The defect: MONACO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH NORCOLD REFRIGERATORS. A FATIGUE FAILURE IN THE SECTION OF THE COOLING UNIT WHICH CONTAINS THE REFRIGERANT COULD ALLOW THE LIQUID SOLUTION TO SLOWLY LEAK.
The risk: EXTENDED OPERATION OF A LEAKING COOLING UNIT COULD LEAD TO A FIRE FROM GAS WHICH MIGHT ESCAPE.
The remedy: MONACO IS WORKING WITH NORCOLD TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS. NORCOLD WILL PROVIDE THERMAL SWITCH KITS TO OWNERS ALONG WITH THE NECESSARY FORMS AND INSTRUCTIONS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 29, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NORCOLD AT 1-800-767-9101 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:CONTROLS, PEDALS AND LINKAGES

The defect: ON CLASS A MOTOR HOMES BUILT WITH A STEERABLE AUXILIARY AXLE AND EQUIPPED WITH CERTAIN MERITOR-WABCO BRAKE SYSTEM TWO AND FOUR PORT RELAY VALVES, THE VALVE MAY STICK OPEN WHEN A HIGH-PRESSURE BRAKE APPLICATION IS RELEASED.
The risk: WHEN THE VALVE STICKS OPEN, IT CAN RESULT IN A TOTAL LOSS OF AIR FROM EITHER THE SERVICE OR THE PARK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DRIVER MAY LOSE BRAKING ABILITY UNDER A SERVICE APPLICATION, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE VALVES. MERITOR WABCO IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT MERITOR WABCO AT 800-535-5560 OR MONACO AT 1-877-466-6226.

The defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS A MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH SAFETY BELT ASSEMBLIES BUILT BY AM-SAFE. ON SOME SEAT BELTS, THE BUCKLE AND CONNECTOR MAY UNLATCH DURING A COLLISION.
The risk: SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT IS NOT PROPERLY RESTRAINED.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LAP BELTS AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE IT WITH A NEW BELT ASSEMBLY. AM-SAFE IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE DRIVER OF THE COACH WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH THE RIGHT REAR OUTER TIRE BLEW OUT, IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE COACH. THE COACH WENT UP ON AN EMBANKMENT. THE PASSENGER IN THE COACH WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT. THE DOOR WAS RIPPED FROM THE HINGES THROWING THE PASSENGER ONTO THE EMBANKMENT. THE PASSENGER WAS RAN OVER BY THE COACH AND BY THE VEHICLE THE COACH WAS TOWING. THE PASSENGER WAS KILLED IN THE ACCIDENT. THE COACH WAS INSPECTED BY A FORENSIC EXPERT AND DETERMINED THE WELDING ON THE DOOR FRAME WAS SHAVED OFF SO THE DOOR WOULD FIT INTO THE FRAME CAUSING THE DOOR TO BE WEAKENED. UPDATED *JB *CN

THIS IS A 2001, MONACO, DIPLOMAT RV. *AK UPDATED 12/27/2005 - THE CONSUMER EXPLAINED THAT THE GLASS WAS CLOUDY, WITH MOISTURE BETWEEN THE PANES, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDOW, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. *NM
