believe it is unreasonable and unsafe to expect consumers to continue operating these vehicles without an available remedy or meaningful assistance. I have enrolled in the Mopar notification system to be notified when repair parts become available. I request that NHTSA review FCA's handling of this recall and determine whether additional action is necessary to protect affected consumers.

Multiple recalls on jeep 4xe starting with the hybrid system from charging to the battery. Ultimately not fixable per Stellantis. Now electrical components in steering that present possible fire hazard at anytime. Not to mention the fact that if it can cause a fire, then the steering could fail in some unexpected way while driving, leading/contributing to an accident with serious injury or death. These combined make the car generally unreliable, potentially unsafe, and increase depreciation.

Unsure of the part or system that failed, however the auxiliary battery and power distribution system part was replaced previously and did not correct the problem. My safety was at risk when the speed and steering were affected. An independent service center worked on it and reproduced it. The car electronic system went through every warning light system while driving. "Stop/start not ready", "engine light", "airbag light", "service electronic stability control", SERV 4WD, ABS, BRAKE, "service airbag system", tire pressure monitoring, seatbelt light, "speed control messaging unavailable service required", and gas light all came on while driving. Speed was reduced and steering wheel locked up and released several times during the event.

In reference to Recall 21D / NHTSA 26V363, FCA has directed Jeep Wrangler owners not to park inside or near my home due to a fire risk. My local Jeep dealership and FCA have denied to offer a loaner vehicle, and they have denied my request to cover a rental vehicle. This only leaves me with the option to abandon my primary form of transportation, or drive a known fire hazard. I do not have an open space free of other combustible materials available to park my recalled vehicle, and driving the vehicle would create heat and increase the likeliness of a fire. FCA stated I would need to obtain a "Repair Order" from the dealership before they would consider covering a rental vehicle. However, the dealership stated they are not making appointments or taking vehicles under this recall at this time since there is no repair available. I contacted Sandy Sansing CDJR in Milton, FL on 06/11/2026 at approximately 12:47pm CST to inquire about appointment availability and the possibility of a loaner vehicle. I was directed by the service department to contact FCA directly as they did not have any loaner vehicles available. I contacted FCA the first time on 06/11/2026 at approximately 2:43pm CST. I contacted FCA again on 06/11/2026 at approximately 4:13pm CST to open a Star Case. For the answers to the recommended questions, the components involved are the hydraulic steering system components and nobody's safety has been put at risk at this time. The problem has not been reproduced outside of the events that led to the recall. The vehicle has not been inspected yet as the dealer is not making appointments for this issue at this time. No warning lamps related to this recall have appeared as of the time of writing.

On 12/17/2025, my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (VIN [XXX] , 15,871 miles) experienced violent front-end oscillation — known as "death wobble" — while my daughter was driving on the highway at approximately 50–55 mph after encountering a road imperfection. The steering wheel and front suspension shook violently side-to-side. Vehicle control was significantly impaired and she had to slow substantially to stop the oscillation. Video of the incident is attached. The vehicle is completely stock: OEM suspension, tires, and wheels, no lift, no aftermarket modifications. I took it the same day to Safford Brown Jeep, an authorized Jeep dealer. They diagnosed the issue and replaced the front suspension steering damper. Repair cost $800 out of pocket. The dealer called it out of warranty because the 3-year basic warranty had elapsed, despite the vehicle having only 15,871 miles — well under the 36,000-mile warranty limit. A safety-critical steering defect at this mileage on a fully stock vehicle is consistent with a manufacturing or design defect, not wear or modification. This is a known, dangerous defect in Jeep solid-front-axle vehicles. NHTSA has received hundreds of complaints on prior Wrangler model years, and Stellantis (FCA) entered a 2023 class-action settlement covering 2018–2020 Wranglers and 2020 Gladiators with an 8-year/90,000-mile steering damper warranty extension. The 2022 model year was excluded despite exhibiting the same defect. I am filing this complaint to document that the issue persists in post-2020 Wranglers and request NHTSA evaluate whether a safety defect determination and recall is warranted for 2021+ model years. No crash, fire, or injuries — but loss of steering control at highway speed is a serious crash risk, especially with a young driver behind the wheel. My dealer is charger me for this issue which is costing me around 1200 usd and they are going to change the parts 1. Damper, Steering, 2. Tie rod end-outer-right or left for both sides. This is something which should have been covered under recall as its a serious safety issue.

Driving at highway speed (65-70mph) on curve with slight road surface deviation experienced the infamous "Death Wobble". Slowed to 45-50 mph before vehicle steering returned to normal. The steering dampener was previously replaced to fix the first time this happened. Apparently this is not a fox.

