1994 Mercury Grand Marquis Airbags Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the airbag system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Airbags reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 11 reports on file name it.

THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG IS DEFECTIVE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED, BUT IT IS BROKEN AND THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE $800 TO FIX IT. IF IT HAS NEVER BEEN USED, IT SHOULD NOT BE BROKEN. THE SERVICE EMPLYEE OF THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS CAR. HOW MANY INCIDENTS LIKE THIS HAVE TO OCCUR BEFORE A RECALL IS CONSIDERED. THE FIRST PAGE OF YOUR WEB SITE STATE THAT: "IF A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT EXISTS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE OR ITEM OF MOTOR VEHICLE EQUIPMENT, THE MANUFACTURER MUST FIX IT AT NO COST TO THE OWNER." IS THIS NOT A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT? PLEASE ADVISE.
