CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 97V058000 CONCERNING REAR CRADLE BOLT FAILURE. THE PROBLEM RECURRED AFTER RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. *AK
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS PULLING INTO HIS DRIVEWAY HE HEARD ALOUD BANG. THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY LOST STEERING CONTROL AND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED 360 DEGREES NON STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE SUBFRAME RUSTED WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE AND RACK AND PINION TO COLLAPSE TO THE GROUND. *AK *NLM

WHEEL SEPARATED FROM VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. *AK
WHILE ENTERING MY DRIVEWAY, THE WIRE CABLE WHICH ATTACHES THE SPARE TIRE BROKE, CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO DROP TO THE GROUND. THIS 1/8 INCH WIRE CABLE IS THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE SPARE IN PLACE. WHEN IT BREAKS, THE WHEEL FALLS OUT ON TO THE ROAD. IT DID NOT CAUSE A PROBLEM, SINCE IT HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED, WHILE ENTERING MY DRIVEWAY. HOWEVER, I WOULD HATE TO BE FOLLOWING A VEHICLE, AT HIGHWAY SPEED, IF THE SAME THING SHOULD HAPPEN. *AK

CONSUMER STATES THE REAR CRADLE BOLTS SNAPPED ON BOTH SIDES OF AUTOMOBILE. CONSUMER STATES THIS WAS A RECALL IN 1997 AND SHE HAD IT CORRECTED. NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN.