I am filing this complaint regarding serious safety and consumer protection concerns involving my 2022 Jeep Wrangler (VIN: [XXX] ), manufactured by Stellantis, as well as issues involving the towing company E&R Towing following my accident. Prior to my accident on November 8, 2025, my vehicle experienced multiple ongoing mechanical issues, including overheating, shaking while driving, and abnormal loud noises. These issues raised serious safety concerns and were not properly resolved. On November 8, 2025, I was involved in a rollover accident. Following the accident, Stellantis initiated an investigation and retained Bosch/Engineering Analysis Associates to extract Event Data Recorder (EDR) data from my vehicle. While presented as an independent inspection, this analysis was conducted by a vendor hired by Stellantis, raising concerns about the objectivity and scope of the findings. Stellantis ultimately denied responsibility, stating that the conditions of the crash did not meet the threshold for airbag deployment. However, this conclusion fails to address the ongoing mechanical and safety issues I experienced prior to the accident, including the possibility of system or sensor malfunction. Additionally, my claim for relief under Illinois Lemon Law was denied without fully considering the pattern of defects and safety concerns. I have also filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Complaint #XXX, regarding safety concerns with this vehicle. Following the accident, my vehicle was handled by E&R Towing. I have concerns regarding how my vehicle was managed after the crash, including the handling process and lack of transparency regarding procedures and fees. Vehicle communication failures. One point unable to start the vehicle. Then the wipers and all warning lights came on without being able to turn the vehile off. Had to disconnect both batteries while the wipers destroyed themselves on a dry windshield. This is also causing a Service Shifter warning light then total loss of power steering while driving down the road at any speed. This includes highway speeds. Dealer replaced power steering system with no resolution. Thousands of dollars in repair. Dealer stated they repaired wiring. Did not fix the issue. Now it is more intermittent. When the communication between modules is not functioning properly it disables the power steering even while driving. This is extremely dangerous and I can no longer trust my vehicle. There are thousands of reports and or reviews about this issue. Someone has to be held accountable. I have spent thousands and my Dealer spent weeks trying to resolve the issue. Jeep has roughly 37000 miles. This is an on going issue since October of 2025.

I have experienced what is call "death wobble" multipletimes. This is a 2022 with 30k millage. It has been to a service center three times and the drag link with ends has been replaced twice. The problem continues and only happens at highway speed. This issue has put us in what could have been a serious accident with semi-trucks on 50+ mph multiple times. I feel like this is a possible life threatening situation. I have a dash cam video of this happening and have had multiple servers centers inspect it. They have not been able to reproduce the issue, highly intermittent. To have an authorized agent look at it, I will have to pay a $229 diagnostic fee. When this death wobble occurs, there is no warning at all.

This event raised serious safety concerns, as the vehicle appeared prone to instability and unsafe operation. I’m writing to ask for you all to honor the recall for my jeep. I purchased a 2022 Jeep Wrangler in April of 2025 Months after the purchase I began to notice that on certain road conditions that my vehicle would shake violently back and forth at higher speeds if I hit a bump. As you can tell this causes great concern for mine and my children's well being. My teen son is also driving my vehicle which is also a concern. I've had it looked at by multiple shops who all state that the vehicle has a recall on the steering damper as it can create a death wobble. I attempted to take it to the Jeep dealership in Boulder, CO who refused to look at it stating my jeep doesnt count. However the mechanic and online states that it will honor any jeep that appears to have this issue to be looked at and fixed as you all were sued and claimed to have fixed the problem yet it still continues, and Jeep offers this as an extended offer for all jeeps. Jeep is refusing to honor the extended recall. So I am filing a complaint to get this fixed as this issue is not of my doing, not wear and tear.

I'm Experiencing a KNOWN Jeep issue called the "DEATH WOBBLE". I only have 17800 miles on the vehicle and I'm 6 months out of warranty. when this vehicle gets into the death wobble mood it becomes totally uncontrollable and extremely unsafe to drive. the driver needs to slow down to under 40MPH or to a complete stop for it to stop. You can be driving at 65 MPH and the vehicle will go into convulsions, I feel it is SO dangerous I will not allow my wife to drive it.

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. On 12/13/2025 while driving 50 - 60 MPH, the vehicle started shaking/vibrating violently after going over bumps, in what I've heard is the "Death Wobble". The steering wheel did not shake as much as the entire vehicle shook. Which recurred several times while driving, feeling as if the jeep would lost control and crash. The vehicle is scheduled to be taken to my mechanic who stated that it was the steering damper leading to other steering issues.
