2025 Toyota Camry Body & structure Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Body & structure reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I purchased this vehicle on March 14, 2026. On June 2, 2026, I reported to the dealership that the front bumper cover was beginning to separate from the vehicle near the headlights. The bumper appears to be inadequately supported because the plastic mounting brackets beneath the headlights do not provide sufficient structural support for the weight of the bumper cover. The dealership acknowledged the issue and sent my vehicle to its collision repair facility on June 23, 2026. I received the vehicle back on June 25, 2026 after repairs were completed. Unfortunately, the repair was only temporary. By July 20, 2026, the bumper had once again begun separating from the vehicle in the same location. I live in an extremely hot climate where summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F. It appears that the plastic brackets become soft or deform from the heat, causing them to lose their ability to securely retain the bumper cover. This raises concerns that the design and materials used are not appropriate for normal operating conditions in many parts of the United States. Based on my research, this is not an isolated incident. Numerous other 2025 Toyota Camry owners have reported the same problem involving front bumper separation at the headlight mounting points. Despite the widespread nature of this apparent defect, Toyota has not issued a safety recall or provided a permanent repair. I am concerned that continued separation of the front bumper could create a safety hazard if the bumper becomes detached while driving, potentially creating road debris or increasing the risk of a crash. Consumers should not be required to repeatedly repair a component that appears to suffer from a design defect. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this issue and determine whether the front bumper mounting system on the 2025 Toyota Camry constitutes a safety-related defect warranting a recall or other corrective action.

Issue #1: When driving the vehicle, the center display will stop working, audio and other functions remain working, however there is no display, including when the vehicle is in reverse, resulting in a loss of visibility when backing due to the camera not being displayed, this presents a safety issue as a safety feature (the reverse camera) is not working. When the vehicle was taken in to the dealer under warranty, the dealer stated if the unit was replaced that the issue would “just happen again” and the only solution offered was to wait for a software update. A case has been opened with Toyota on this matter and they are unable to provide an ETA on when an update will be available, and are refusing to replace the display under warranty. Issue #2: The front bumper is pulling away from the headlight assembly on the driver side, this issue was addressed with 2 Toyota dealers, hey stated the clips under the headlight have broken causing the bumper to separate, claiming it was due to an “outside element” as the hood has been repainted and doesn’t match the bumper paint due to a scratch on the hood, when this was explained, they then changed their story stating there was a repair to the bumper, which is also incorrect as I have owned the vehicle since it was new, they then changed their explanation again stating there was damage under the front of the vehicle which is also incorrect, the vehicle has never been in an accident and has no damage other than rock chips that have been corrected with touch up paint to prevent rust. This causes a safety issue as the bumper is no longer secure in all areas, which they are also refusing to cover under warranty.

The front bumper under the drivers side headlight is detaching from the car. I brought the car to the dealership, they looked at it, said they pushed the bumper back in but i needed to make an appt. When i came back for the second appt, I was immediately turned away. They stated it was body work and they didn't do that type of work. I was sent to Bob Maloney Collision. There they took the bumper off, found no damage, put the bumper back on, calibrated the car. Before even leaving their parking lot, the bumper had detached again. I brought the car back a second time a little over a week later. They again took the bumper off, put it back on again. The first trip on the interstate and the bumper detached again. The car has not been in any accidents and there's no signs of curb damage or anything like that. This poses a safety risk due to the bumper being lose. At interstate speeds, the bumper clearly detaches. It could detach completely with the perfect gust of wind causing me to lose control and/or hitting other vehicles. A quick google search will show that there are multiple other incidents of this occurring. It is a known issue, though most report the actual fix as replacing the headlight assembly/bumper since the headlight is not in the correct position allowing the bumper to fully hook onto. The car is still under warranty but Toyota is giving me the run around. I opened a corporate case for reimbursement after no damage was found. When i went back to the dealership with this information and to attempt to get them to repair under warranty again, they were still trying to deflect and acting like they didn't want to fix it. I have an appt for tomorrow when the manager is there again. This will be the 5th time I've had it at either the dealership or the body shop for repairs in barely over a month and it still isn't fixed.

