1992 Chevrolet Blazer Visibility Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the visibility system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Visibility reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

02/01/2022 Windshield wiper fails to function unless the circuit board is replaced. GM refused to replace the board for 1992 vehicles even though that same board was recalled for 1994 and later vehicles. Simply said it was not part part of the recall so I had to buy a replacement myself. Was GM recall #98043 expanded to cover 1992 & 1993 year vehicles as well? ABS breaking ( or lack there of) is another matter. Upon entering my Blazer's VIN number into the NHTSA recall system, it revealed six recalls had been issued for 1992 Blazers. Unfortunately my VIN was not recognized other than that it was in fact a 1992 Blazer of some sort. Chevrolet simply said 1992 Chevrolet VIN numbers were not in their records. When GM/ Chevrolet fails to supply the data for my vehicle, does it have an obligation to inspect my vehicle to determine if it in fact has a problem that should have been resolved? Or has already been resolved? Or wasn't even a recalled vehicle at all? I would appreciate a reply to these questions and/or a reference to a site, providing this kind of information. Campaign Bulletins stated Dealers should confirm vehicle eligibility through GMVIS or DCS Screen 445 before beginning campaign repairs. How is this information accessed today? Really appreciate the ongoing effort to minimize avoidable accidents! .

1992 CHEVROLET BLAZER (TAHOE) FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONS. CAUSES WIPERS TO NOT OPERATE OR TO OPERATE IN A RANDOM PATTERN (CONSTANT WHEN PUT IN INTERMITTENT MODE OR INTERMITTENT WHEN PUT IN A CONSTANT MODE; WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN IN THE OFF POSITION ON OCCASION; WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN NEEDED. DEALER SAID THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM (COULD NOT KEEP THE PART IN STOCK FOR A WHILE) AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME COMPONENT (S10). CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN YOUR WIPER WILL NOT COME ON IN THE RAIN/SNOW OR SUDDENLY TURN OFF IN THE SAME CONDITIONS. REPLACEMENT MODULE COST $50.00 WITH OWNER INSTALLATION. *AK
