The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 40-45 MPH uphill and depressing the brake pedal to come to a stop at the red traffic light, the brake pedal travelled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle started rolling backwards while in drive(D). The contact shifted to park(P), but the vehicle continued to roll backwards. The contact stated upon engaging the electric parking brake, the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that after the vehicle was turned off and restarted, the vehicle responded as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact filled out a form to allow the vehicle data to be retrieved per the dealer's recommendation. The contact stated that the manufacturer's engineers were assisting the dealer in diagnosing the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,200.

The contact stated that while driving 3-20 MPH, the instrument cluster multi-information display (MID) located near the left side of the steering wheel was scrolling independently, causing the gauge information to be replaced independently on the instrument cluster. Additionally, the contact stated that the left side of the steering wheel was warmer. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and later informed the contact that the dealer had been contacted on the contact's behalf; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 31,970.

The contact depressed the brake pedal again and on the third attempt, the brake pedal functioned as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that there was no cause for the failure found; however, a code for a brake communication failure was retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,400.

Some 2022 – 2025 model year Tundra and Tundra Hybrid, and 2023 – 2025 model year Sequoia Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a high pitch whistling noise coming from one or both outer rear-view mirrors while driving 65 – 85 mph (105 – 137 km/h).
Some 2005 – 2026 Toyota vehicles that have undergone water intrusion may exhibit a condition in which a musty odor is present. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to remediate the odor and address this condition. The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to provide general guidelines and procedures for odor remediation. This Service Bulletin provides a guide on how to prepare and treat the interior of the vehicle for odor remediation. Refer to the applicable model and model year Repair Manual and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website for the most up-to-date safety and precautionary guidelines.
