While unloading cargo from the rear of my 2025 Mazda CX-70, I activated the power liftgate(key was in pocket ) to close while i was reach back cargo . As the liftgate was closing, it struck me in my head and continued closing instead of stopping or reversing. I had to quickly move out of the way to avoid further injury. The obstacle detection feature did not appear to function as expected. I am concerned this could cause injuries to other owners, especially children or older adults.When I demonstrated my concern to the dealership using a soft pillow ( today when i wen to change oil 7-31-26), the liftgate compressed the pillow before reversing only a few inches. I remain concerned that the obstacle detection system may not provide adequate protection if a person is in the path of the liftgate.

Vehicle Information I am reporting multiple persistent safety-related defects in my 2025 Mazda CX-70 that began immediately after purchase and continue despite repeated service visits, software updates (including MSP66 on July 9, 2026), and good-faith repair attempts. These defects substantially impair the vehicle’s safety, drivability, reliability, and security. • Warning Lights & Phantom Braking: Brake messages and related warnings on the cluster appeared on the drive home from the dealership shortly after purchase, even with no obstacles present. Intermittent false warnings have continued. • Shifter / Transmission Behavior & Hard Shifting: Intermittently fails to engage Drive after Neutral (especially after car washes). The shifter moves to D but the vehicle remains in Neutral. Notable hard shifting and intermittent poor power acceleration have also been observed. Video evidence provided to dealer. • Door Lock & Latch Failures: Doors intermittently fail to lock or unlock via key fob or interior switches. Doors sometimes do not open when pulling handles. Auto-lock does not always engage. I have observed the vehicle automatically lock (audible sound and folding mirrors) only for it to be found unlocked the next morning. Passengers have been trapped inside on multiple occasions. These issues raise serious entrapment, safety, and theft concerns. • Hybrid System / i-Stop Malfunctions: Repeated MyMazda app alerts for “Hybrid system malfunction. Vehicle would not restart from I-Stop shut down causing me to have to put it back into park and restart the vehicle. • i-Active system failures: The i-Active system occasionally disengages even during clear weather. Dealership states this can sometimes happen due to direct sunlight and sensors? • During a previous discussion with Mazda Customer Care, they stated that they notes a previous power train failure on their end which I was unaware of.

Multiple instances while driving on the highway with cruise control and lane keep assist on - on a bend slight turn the car veered into the other lane across the lane lines - even with other cars present. Additionally, it does not auto steer away from a blind spot collision - had I not noticed the car there would have been an accident.

This happens often. On a trip to Florida of 1200 miles, it happened 12 times each way. After being slowed in the right lane by a car in front driving slower tan my set cruise speed, I signal and move to an empty (in front of me) left lane. Instead of accelerating to resume my set cruise speed, the car decelerates abruptly by as much as 10 mph. If a car is following me and most logically is expecting me to accelerate after moving to the left lane, that car's driver is surprised and risks rear ending me. I took the car in to service this issue. Mazda has a Service Alert (SA-007/24. The conclusion of the SA is basically it is what it is. I think that this is a serious safety issue. I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with adaptive cruise control and it never does this. Maxda's system is deficient. The NHTSB should analyze and compare adaptive cruise control systems.

While driving at a speed just under 45 mph, my Mazda CX-70 suddenly displayed and chimed “Hybrid System Malfunction. Have Vehicle Inspected.“. This warning startled me because I am familiar with issues since I had briefly owned a CX-90 PHEV the first year this model came out and it had the same exact problem. I discovered that this issue carries serious safety concerns and ended up convincing the dealer to swap the vehicle for a CX-90 inline 6 gas only model after hours of pleading. I ended up signing up for another lease a couple of years later with this current CX-70 PHEV, as I was told that the “bugs” have pretty much been worked out so I would give it another try. This warning continued to stay on as I drove for a few minutes so I immediately took the car straight to the Mazda dealership service department where it was kept 24 hours. The dealer said that the issue resolved itself - something to do with not driving the vehicle interchangeably enough between gas and EV mode. The photo was taken once I slowed down to stop at an intersection since it took me 15 minutes to drive to the dealer.

There have been several false blind spot monitoring alerts since I received vehicle. It seems to get worse with time. Now on freeway trips it’s almost constant leaving no trust with alerts

This has occurred numerous times. Using the adaptive cruise control, the vehicle decelerates as I approach a slower moving vehicle. That is what it should do. When I move from the right lane to the open left lane, instead of accelerating back to the set cruise speed, the car decelerates as much as 10 mph before finally regaining its mind and accelerating to the set speed. I have had cars following me that are expecting my car to accelerate that are surprised that the car decelerates. This happens on straight roads with no car ahead of me in the left lane.

