Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The contact leased a 2024 Vinfast VF 9. The contact stated that while driving at night, the headlights failed to function as intended. No warning lights were illuminated, but the alarms sounded. The daytime running lights functioned, but the headlights were inoperable. The contact stated that the Lane Assist failed to function while the headlights failed to operate. In addition, the steering wheel jerked while driving, and the contact used force to keep the steering wheel from unintendedly changing lanes. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the contact shifted into park(P). Once the traffic light had turned green, the contact was unable to move the shift lever out of park(P). The vehicle was towed to a certified Vinfast repair center, where it was diagnosed that an OS (Operating System) update was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failures started when the vehicle was leased. The contact requested that the vehicle be inspected. The contact was informed that an unknown front-end control arm and the bushing cable needed to be replaced. An unknown part was tightened on the control arm. The manufacturer had gone out of business. Repairwise, the third party assigned to assist consumers, was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50.

I was driving my Vinfast I was approaching a intersection when the vehicle throws a gear error code. My Vehicle shut down and turned off immediately while I was still moving. I restarted my car but was unable to get it to go in gear. I was in a busy intersection for 2 hours waiting for Vinfast to get a tow truck to get my car towed. Since then, the dealership told me they are under order from Vinfast to hold my car and any other Vinfast that come in the shop with this newest update because of safety censers. So, there are other Vinfast out there with the same software, Vinfast is playing with people lives. They have no timeline of when I will get my car back. A manager at the dealership said the same thing happened to another customer driving on the interstate at a high speed I have had this car 3 months and this is the 2 tow and 3rd time in the shop for computer software problems This company is dangers
