The defect: ROADTREK IS RECALLING 335 MY 2006-2008 SS AGILE AND RS ADVENTUROUS CLASS "B" MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON DODGE AND FREIGHTLINER SPRINTER 2500 VAN CHASSIS. THESE MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE REAR HITCH MOUNTED SPARE TIRE CARRIER (CONTINENTAL SPARE TIRE KIT), IMPEDES THE FULL VISIBILITY OF THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT. THE DRIVERS OF FOLLOWING VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE FULL VISIBILITY OF THE LEFT TAIL LIGHTS.
The risk: THIS LACK OF VISIBILITY COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SUPPLEMENTARY TAIL LIGHT ON THE FIBERGLASS COVER OF THE SPARE TIRE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 22, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ROADTREK AT 1-888-762-3873.

THE PILLAR STICKER PLACED BY ROADTREK INCORRECTLY DESCRIBED THE TIRES AS LT225/75R16 AND RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURES OF 65/80, WHEN IN FACT THE FACTORY TIRES SUPPLIED WERE LT245/7516 WITH LOWER RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURES (50/65) FOR THE LOADED VEHICLE. ROADTREK PLACED THEIR STICKER (AT TIME OF RV CONVERSION) OVER WHAT I ASSUME TO BE THE PARTIALLY PEALED OFF (SPRINTER/MERCEDES) FACTORY PILLAR STICKER, WHICH WAS READABLE THROUGH THE ROADTREK STICKER AND INDICATED A TIRE SIZE OF LT245/75R16. THIS WAS ONLY DISCOVERED BY ME LAST MONTH JUNE 2012, WHEN I HAD TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL FACTORY TIRES AT 35,000 MILES DUE TO EXTREME WEAR (3/32 ALL FOUR). I BELIEVE THE INCORRECT PILLAR STICKER PRESSURE RECOMMENDATION IS A DIRECT CAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE WEAR AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO RUNNING THE TIRES AT HIGHER THAN APPROPRIATE PRESSURES. *TR