The steering wheel on the car will often get stuck and not return to the normal position when turning. Happens at low speeds on on/off ramps and at interstate speeds when the road slightly shifts. “Jerking” the steering wheel is often required to get the car to drive straight and return to normal driving position.

CSP14 – 2024-2026 CX-90 Subject: Mazda Rear Brake Pad Customer Service Program Limited Warranty Extension – (CSP14 – CX-90 models) - Phase 1 Mailing – May 2026 In late April we announced two Customer Service Programs (CSP14 & CSP15) where certain vehicles are covered under these two Limited Warranty Extensions, (defined as “Covered Vehicle”); 2024-2026 CX-90 (CSP14) and 2025-2026 CX-70 (CSP15) produced November 18, 2025 and prior. Owner Notification: We are pleased to announce the first phase of Owner Letters will mail on May 29, 2026, to approximately 18,000 owners in campaign CSP14. As stated in our prior communication, we will send subsequent dealer emails with future phased mailings planned throughout Summer 2026. We have also released the Repair Procedure under TSB 04-003/26, the Parts & Warranty information and updated all dealer-facing FAQ documents. ATTENTION ALL DEALERS - Vehicles to be repaired: Due to limited parts supply only the vehicles in this notice can be repaired. To help your Mazda dealer staff identify which vehicles can be repaired we have created an Excel-based VIN look-up tool in Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) under this campaign. Please enter the VIN in the tool if the customer does not have their parts available letter to confirm the vehicle can be repaired under this CSP. At this time, remaining customers in CSP14 and CSP15 must wait to receive notice that parts are available. Key Benefits of the Customer Service Program-Extended Warranty Coverage for Rear Brake Squeal: Mazda is expanding the standard brake pad coverage from 1-year/12,000 miles to 3-years/36,000 miles to cover repairs related to rear brake squeal. The owner is eligible for a one‑time replacement of redesigned rear brake pads at no cost if the brake squeal symptom matches a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) which will be published prior to sending the Second notification. The redesigned brake pads will be covered under the vehicle’s original 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, or 1 year/12,000 miles from installation whichever provides longer coverage.

DESCRIPTION Some vehicles may experience the warning message "A 'Hybrid System Malfunction. Have the Vehicle Inspected' and DTC P2BC5:00 (OBC contactor (+) stuck ON) and/or other DTCs listed below may be stored. If this condition is present, follow the Repair Procedure below to replace the Junction Box No.2. P2BC5:00: OBC Contactor (+) system: Stuck On P2BC6:00: OBC Contactor (+) system: Stuck Off P2BCC:00: OBC Contactor (-) system: Stuck On This is caused by an issue with the contact welding of the OBC contactor contacts. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Verify the customer concern. 2. Replace Junction Box 2 (+) according to the following procedure.

DESCRIPTION Some vehicles have reported faster than expected tire wear for vehicles equipped with OEM "Falken 275/45/21" tires, without outside influence such as low tire pressure or out of specification alignment, and the tire life may not meet customer expectations. To eliminate this concern, the tire contact patch pressure has been optimized. REPAIR PROCEDURE Verify the customer concern (inspect the tires, verify tread depth, and replace all the tires as required on the vehicle according to the following "Inspection Requirements" and the instructions in MGSS (WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). Mazda Warranty is providing case by case goodwill processing information regarding tire wear complaints on CX-90, and CX-70 vehicles equipped with OEM 21” 275/45/21 Falken tires. This goodwill assistance process does not include any other tire brand or size.

SA-061/25 12/17/25 DESCRIPTION If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. Examples: 1. Devices connected to the DLC-2 (battery discharge/DTC stored) 2. Devices plugged into the 12V outlet 3. GPS tracking device (engine no start/battery discharge) 4. Dash cam (DTC stored) 5. Non-certified USB cable (Apple Carplay™/ Android Auto™ will not connect) 6. Over-sized wheels/tires (incorrect GPS location) 7. DTC C0023:14 8. Decorative trim and/or cover on the START/STOP ENGINE button Example 1: Some electrical devices connected to the DLC-2 connector by insurance or mobile phone companies may cause: Battery discharge. The device may disrupt the CAN system battery saver mode. • IDS/MMDS will not communicate with the vehicle due to poor DLC-2 connection. The aftermarket device may cause DLC-2 female terminals to spread open.
