WHILE DRIVING ON I-5 DOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE FRONT PRIVACY SHADE UNRAVELLED AND COMPLETELY BLOCKED THE DRIVERS FORWARD VISIBILITY. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE ROLLED UP THE SHADE AND DUCT TAPED IT TO THE FRONT TV. ONCE I HAD MY WINTER DESTINATION I CONTACTED NEWMAR AND I WAS TOLD THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM. LATER THAT SAME DAY THE SAME NEWMAR REP CALLED BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR 2008 ESSEX MODELS NOT MY 2007 ESSEX. AT THAT TIME THE REP TOLD ME HOW TO REMOVE THE PRIVACY SHADE AND THAT WHEN I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE MOTORHOME TO A NEWMAR DEALER. NEWMAR WOULD PARTICIPATE IN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY NEWMAR IS NOW DISAVOWING ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN THE REPAIR. MYSELF AND MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED DURING THE EVENT. TO BE TOLD BY NEWMAR RECALLED THE VERY NEXT YEAR MODEL FOR THE SAME SPECIFIC PROBLEM SEEMS ONLY COINCIDENTAL.

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
EQUIPMENT
If the coach's HWH leveling system has intermittent issues when operating, check for corrosion or loose mounting bolts. Torque the mounting bolts (if needed) to 30 ft. pounds. A ground cable may also be installed to improve the overall grounding of the HWH pump assembly.
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes built on Spartan chassis. This recall is the result of information provided to Newmar by Spartan Motors. NHTSA # 15v 752 TC # 2015-534 On certain vehicles, the engine cooling fan may separate from the drive without warning. If the engine area is open and the cooling fan is operating and detaches, it could potentially cause personal injury.
WHEELS
Spartan Motors USA, Inc. (Spartan) has decided a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain incomplete motor home chassis. Newmar Corp. has built on these chassis. The list of specific Newmar affected units is attached. Newmar NHTSA# 15v 654, TC# 2015-467 Tag axle wheel bearings may overheat. Overheating of the tag axle may be detected by distortion or melting of the Stemco cover or ABS lamp illumination. If the wheel bearings overheat, there may be an increased risk of a wheel end fire.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This PIB has been created to inform Newmar dealers that power lock actuators for baggage doors (part # 66214 and part # 123822) are now obsolete. The new part (# 024193) is a replacement for both of the obsolete parts and will mount the same way. The wire connections have changed from a plug to two barrel connectors. The barrel connectors may be used or cut off to install with spade terminals, which allows wires to be reversed easily.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
