YAMAHA FOR 2013 REDESIGNED THE FRONT PLASTIC COWLING IN A MANNER THAT PROHIBITS THE USER OF THE MOTORCYCLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE BATTERY OR FUSES. THIS IS A SAFETY AND MANUFACTURING DEFECT. YAMAHA HAS RELEASED A "TECH EXCHANGE" TO DEALERS REQUIRING THE OWNER TO PAY FOR A NEW PLASTIC COWLING AND LABOR. THE TECH EXCHANGE NUMBER IS "M2013-13 10/25/13". I FEEL THAT YAMAHA SHOULD PAY FOR THIS DEFECT UNDER WARRANTY. I CALLED AND THEY SAID NO. IT COST ME $188.10 AT MY LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS PLASTIC REPLACED. YAMAHA CUSTOMER RELATIONS NUMBER IS 800/962-7926 , OPTION 0. THIS IS MY SECOND FJR1300 MOTORCYCLE PURCHASED FROM THEM, THAT DID NOT SEEM TO MATTER.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
