Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

NHTSA has previously issued a recall on the failed LP hose on Rise/Scope vehicles 21V-755. For some reason, my vehicle/VIN was not included in the recall. Nevertheless, I experienced the identical failure described in the recall, but I take exception to the recall pointing to the tight bend in the hose being the issue. My hose is literally disintegrating for the full length of the hose. It appears that the rubber is defective. My vehicle had about 7500 miles on it and hadn't been driven in bad weather when I experienced the leak. Photos are attached. I think NHTSA should revisit this recall and ensure that it is expanded to include all vehicles that might have this part, plus not blame the issue on the hose bend. I kept the hose and can send it for evaluation if needed. For the record, my hose leaked catastrophically when I switched on the gas, and if an ignition source was nearby, a fire certainly could have resulted from this failure.

This unit is a 2024 Thor Rize class B RV on a 2023 Ram Promaster chassis. The FCW frequently and regularly turns off and will not reset. The FCW light illuminates and appears to affect other random electrical systems that also illuminate. I can manually reset it in the safety settings sometimes but regardless, it shuts off at will. This event is constant in all road, weather and driving conditions. This is a severe safety issue that appears to have been a Ram problem for years now. This is unacceptable and needs immediate and urgent intervention. In the event of an accident, whereas, this system is malfunctioning, I will immediately seek legal actions.

The generator sits 5 inches from the ground below the rear axle. It is not protected with any encasement, bump stops or axle shims. Please see Bulletin TSB-21-06 for using parts kit #0503506. I have contacted the dealer and manufacturer about this and the say that there was no recall on my vin# for this. They have not offered to do anything about my concerns. The dealer inspected before I purchased the vehicle on 10/21/2003. My concern is the generator will hit a bump and tear off and hit the driver behind me.

Manufacturer communications

A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

SEAT BELTS

The seatbelts for the rear, side facing seats may be too long for some passengers.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
