Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Chevrolet Impala, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM WILL BECOME STUCK, AND DOOR WILL REMAIN LOCKED DESPITE ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK IT WITH THE KEY FOB OR MANUALLY. FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AFTER BEING PUT IN PARK AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES. OTHER DOORS UNAFFECTED, AND REAR PASSENGERS WERE ABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE VIA PASSENGER SIDE BACK DOOR. ONLY SOLUTION APPEARS TO BE REMOVING THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELING TO ACCESS THE LOCKING MECHANISM. THIS WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (VARIES) BUT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
