The ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) Module has failed. ABS, cruise control, and traction control are disabled. A faulty ABS can cause an inability to stop suddenly to avoid a collision. My specific issue has been confirmed by a Ram dealer. Chrysler engineering has confirmed this is a widespread problem with multiple vehicles using the same ABS Module. It is not possible to get a replacement ABS Module. Auto parts stores and dealers do not have replacement parts. There is a waiting list for a redesigned ABS Module at my local Ram dealership. The first person on the list has been on the list for 3 years. A new module, installed and programmed, will cost over $1200. A faulty ABS is a safety issue. I recommend Ram/Chrysler issue a recall when parts are available.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Failed ABS Module....yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Without a functioning ABS Module, the vehicle has no Anti-Lock brakes or Traction control...in addition to no functioning cruise control and some 4WD features. The main concern is obviously the absence of ABS and Traction Control, which can cause loss of vehicle control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, the vehicle has been inspected/confirmed by the dealer. The replacement part is unavailable / has been on backorder for several months. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No...only the dealer has inspected it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - The ABS and Traction Control warning lamps are illuminated. They first appeared several months ago, when the module failed.

Failed abs module prevents use of abs braking system causing wheels to lock up under hard braking. Collision almost occurred as result of wheels locking due to failed abs module and Stellantid does not have a replacement part available. Also prevent proper use of cruise control, stability/traction control and braking. Have been advised by dealerships in DeLand fl and Daytona beach fl that the part is on indefinite back order.

Intermittent abs brake light on return trip in June 2025 diagnosed as a bad abs module. Dealer did not have any stated on back order, now almost a year later as of 5/20/26 Jim Browne Chrysler still states module on back order. And as you know there are no aftermarket parts for replacement. With this issue it keeps other functions of the truck from working. This has been way too long for the government to allow this company to treat us this way.

The ABS Module in my truck went out also causing no speedometer readings. The dealership at Dodge confirmed it needs to be replaced as well as a failing fuel pump. They have had my truck since April 7th 2026. Today as of writing is May 22nd. They keep moving my estimated date for part arrival constantly. Two months and I am still out of my vehicle. Being handicapped and my wheelchair lift is attached to the truck that I need to be able to use to goto my doctor's visits and appointments. They keep stonewalling me and now they said they ordered it from another source but getting the same information but want me to pay the difference from the warranty willingness to pay. Just a total nightmare here.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS system module failure warning light illuminated. The brakes, traction control, and power steering failed, and the speedometer ceased to display on the instrument panel. The electronic throttle control warning light also illuminated, causing the vehicle to fail to shift out of park. After turning off the vehicle for several hours, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and shift out of park. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I tried to repair/replace the unit it is on indefinite backorder, and repair shops cannot get the parts to fix the actual unit. Makes vehicle dangerous to drive in all but fair conditions. My Ram truck ( with extended manufacturer's warranty) has a faulty ABS module which has resulted in not having the ABS safety feature. In addition, this failed module renders speed control inoperative, thus increasing fatigue on long trips. The diagnosis was from July 29, 2025 by a Sulphur Springs dealer [very nice folks]. I have reached out to them several times and was told the part is still on backorder, with no ETA provided. I am hearing that this is a widespread problem, and it seems that we need to bring NHTSA to bear on the manufacturer… ?

2016 Dodge Ram 1500 truck apparently this is a known issue and the module to fix the antilock brake is impossible to get. I have been researching this and I have thus far not only my year make and model truck but other Dodge trucks with the same failure and not able to get the module. The Dodge Dearler in Hayesville NC ordered this part and I call frequently to inquire as to its arrival. this is a safely issue that need to be addressed

My ABS brake module has failed with warning lights just appearing this month (9/19/25) and I took it to the local RAM Dealer for confirmation of the problem on (09/30/25) and the Ram/Stellantis dealer told me the part is not available anymore, the internet research confirms Stellantis stopped producing the necessary module for my year truck. My truck is paid off and the dealer (Naples Dodge) told me my options was to trade it in to them for a new vehicle offering me only 8000 dollars for my truck. Then they charged me a diagnostic fee for a repair issue they cannot even fix, this seems like a manufactured problem to force customers of older trucks to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle. I only have basic brake systems now, no ABS obviously a safety risk.

I was involved in a crash that resulted in a fatality on [XXX]. My truck was towed to Five Star Collision Center in Hurst, TX. The repairs were made to the body of my truck. I picked up the truck and ABS warning lights came on. I called Fove Star Collision Center and spoke to my point of contact- Nathan Hultquist. Nathan advised that I should drive the truck back immediately. I took the truck my to Nathan. He advised that I should drive the truck to the closest Dodge dealership. I did so. My ABS Module is out on my 2016 Ram.The warning lamps came on- service brake system, service trailer brake, ABS light stayed illuminated. This appeared 150 days ago. It has been at Grapevine Dodge for over 150 days. It is in limp mode and has been declared unsafe to drive. I have been in communication with Stellantis/MOPAR for the 150 days. There is no resolution. They claim there is no material to manufacture the part? It appears to be made of plastic? I feel that this is a safety concern due to the fact that if the brakes are applied in an emergency situation, the ABS fails and the brakes lock up. The truck can go into limp mode which is at 35 MPH. On a state highway, moving at that speed- that is NOT safe. There are plenty of these trucks out on the road that could have this same problem and cause serious accidents including a death. I ask for your assistance in this matter. This vehicle has a faulty ABS module that Ram doesn't make the part for. The part 68292756AA been shown on backorder for over 1yr. After chatting with a Ram customer service agent I found out this part has been discontinued and was advised that I try an aftermarket part. Guess what ? The aftermarket part is not compatible with the program download. 😡This is unacceptable. There seems there is forums after forums with people in the same predicament. This issue really needs to be investigated .

We were driving down the interstate and my truck went into limp mode. This almost caused an accident. We were able to get off the road and into a parking lot but the whole truck locked up. The dash started saying "Service Throttle Positioning System" and the gear shift locked into park. The truck got stuck in first gear and I was able to get out of the way before we were rear ended. We had the truck towed to a truck shop and the codes had gone away. They drove it and while they were testing it it did the same thing to them. Based on research this part was on recall on the Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0L Eco Diesel for causing this same issue with the crank shaft tone wheel (reluctor wheel) but to this date there has been none on my truck. We are now out $3400 for the repair with Stellantis knowing they have had issues with this part on the other models with the same engine.