I wanted to share my recent experience with Toyota regarding my brand-new Camry. The front bumper on my new vehicle is coming loose. After speaking with my dealership and Toyota corporate, I was informed that this is a known issue affecting some Camrys. I was also told similar concerns have been seen on other Toyota 4Runners (this came from a Toyota service advisor, "The 4Runners are even worse!"). What surprised me most was Toyota's position. Although the issue is known, Toyota currently has no authorized repair available for dealerships to perform under warranty. The recommendation was essentially to wait until Toyota develops an official remedy or issues a recall and they were closing my case for now; this is when the Toyota representative was getting defensive. As a customer, that's difficult to accept. I purchased a new vehicle expecting defects like a loose bumper to be corrected under warranty, not postponed indefinitely. I'm sharing this experience because other owners may be experiencing the same issue.

On 1/14/26 a parking cone blew into my lane on the freeway and hit my passenger side bumper. I filed an insurance claim for the damage and took it to a Progressive preferred shop, Color Magic CARSTAR Collision. Carstar replaced the grille, bumper cover and all affected components such as the retainers, moulding, impact absorber, etc. with OEM parts. After 60 days of allowing the new bumper's black paint to cure, I went to get the bumper rewrapped with the mint green wrap that was put on the car by the dealership before I purchased it. At that time, the wrap company noticed that there was a gap in the bumper under the passenger side headlight and that the bumper could be popped back into place, but easily popped back out. It was not noticeable to me while the bumper was black, but once they put the mint green wrap on, it was extremely noticeable. I have went back to Carstar multiple times for them to make adjustments to fix the problem. My insurance adjustor has inspected it multiple times and referred me to Germain Certified Toyota Collision Center to assist after he found online forums and was told by Direct Collison center (also Toyota Certified) staff that it was a known issue with the OEM bumpers and that there was no fix for it. All have confirmed and been able to reproduce the issue. The adjustor says it is a manufacturing warranty issue ane neither Certified Toyota Collision Centers we talked to were willing to help or take responsibility for it. Germain said it is how the car is meant to handle impact and that scrapes on driveways or minor bumps/potholes can cause it to pop out of place. It is a safety issue because it could continue to get worse and pop out or fall off while I am driving. It also affects the front sensor which affects a multitude of safety features as well as lane assist, which I cannot turn off. I am worried that the sensor will fail and cause me to get in an accident if it jerks my wheel wrong.

1.The driver-side bumper/bumper cover and/or bumper attachment clips, brackets, or mounting points failed or malfunctioned. The bumper was protruding on the driver’s side and was not staying properly secured to the vehicle. Repairs have already been completed by an independent auto body shop. I have repair documentation, photos, and/or invoices available to support the complaint. 2.My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the bumper was protruding and not properly secured on the driver’s side. I was concerned that the bumper could become further detached while driving, especially at highway speeds, creating a road hazard for other drivers or pedestrians. The protruding bumper could also affect the vehicle’s exterior safety structure, cause distraction while driving, or worsen if the vehicle hit a bump, pothole, or experienced normal road vibration. 3.Yes. The problem was confirmed by an independent auto body shop. They inspected the bumper issue and repaired it. I was also advised by the shop that they have seen similar issues with Toyota bumpers and that this appears to be a common problem. The repair cost was approximately $1,000 out of pocket. 4. The vehicle/component was inspected by an independent auto body shop. To my knowledge, it has not yet been inspected by Toyota, police, or insurance representatives. I am filing this complaint so the issue can be documented and reviewed as a possible safety or manufacturing-related concern. 5.There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages related to this issue. The main symptom was visible: the bumper began protruding on the driver’s side and was not staying properly attached. I first noticed the issue on or around June 10, 2025. The condition appeared to worsen or remain unresolved until I had it repaired by an independent auto body shop. I am filing this complaint regarding a bumper issue on my Toyota vehicle. The driver-side bumper/bumper cover began protruding and was not staying properly

2025 Camry front bumper popping out underneath driver side headlamp. It is a known issue by Toyota though they won't acknowledge it. It is widely considered a warranty issue, though some owners face resistance from dealers. Temporary fixes include re-aligning clips, while permanent solutions often require bracket replacements or professional body shop intervention. 2 dealerships have looked at it. One referred me to a body shop and the other said it would involve me replacing the headlamp. Clip is still intact, but it won't grab onto the tab under headlamp.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the paint on the vehicle was damaged during production. When the vehicle was transported, the contact noticed that the paint had spots. The dealer was unable to repair the vehicle since the damage occurred during production. The dealer replaced the vehicle with another 2025 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that when the vehicle had the windows tinted, the employee noticed that the front bumper was loose and was pushed back into place. However, the failure persisted. The bumper was pushed back into place several times, but the failure recurred, and the contact was informed that the mounting tabs in the bumper were weak. The driver’s side brackets and the bumper were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the front bumper was not aligned and was still loose. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that no other fix was available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that a case manager would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The case manager found a tear in the rubber and filed a Lemon Law case on behalf of the contact. The contact was informed that the Lemon Law case was denied and closed. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the front bumper looked misaligned. The failure mileage was approximately 6.

