The defect: KTM North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2023 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, and 2022-2024 KTM 390 Adventure motorcycles. Water could enter the throttle (e-throttle) control unit and cause it to fail, resulting in loss of drive power.
The risk: Loss of drive power while riding increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: KTM and Husqvarna dealers will inspect and replace the e-throttle control, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 30, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. KTM's number for this recall is KTB2606 and HTB2603. The VINs involved in this recall became searchable on March 31, 2026.

The contact owns 2022 KTM 390 Adventure. The contact stated that he contacted the dealer regarding a recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number 25V598000 (Vehicle Speed Control) and 26V196000 (Vehicle Speed Control). The contact stated that the dealer wanted to charge for the repair due to having to remove and aftermarket part that was not original on the vehicle to get to the inner housing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact believed that dealer failed to remedy the safety recall at no charge.

While riding my 2022 KTM 390 Adventure motorcycle, the throttle stopped working and the motorcycle came to a sudden stop on a busy road which almost caused me to be struck by another vehicle. I later shut off the motorcycle and then turned it back and the throttle began to work; about a mile down the road the throttle stopped working again and almost caused me almost to be hit again. I once again turned the motorcycle back on and i was able to get home carefully. Upon further examination when I arrived home, I found out KTM has a safety recall but not a full recall. I was able to verify this information on KTM's website. I called two dealers to get my motorcycle fixed, and one said there is no recall and the other one said there is and there are currently no parts available to fix my motorcycle; so as of right now my motorcycle is unusable. There is nothing further.

However, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and instructed the contact to stop riding the motorcycle. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN tool showed no open recall.

The contact owns a 2022 KTM 390 Adventure. The contact stated that while riding at 50-55 MPH, the motorcycle lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure recurred while riding at 35 MPH on another occasion. The motorcycle was towed to the dealer, where the throttle control unit was replaced under warranty; however, the failure recurred while riding at 10-20 MPH. The contact stated that the motorcycle was inoperable and required to be towed each time the failure occurred. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V598000 (Vehicle Speed Control), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The motorcycle was not repaired. The contact had stopped riding the motorcycle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.

The contact owns a 2022 KTM 390 Adventure R. The contact stated while riding approximately 10 MPH, the rear axle nuts and bolts detached and the rear tire wobbled. No warning lights were illuminated. The motorcycle was towed to the residence and had not yet been taken to an independent mechanic or local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,430.

KTM North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain model motorcycles listed above. On certain motorcycles, water could enter the throttle (e-throttle) control unit and cause it to fail. A loss of engine power increases the risk of a crash. To remedy this defect, the original e-throttle assembly on all affected motorcycles must be replaced with the new e-throttle assembly that is now available.

KTM North America, Inc. has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists with certain 2022, 2023 and 2024 390 ADVENTURE motorcycles. On certain motorcycles, water could enter the throttle (e-throttle) control unit and cause it to fail. A loss of engine power increases the risk of a crash. To ensure the highest level of safety, performance, reliability and customer satisfaction, it is necessary to replace the e-throttle assembly on all affected motorcycles. Due to the replacement e-throttle assembly not being available the e-throttle assembly replacement on affected motorcycles can’t be performed at this time.
