My 2018 Nissan Rogue CVT transmission has failed to accelerate on two separate occasions while driving. The vehicle would not respond when I pressed the gas pedal. The car was still running but would not accelerate. The issue resolved on its own both times. I currently have approximately 69,000 miles on the vehicle. I am concerned the transmission will fail completely.

While driving, my vehicles automatic braking system sometimes beeps and begin to brake when there are no objects or other vehicles in front of me. This is could potentially put me at risk because it causes my car to suddenly brake and stall while driving. I do not know if the problem has been confirmed by a dealer and I have not taken it to the dealer to be inspected. It originally started as a beeping when nothing was there but now the car is actually braking when nothing is there

The vehicle experienced multiple incidents of unintended/sudden braking without an obvious hazard present. Approximately six weeks ago, while traveling eastbound through downtown [XXX] , with children in the vehicle and traffic behind me, the vehicle abruptly engaged braking on its own, causing a sudden slowdown and creating a potential rear-end collision hazard. A second similar incident occurred a few weeks later while slowly pulling into a Target Drive-Up parking space, where the vehicle again unexpectedly braked without driver command. The issue appears possibly related to the automatic emergency braking/forward collision avoidance system, although the exact cause is currently UNKNOWN. No collision occurred, but the unexpected braking created a significant safety concern for vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic. The vehicle has also experienced ongoing electrical-related issues, including repeated “No Key Detected” warnings despite prior dealership reprogramming/rekeying attempts involving both the keys and vehicle system. The Bluetooth/radio system has also repeatedly malfunctioned despite dealership updates and/or repairs. To date, the issues appear intermittent and progressively worsening. The vehicle has been serviced previously by dealership personnel for some of the electrical/key-related concerns. The exact root cause has not yet been identified or confirmed. There is a dash light coming on and warning saying “front radar obstruction” causing car to randomly brake, and cruise control not to work. Thought it was originally from a deer I hit March 30, 2025. Replaced sensors, cameras, emblem, checked wiring, recalibrated, multiple diagnostic test all done by more than one person. No one can figure it out even after replacing and testing it’s still happening. Insurance deemed it a coincidence that this started happening after I hit the deer and said problem is not from hitting the deer.

I took my Rogue into a mechanic shop for a juddering/grinding noise when turning at low speeds. Upon further investigation, the mechanic found a recall (NTB20-069) for the AWD. This recall is the exact issue I am currently having with my car and they are stating there is no open recall on my VIN. I am writing in to note that the issue applies to more cars than just the ones on the bulletin. They also repaired a recall for the automatic braking system 6 years ago. The system was replaced but only lasted 5 years because that is when they assumed the 100,000 mile warranty would be over and owners would need to pay to replace it.

AEB system engaged momentarily with no external stimulus to cause it to do so. This has happened twice in about the last three weeks or so. The momentary (probably less than a second) response of the system was noticeable but did not cause an accident or other issue. The system dash light also illuminated and then turned off.

Lights on the dashboard flashed and it made horrible breaking sound The force flung me forward but seat belt locked up holding me in place. There was absolutely nothing or no one fffcccffin front me. Luckily no one was behind me eor they would’ve hit me. Can’t figure out a way to turn off this safety collision feature because it’s a put hazard!

Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. Issues accelerating from a complete stop. Happens sporadically, unable to replicate for mechanic, and no codes or warning lights. Has become a safety issue when needing to cross left at any intersection. Doesn’t not accelerate fast enough to safely cross even after flooring the pedal for multiple seconds and no warning when this issue will occur so car gets stuck trying to accelerate in the intersection with oncoming traffic, near collisions on passenger side from oncoming traffic on a route taken multiple times a day as there are NO warnings prior to failure. Get stuck accelerating into intersection and can’t stop because cars behind me accelerate at a normal speed. Vehicle has been to repair shop.

The backup camera picture/screen has randomly cut out while backing up putting myself and whatever is behind me at risk for collision. In the section where it asks for the date, it's happens randomly since I bought it. Whenever I've taken it to my mechanic they have not been able to reproduce it. The emergency braking system has activated with nothing around. It's in the dealers now. It was listed as a recall on a RI safety but not associated with my vin so the nissan dealer is saying that it's not covered under recall because it shows only the brake recall. the software update is costing me 169. He says that it should fix both problems.

Since I purchased my car in September of 2022, a 2018 Nissan Rogue SL AWD, whenever I drive down to Houston, TX, my AEB symbol (2 cars crashing symbol) flashes. This is consistent with me going to Houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout North TX, and to Louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the AEB sensor light. It flashes, and sometimes will go off for a day or two if I'm down there, but comes back on no matter what.

This is about the 4th incident where when I am driving my car and all of a sudden a message flashes on the dashboard and the car brakes hard, while my foot is still on the gas. There are no other vehicles in front of me or icy roads. I am in the process of bringing to the dealer I purchased it from to run a diagnostics, but from what I have read this issue has been happening a lot with the 2018 models. I do not want to wait until I have an accident for this issue to be acknowledged or repaired.

Since my purchase of my Rogue 2.5 years ago, it has randomly given a warning and braked out of nowhere. With no cars around, in front or behind, it was alarming. Since purchasing the car, this issue has occured, at least 15-20 random times, with the scariest being on the interstate. When the brakes slammed (out of my control) on the interstate, I was terrified a car behind me would rear end me. Luckily the car behind me was too far back but I could tell they were aggravated that I braked out of nowhere on the interstate. Dangerous! I plan on getting rid of this car after only 2 years!
