FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: RADAR

The defect: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2025 AMG G63 and G 580 vehicles. The front short-range radar sensor printed circuit board may fail and result in a loss of automatic emergency braking and other driver assistance features, including the active brake assist, lane keeping assist, and Distronic cruise control.
The risk: An automatic emergency braking system that does not function as intended can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will replace the short-range sensor, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 26, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2025110002. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 24, 2025.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC):CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

The defect: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2025 G 550, G 580, and AMG G 63 vehicles. The vehicle's electronic stability program (ESP) may display an incorrect warning light during an ESP system failure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems," and 101, "Control and Displays."
The risk: An incorrectly displayed warning light can fail to alert the driver to critical safety information, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will update the ESP control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 17, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2025050002.

After I parked my car, I was walking in between another parked car and my vehicle and the tailpipe burnt the back of my left calf. I got out of the driver side. I was driving the car. This is also happened about six months ago to my daughter, who was exiting the car from the backseat and burnt her leg on the tailpipe because the tailpipe of this vehicle is located right under the passenger’s door and sticks out. I uploaded photos of the second-degree burn that I have. It’s blistering now.

While driving on a California freeway at highway speed, the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated and the seatbelts tightened as though a collision avoidance or emergency safety system had activated. There was no apparent vehicle, obstacle, or roadway hazard present that would explain the event. The incident occurred while family members, including a child passenger, were in the vehicle. The unexpected deceleration and seatbelt tightening created a significant safety concern because it occurred at freeway speeds without warning. Shortly after the incident, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership for inspection. The dealership documented our complaint that the vehicle slowed on its own and that the seatbelts tightened when no other vehicle was around. The dealership later stated that it was unable to duplicate the concern and reported no fault found. Prior to this event, the vehicle had experienced multiple electronic-related issues, including failure to recognize the key while it was inside the vehicle, repeated "missing key" warnings while driving, and other warning messages requiring dealership diagnosis and software updates. After the freeway incident, the Forward Collision Warning returned, increasing concerns that the vehicle's collision avoidance or driver assistance systems may not be operating correctly. Because of the unexpected freeway deceleration, seatbelt tightening, warning messages, and prior electronic issues, we no longer have confidence in the vehicle's safety and reliability. The cause of the incident remains unknown.

Mercedes G63 with approx. 3500 miles will suddenly enter into collision avoidance mode. Specifically, the seatbelts will tighten up and the brakes will fully engage to stop the vehicle. In all cases, there was no risk of collision and the system engages with false positive alerts. The console display will indicate the area where the vehicle believed a collision may occur and there is nothing in that vicinity. The risk of injury and bodily harm is significant with this system as the vehicle is uncontrollable and can be rear-ended among other situations. The dealership inspected and confirms fault codes and they updated the vehicle's software but the issue persists. Merecedes should immediately recall all vehicles.

POWER TRAIN

Single throttle lift-off clunking noise from the side shaft when moving off (audible at the outboard end). The noise is heard once in each instance when changing direction of travel. Note: Sound file in attachment Cause If the complaint is eliminated by experimentally loosening the outboard collar nut (by 1 turn), the problem is due to cracking of the microweld between the wheel bearing inner race and the joint housing of the side shaft. Note: The collar nut must always be replaced after being loosened. See also LI33.20-P-078406 Remedy Coat contact surface of side shaft with wheel bearing with Molykote paint. To do this, proceed as follows: 1. Remove side shafts 2. Clean contact surface A (see image file in attachment "Outer joint housing before") before coating with Molykote, using "spirit" (free of dust and grease) 3. Coat contact surface A (see image file in attachment "Outer joint housing after") with Molykote and leave to dry for "one hour" in removed condition 4. Reinstall side shafts Note: Before using the antifriction coating (Molykote), stir it or shake it thoroughly for (at least 1 minute).

