1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Visibility Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the visibility system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Visibility reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

TWICE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THE REAR WINDOW HAS EXPLODED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I RUN THE REAR DEFROSTER. I CONTACTED MY GM DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY FAULTED THE WINDOW INSTALLATION. THE WINDOW INSTALLERS FAULT THE DEFROSTER, WHICH IS WHAT I BELIEVE IS AT FAULT ALSO. BOTH TIME I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE ANY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. HAD THERE BEEN ANY KIDS BACK THERE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWERED IN GLASS.*AK

THIS WOULD CAUSE DRIVER TO HAVE POOR VISIBILITY IN HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. BEEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS & CONTACTED MANUFACTURER. VEHICLE NOT UNDER RECALL 97V017000 DUE TO VIN, ALTHOUGH IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
