The steering wheel keeps locking up while driving fast/slow or turning. Everything shuts off, then back on and all codes flash. My car literally locks up, it’s really unsafe when I can’t control the vehicle. Almost hit another car, due to steering wheel locking up. Only thing I was told at the Chevy dealer house was there were no recalls. So they wouldn’t look unless they got to charge me. This issue started happening about five months ago. And I drive like a grandma.

What happened 1. A dashboard message has been popping up since December 11 on my 2014 Chevy Cruz car. I only have 77,000 miles on it. The message indicates “service tracking control “ 2. I took the car to the dealer and they said they did a number of repairs and I was charged 900. Some odd dollars to fix some parts to re-Zoll Veve the tracking control issue. 3. I let them know that that message kept coming back up. 4. After several times of taking it back to the dealer paying another $78 for another part they still do not know what the problem is. 5. The main concern is that the message displays over the digital speed control and I cannot determine how fast I am driving. The dealer does not know how to fix this problem. It is a safety concern because I cannot tell how fast I am driving I have I cannot get this problem fixed, and the dealer does not know how to resolve the problem.

NOTE: 628 SAFETY COMPLAINTS has been submitted to the NHTSA. Major Complaints submitted by several consumers for the VIN: [XXX] ; 2014; CHEVROLET CRUZE and this vehicle has NOT been removed from circulation. This vehicle should be considered a SEVERE Safety Violation and removed from the road. My son-in-law purchased this vehicle for his daughter back in Aug 2023 and within the first week the car ran hot and couldn't be driven. The car was taken back to the dealer but the dealer refused to take it because there was no warranty added to the purchase. It has been sitting parked because we were told the engine was so bad it should be totally replaced. We're positive the dealer was well aware of the vehicles condition (there was NO visual indication) the vehicle was in such poor condition. The dealer even had an on site mechanic who assured the buyer that the car was in good condition but they both the (owner and mechanic) decided to take advantage selling the car anyway. Can you direct us to whom ever can assist us in getting help in resolving this issue. Regarding the following questions, I feel is irrelevant as all past 628 complaints has been submitted in your system. I have had my 2014 Chevy Cruze for 2 years now and have kept up with regular maintenance. My vehicle rocks back and forth while on the brakes, there’s an constant issue with the traction control system, my automatic lights don’t work (I have to many turn on the light in order for the brake lights to turn on), the vehicle shakes side to side when braked, and so much more. When I take the vehicle to be looked at every mechanic and shop tells me there’s nothing wrong or they don’t know.

I ENTERED A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT AND DROVE TO THE FAR END TO PARK. AS I WAS PULLING INTO A SPOT AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 2 OR 3 MILES AN HOUR TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND EXIT THE CAR IT SUDDENLY TOOK OFF AT A VERY FAST SPEED. I COULD NOT STOP IT USING THE BRAKES. THE CAR WENT UP AND OVER A GRASSY ISLAND THAT HAD ABOUT A FOOT OF FROZEN SNOW(ICE) ON IT. THE CAR FLEW OFF THE ISLAND AND CONTINUED AT THIS HIGH SPEED HEADING TOWARD A HILL. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING I WAS TRYING TO STOP THE CAR USING THE BRAKE TO NO AVAIL. BY THE GRACE OF GOD THE CAR STOPPED ABOUT TEN FEET BEFORE SLAMMING INTO THE HILL. A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO OUR MECHANIC. UPON COMPLETION OF THE REPAIRS NEEDED TO THE ITEMS DAMAGED UNDER THE CAR I AM ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THE MECHANIC'S INVOICE READS RUN AWAY CAR AND LISTS THESE REPAIRS: THROTTLE BODY AND /OR GASKET--REMOVE AND REPLACE & CLEAN - 1.4L ENG.TURBOCHARGER, ACCELERATOR PEDAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE - ACCELERATOR FOOT PEDAL.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAN RESULT IN VEHICLE ROLLING BACKWARDS FOR 3-5 SECONDS IN DURATION AFTER RELEASING BRAKE WHILE. WHILE ON FLAT GROUND - THIS CAUSES DANGER TO OTHER DRIVER AS THE EXPECT OTHER VEHICLES TO BE MOVING AFTER A TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNS GREEN. WHILE ON AN INCLINE - THIS CONDITION MAY POSE A DANGER TO PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER MOTORISTS AS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS A GREAT DISTANCE. THE DISTANCE AND SPEED OF TRAVEL BACKWARDS WILL VARY BASED ON ANGLE OF INCLINE OF STREET OR ROAD. WHEN THIS CONDITION OCCURS - THE DRIVER IS COMPLETELY UNAWARE AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKE IN ENOUGH TIME TO PREVENT COLLISION WITH OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS. THIS CONDITION HAPPENS WHEN: 1 - TRANSMISSION IS HOT (ABOUT 40 MIN DRIVE TIME) 2 - BRAKE IS DEPRESSED FOR LONGER THAN 3 SECONDS WHILE SITTING AT LIGHT. 3 - RELEASING BRAKE MAY OR MAY NOT RESULT IN THIS CONDITION HAPPENING. SERVICE 1 - THE VEHICLE SHOWS NO CODES FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. 2 - MULTIPLE GM DEALERS HAVE CONFIRMED SOFTWARE OF VEHICLE IS UP TO DATE. 3 - MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE MIXED STATEMENTS IF THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE ISSUE OR NOT. DEALER 1 SAYS - "IT'S YOUR DRIVING HABITS. WE RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT WILL RE-LEARN HOW YOU DRIVE." DEALER 2 SAYS - "WE WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE YOUR ISSUE AND ARE AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM GM" - WHEN SPEAKING TO GM THEY INDICATED THEY NEVER RECEIVED AN EMAIL FORM THE DEALER. CONDITION WAS FIRST SEEN AT APPROXIMATELY 68K MILES AND HAS CONTINUED ON/OFF UNTIL CURRENT MILEAGE OF 98K. DEALER AND GM CORPORATE HAVE HAD VEHICLE FOR GREATER THAN 30 DAYS AND ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE RESOLUTION. AS A FIREFIGHTER - IT IS MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION THAT THIS CONDITION MAY PRESENT A RISK TO PUBLIC WELFARE.

FAULTY PARTS HAVE CAUSED ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE, SUCH AS CONSTANT ENGINE TICKING, AND SQUEAKING WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND BELOW 1300RPM. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS I BELIEVE ARE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO HAVE POWER LOSS AND ULTIMATELY MAKE THIS VEHICLE LESS POWERFUL AND BECOME UNDEPENDABLE. BEYOND THOSE PROBLEMS I CONSISTENTLY GET WARNINGS ABOUT THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRAK. I AM DOING WHAT I CAN TO FIX THIS THING BUT BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT THE FACTORY. *TR

IT LOOSES POWER. ALL DASH LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING, THE RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AND THE CAR LOOSES POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING (THIS IS MAJOR AND I'VE HAD A FEW SCARY MOMENTS WHILE TURNING). AT TIMES THE KEY WILL GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND IT WILL NOT START. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE KEY OUT IS TO POP THE HOOD AND JIGGLE THE BATTERY CABLE, IT WILL THEN RELEASE THE KEY. ALL THESE ISSUES HAPPEN DAILY. I HAVE NO WARNING LIGHTS THAT STAY ON CONSISTENTLY.*DT*JB