I am reporting a recurring safety defect involving the front bumper assembly on my brand-new Toyota Camry Hybrid. The front bumper repeatedly detaches, separates, and pulls away from the vehicle during normal driving conditions. This has occurred multiple times despite repeated repair attempts by the authorized Toyota dealership. Toyota and the dealership have acknowledged that this is a known issue affecting other vehicles and have admitted that there is currently no permanent repair remedy available. Despite this, the defect has been misclassified as “cosmetic,” which is inaccurate and unsafe. The bumper is a critical safety component designed to absorb and distribute crash forces. A bumper that is already detached or partially unsecured compromises crash force pathways and reduces occupant protection in the event of a collision. If an accident occurs, the bumper cannot perform its intended safety function, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, I can hear air intrusion entering the vehicle through the front area where the bumper is separating, confirming that the vehicle’s exterior seal and structural integrity are compromised while driving. This vehicle has never been in an accident and is operated under normal conditions. A front bumper should not detach on a new vehicle. This is not a cosmetic concern it is a safety defect that places occupants at risk. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue as a potential pattern defect and require Toyota to address it as a safety matter rather than mislabeling it to avoid corrective action.

While driving the vehicle in high winds, wind and air can be heard entering the cabin near the front of the drivers side door. Multiple heavy gusts of wind caused the car to move into the other lane and had a negative effect on steering the vehicle. Toyota denies there is something wrong with the door seals or design of the vehicle, but this is a safety hazard when driving in high sustained winds of 15MPH or more.

The front bumper of the vehicle is falling off, it seems to be too heavy for the vehicle. I went to the dealership and was informed this is a common reported issue with the 2025 Toyota Camry but as there is no open recall the warranty is unable to provide any assistance. This is a safety hazard and the bumper could fall off during anytime and cause a serious hazard and or accident can occur. I informed the dealership that due to the falling bumper the bottom has scrapped and caused damage and they continued stating there was nothing they could do. lm left with an issue that is dangerous for me and my family.

1. The driver side door has a rattling sound when driving. It sounds like the door is not shutting all the way. Air/noise comes through. The noise is annoying when driving and I am concern that the door will open. This does not make me feel safe. 2. Windshield is fragile. Within a month of purchasing my Camry, my windshield cracked (passenger side). A couple months later I see another crack on the drivers side. I am afraid that it will shatter soon enough and cause me not to be able to drive safely on the road. 3. Paint is already chipping on the hood of my 2025 Camry.

Front Bumper Fitment Issue: The front bumper clips fail to secure the bumper properly, causing a noticeable gap between the bumper and the body, particularly around the headlight and fender. Despite visiting my local dealer today (10-11-2025), they have confirmed that this is a known issue, but no permanent solution has been provided. The bumper misalignment negatively impacts the aesthetic quality and structural integrity of the vehicle. This problem has been reported by multiple 2025 Camry owners and persists even after the bumper is replaced. It is evident upon delivery and has not been fixed by Toyota or the dealership to date. Rear Seatbelt Warning Malfunction: I experienced a malfunction with the rear seatbelt warning system. The warning alert activated while the vehicle is in motion, falsely indicating that an unbuckled passenger is in the backseat, even when the rear seats are empty. At my dealership visit in August, I was told that this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle, triggered when rear doors are opened or closed without the seatbelt being clicked in. However, this explanation does not account for the behavior I am experiencing, where the warning is erroneously triggered while the vehicle is moving. This malfunction undermines the reliability of Toyota's safety systems, and I request that Toyota investigate it thoroughly. I would also appreciate guidance on how to disable or adjust the rear seatbelt reminder in the meantime, if that is a viable solution.