SERVICE BRAKES

Complaint Repeat workshop visit for vehicle vibration while braking from 60MPH. Vehicle production date prior to December 2025. Cause Although the cause of the vibration is most likely due to excessive lateral runout on the rotor or hub/wheel bearing, the system as a whole needs to be checked for other possible contributors. 1. Prior collision damage. 2. Excessive vehicle sitting times without rotating components. 3. Wheel bearing/hub lateral runout. 4. Wheel mating interface has been overtightened (did not follow WIS torque procedures). 5. Mating interfaces have been excessively modified (painted, gouged, bent, etc...). Remedy Read through the entire attached worksheet prior to performing. After performing, please review the final page and perform work accordingly. If there are any questions on how to proceed OR The work sheet has been performed and the vehicle has returned with the same concern. Please perform the measurements as seen in the worksheet again and open a TIPS case to the Body, Chassis, and Entertainment team.

Complaint Headlamp, front fog lamp leaky or fogged. Cause Fogging of the headlamps is a natural phenomenon, which can occur under certain climatic conditions. It does not lead to any technical impairment of the headlamp. If a pressure compensation diaphragm is fitted in the housing cover, then the lamp unit is a "closed system". Remedy Headlamp: Remedy 1 Clearing fogged/condensed LED headlamps: 1. Drive vehicle into workshop (temperature higher than +18 °C/+64.4 °F) and connect the exhaust extraction. Note: Do not perform an engine wash before the defogging test. 2. Switch off the engine and connect battery support via a charger. 3. Open the hood. 4. Switch on the lights. 5. Leave the vehicle in this state for 60 minutes. 6. Check for formation of condensation, a significant reduction in the formation of condensation must be clearly recognizable (thawing progress). Clearing of fogged/condensed LED headlamps and LED rear lamps on electric vehicles: 1. Drive the vehicle into the workshop (temperature higher than +18 °C/+64.4°F). 2. Connect battery backup via a charger. 3. Open the front-end flap and ensure sufficient ventilation. 4. Switch on the lights. 5. Leave the vehicle in this state for 60 minutes. 6. Check for formation of condensation, a significant reduction in the formation of condensation must be clearly recognizable (thawing progress). Clearing fogged/condensed halogen/xenon headlamps: 1. Drive the vehicle into the workshop (temperature higher than +18 °C/+64.4°F). Note: Do not perform an engine wash before the defogging test. 2. Switch off the engine. 3. Open the hood. 4. Switch off the lights. 5. Leave the vehicle in this state for 60 minutes. 6. Check for formation of condensation, a significant reduction in the formation of condensation must be clearly recognizable (thawing progress). Note: If there is no visible reduction in condensation, check the headlamp for malfunctions. (see Remedy 2) It is not physically possible to defog the headlamps completely. Fogging does not impair the operation or the service life of the headlamp. Note: Only implement Remedy 1 for model series 463 (from model year 2018) and model series 465. Remedy 2 A defective headlamp can be identified as follows: 1. Check the headlamp for external damage and that the cover caps and the diaphragm are correctly seated. 2. Check the electrical connectors of the plugs and pins. 3. Check for leak tightness according to LI82.10-P-078307. The test can only be conducted on headlamps. 4. If the headlamp or the rear lamp has any external damage, replace the component part in accordance with the WIS instructions. Note: External damage to the headlamp/rear lamp or faulty seating of the cover caps does not present a warranty or goodwill case. STRUCTURE:BODY

Complaint After removing the transport protection from new vehicles, localized cloudy spots or streaks may appear on the paint surface. These marks are most commonly seen on the hood, fenders, and bumpers and are more noticeable on dark paint colors. Cause Moisture can become trapped under the full transport packaging. This moisture may penetrate the fresh paint, causing the paint layer to swell and result in visible white spots or streaks. Remedy Carefully heat the affected areas using a heat gun or Infrared Paint Curing Lamp. • Ensure that seals and other heat‑sensitive components, including those behind the heated area, are not exposed to excessive heat or damaged during the process. • Set the heat gun to 500–600 °C (932–1,112 °F). • Hold the heat gun approximately 5–10 cm (2–4 inches) from the surface. For plastic components (e.g., bumpers): DO NOT exceed 120 °C (248 °F). The heating process may need to be repeated several times to achieve the desired result. IF heating does not improve the appearance OR the paint structure is permanently damaged and cannot be repaired, the affected component must be repainted.
