Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

On April 20, 2026 we discovered our 2025 Tiffin Wayfarer was experiencing a thermal runaway of the house battery charging system. The coach was in storage at a public RV storage facility. Our unit is a single enclosed unit with a roll up door. When we opened the bay door, we could tell the entire storage bay and coach were severely filled with toxic H2S gas. After the bay had been allowed to ventilate, I disconnected the shore power to stop the charging process. I called Tiffin Motorhomes Tech Support the next day and spoke with the Wayfarer specialist, Keith Hawkins. He said this was a known issue and they were working on trying to determine the cause.. Keith called me the on April 26, 2026, and told me that he had determined the cause was Tiffin had been incorrectly wiring the house batteries, specifically they had been been attaching the ground wire to the wrong battery.

The contact owns a 2025 Tiffin Wayfarer RV built on a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 Chassis. The contact stated that the sideview mirrors were vibrating while idling and while driving at various speeds, reducing the visibility of the roadway. The contact stated that the failure was more pronounced while driving at higher speeds. The RV was taken to the dealer and to two other unknown dealers, but the contact was informed that the sideview mirrors were operating as designed. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,100.

Manufacturer communications

A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Stopped using the lights we had been using due to expense. Replaced with these, but these new lights have to be wired in instead of just clicking in. These are the instructions to wire in.

MCD-006

Tiffin sent out letter asking customer to please review the enclosed information for the proper operation of the Starlink System in their Tiffin Motorhome. And after reviewing the information, to add it to their Owner's Manual for future reference.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