Defect description: The front bumper cover clips located directly under the headlights on my 2025 Toyota Camry XSE are loosening and detaching. This creates a visible gap between the bumper and the body panels. The condition appeared during normal use and has persisted. No collision damage or aftermarket modifications are involved. Safety risk: If the clips continue to loosen, the bumper cover could detach further while driving. At highway speeds, this creates a risk of the bumper separating from the vehicle, potentially becoming road debris and causing a hazard to me and other motorists. Manufacturer response: My Toyota dealership has confirmed this is a known issue, but reported that Toyota currently has no available repair procedure or timeline for a fix. Toyota corporate has also documented my vehicle as affected but cannot provide a remedy. Reproducibility: The defect is visible at all times and worsens gradually with normal driving vibration.

I am reporting a recurring issue with the front bumper misalignment on my 2025 Toyota Camry, which may indicate a widespread manufacturing defect. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle from Toyota Direct March 2025, I noticed that the front bumper was visibly misaligned, with uneven gaps near the headlights and fender panels. On June 9, 2025, the dealership replaced the front bumper with an OEM part. However, the new bumper still does not fit properly and continues to protrude and separate at the corners creating the potential for the bumper to become loose during operation. This affects both the appearance, aerodynamic integrity of the vehicle and an potential for accident. Multiple attempts at repair have failed to resolve the issue. After researching, I found numerous reports from other 2025 Camry owners experiencing the same bumper misalignment. Some dealership representatives have acknowledged the bumper fitment as a “known issue,” yet no official recall or technical service bulletin has been issued. Given the widespread nature of this defect and Toyota’s lack of a permanent solution, I believe this issue warrants further investigation by the NHTSA to determine whether a manufacturing or design flaw exists that could affect vehicle safety, durability, or value.

The front bumper on my 2025 Toyota Camry continues to shift and separate after driving, despite being repaired twice following a low-impact collision in which another vehicle backed into me. This issue has persisted even after two separate body shops (including a State Farm in-network provider) performed repairs. A third attempt is underway, but the problem remains unresolved. Additionally, my Parking Collision Warning system does not give any audible alerts when reversing or approaching objects, even though this feature is standard on my vehicle. I believe the malfunction may be tied to the bumper’s instability or misalignment, potentially affecting sensor function. The issue has not triggered any warning lights or error messages. However, I’ve now discovered multiple reports from other 2025 Camry owners experiencing the same bumper separation without being in accidents, suggesting a potential design flaw. My car has been inspected by body shops and appraisers, but not by Toyota directly. This ongoing issue presents a potential safety concern due to impaired sensor function and the risk of the bumper detaching at higher speeds. The vehicle and parts are available for inspection upon request.

The front bumper of the vehicle has a known issue where the bumper isn’t staying in properly causing the bumper to pop out of alignment. Toyota fix is to heat up both sides of the plastic edges and tuck the bumper underneath the headlights. It’s a temporary fix that’s needs to be rectified. It seems like Toyota changed the Camry design before it was ready.

Wife was driving back home on I-280 around 60-65 mph back home when suddenly the back sunroof glass section POP and she started hearing small objects dragging. As soon as she was available to pull over to check it, she realize the whole back glass of the sunroof was cracked. She tried calling Toyota Sunnyvale to report it and best they could help her with was to make a claim with the insurance and pay the deductible of $500 because they saying this was from an “external influence”. They gave us a “rental vehicle” while their inspectors engineers called for non-manufactured issue when; - how will you get hit on the sunroof while driving at 60-65 mph on the freeway? - how is it possible that a small size object could shatter a whole TEMPERED GLASS and also, outline crack all around instead of a center hit like they mentioned. - if there was an external object hitting the sunroof why isn’t any internal damage if it’s right above the sunroof motor. If it was something that big to shatter a whole tempered glass section wouldn’t it damage the motor as is right on the center of the shatter too?. Last but not least, we were “handle” a rental car while they were “inspecting” the vehicle until next coming Monday (2 days later as we took it on a Saturday) we were told to take the vehicle and bring it in the next coming Monday but with that level of shatter it would of fall apart more and would of been an issue for the inspection for them to put it on me as a bigger hit WHITCH THEY DID! And made me pay for the rental days and quote me a $4,700.oo repair labor for the damage part as they determinate it wasn’t manufacture. No one could give an explanation of how did they determinate it when I have an other Toyota that DOES! Have an external object crack on the wind shield AND ITS MINIMAL! Not the whole windshield.
