The defect: VIKING RV IS RECALLING 141 MY 2008 EPIC (MODEL 2108ST) AND SPORT (MODEL 108ST) CAMPING TRAILERS FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, 'TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES." THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ON THE CERTIFICATION AND TIRE INFORMATION LABELS DENOTING THE TIRE SIZE AND PRESSURE IS INCORRECT.
The risk: THIS STANDARD SPECIFIES REQUIREMENTS FOR TIRE SELECTION TO PREVENT TIRE OVERLOADING AND FOR MOTOR HOME/RECREATION VEHICLE TRAILER LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY INFORMATION. A MISPRINTED LABEL WOULD LEAD TO IMPROPER VEHICLE LOADING SPECIFICATIONS OR TIRE INFLATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN A TIRE FAILURE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CERTIFICATION AND TIRE INFORMATION LABELS WITH THE CORRECT LABELS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 13, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VIKING RV AT 1-800-368-2829.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 WW HORSE TRAILER (N/A) EQUIPPED WITH CARLISLE RADIAL TIRES, SIZE: ST225/75R/15. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE HORSE TRAILER WAS PARKED, THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRES BLEW. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
